Part 5

“Dont you dare raise a question on her or else I’ll forget you are my friend.” Siddharta roared as he held one of his friend by collar.

“Arre yaar main to tere bhale ke liye hi keh raha hoon. Mujhe koi shauk thodi hi hai teri marriage ruin karne ka.” His friend Amay answered.

“He is right bro, even I had seen Mini last night.” Another friend Soham supported Amay.

“You guys are my best friends but Mini is also special to me. I am getting married to her in just an hour and you are informing me that you have seen her coming out of her supposedly ex boyfriend’s room in the middle of last night? How I am supposed to react in this situation?” Siddharta asked in frustration.

“Ok, you dont believe us then you can see the cctv recordings. I am sure the resort must have cctv at every floor.” Amay suggested and everyone agreed.

Siddharta couldn’t react for few seconds when he himself saw in the camera, Mini going in Neil’s room and then after a considerable amount of time coming out of it. A glimpse of Neil could also be seen when Mini came out of the room leaving no chance for any doubt that it was indeed Neil’s room and two of them just spent the night together.

“What are you thinking dude? Just cancel this marriage. You cant marry that cheater. She doesn’t deserves you.” Soham suggested.

“And let this ruin mine and my family’s reputation? No, I am not doing that. This marriage will happen at any cost.” Siddharta declared.

“What! Are you mad? Can you forget what she did with you?” Amay asked.

“No, never. She broke my trust and she will have to answer me but I will handle her later. I wont stop this marriage. I dont give a damn about true love and shit like that. For me it was always my class, my family which came first. Mini is an educated independent girl coming from the reputed family of army background. Thats why I proposed her at the first place. My family’s reputation is at stake. My forefathers have not earn fame and prestige for all the years so that a stupid girl can ruin it with her ex boyfriend fantasy.” Siddharta explained his point of view.

“But Sid...” Soham tried to argue but Siddharta didn’t let him.

“You guys are my friends. If you really want to help me out in any way then please take care of that b*****rd Neil. I will handle Mini somehow but that a**hole may try to create problems. So handle him for me, do whatever you want but dont let him come in front of Mini. She is an emotional fool. She might break down after seeing him. Throw him away out of this property. Nothing should go wrong.” Siddharta instructed and his friends agreed.

“Neil yaar, dont be a fool. Dont let her go this time. Not after what happened last night, its a proof that you two love each other like crazy.” Bobby pleaded to Neil who was carrying his bag in the lobby towards the main entry.

“I am being practical. She doesn’t deserve a man like me. Siddharta is much better than me. Whatever happened last night must be in an emotionally weak moment but she didn’t say anything later. Never expressed her love which makes me believe that our love might be true but the problems, the behavioural differences, the expectations are still the same. Sooner or later it will again create problems between us and I cant see her regretting her decision of choosing me again.” Neil explained his point of view.

“Achha to kam se kam venue tak to chal. Tu yaha uski shadi attend karne hi aaya tha na. Phir shadi hone ke baad hi jana.” Bobby tried to convince him somehow to stay and come in front of Mini hoping that it would push him to confess his feelings.

"I cant do this anymore. Cant see her as someone else's bride thats why I am leaving." Neil was about to leave when Siddharta’s friends Amay and Soham blocked his way. “Where are you going?” Amay asked as he held Neil’s collar.

“None of your business.” Neil jerked him away.

“It is our business. Hume pata hai kal raat kya khichdi pak rahi thi tumhare aur Mini ke beech. Humne Sid ko bhi sab sach bata diya hai.”Soham replied making face as if he was disgusted by the fact.

“What! Siddharta knows and he is still ready to marry her?” Neil asked in shock.

“Yes, some family reputation and shit and all. But If I was in his place then I would have never married to such girl after seeing her true colors.” Soham answered in general.

“Let it be na, Sid must have thought something before making final decision, after all there is another level thrill in marrying a s**t like her.” Amay commented and before he could have laughed at his sick joke he found himself on the ground on his back, holding his nose. He pulled his hand to see what happened only to find it bleeding because of the straight punch Neil gave him.

“You dare open your mouth to say anything against Mini and you wont be able to speak again in your life.” Neil threatened Amay as he bent down to pick him up again by holding his collar.

Seeing this Soham tried to attack him too but Bobby blocked him. “Oye aaram se jara, bekar mein baat na badhao. Tum dono ka waise bhi is sab se kya lena dena hai?”

“Sid asked us to handle Neil and dont let him go towards the altar. We are just helping our friend.” Soham answered.

“I dont know why Sid was worried about this fool? Even if he would have gone in front of Mini then I am sure nothing would have happened. He is nothing in comparison to Sid. And that Mini is super smart. She has chosen a rich man over this majnu. What did he think that by dancing with her, knowing her likes, dislikes, spending time with her, he can win her back? In chhoti chhoti baton ka, in bematlab se lamho ka koi asar nahi hota. People take practical decisions at the end.” Amay taunted while holding his bleeding nose.

Neil was lost in thoughts for sometime after hearing Amay's words but then he suddenly came out of it and hugged Amay. “What are you doing? Ishq mein pagla gaye ho kya?” Amay asked while pushing Neil away.

“Dude! You dont know what you have done for me. Ye Bobby jo mujhe itni der se samjhane ki koshish kar raha tha wo tumne samjha diya.” Neil explained.

“What?” Amay, Soham and also Bobby wondered out loud.

“Bilkul theek kaha tumne kisi bhi aam insaan ke liye in chhoti chhoti baaton ka koi matlab nahi hota lekin Mini alag hai....wo khaas hai. Mini is a person who lives in these small moments. Uske liye yahi chhoti chhoti baatein, lamhe hi important hote hain. Thats why she could not form any bond with Siddharta. When Siddharta doesn’t give shit about all these things, when he always believes in practicality of things then how would he keep her happy? He may be better man than me but I understand Mini better than anyone. And what if she doesn’t said anything after last night but we at least deserve a fair chance. You know guys I was leaving this place, had no plan to attend the wedding but now I will definitely go there and confess my love.” Neil declared and turned towards the wedding venue.

But as soon as he attempted to move Amay and Soham caught him. “We wont let you ruin our friend’s marriage.”

“Then I am sorry I have no choice.” Neil said and gave another punch on Amay’s mouth. This time it cut his lip from corner. Bobby got hold of Soham and punched him. Mickey who was also going to attend wedding saw all this and understood at once what was going on.

“Neil, you go. We will handle here.” Mickey assured and indulge in the fight together with Bobby.

“What are you doing yaar? This is your life. Please think about it.” Neha made another attempt to make Mini understand that she was about to commit biggest mistake of her life by marrying Siddharta.

“What is your problem yaar Neha? First when I used to take Neil’s name you would scold me even for that but now when I am trying to move on in life with Siddharta, you are saying that I should return to Neil. Why are you confusing me?” Mini asked getting irritated.

“Thats because at first I really used to believe that you have broken up with Neil, moved on and going to start new life with Siddharta but after your last night’s adventure, I can clearly see that you never moved on, your body may have left Neil’s place but your heart never left him.” Neha tried to reason and put some sense in her bestie’s head.

At first when Neha saw Mini coming running back into her room and crying continuously, she thought that Neil must have hurt her or said mean words to her but when she came to know what happened between them, she had blasted Mini, left, right and centre for being utterly stupid and acting on impulse. After her anger cooled down she had realized that Mini still loves Neil and she can be happy only with him. She had thought even Mini and Neil would have come to realize this but to her utter shock both of these idiots were still making jalebees of their thought process by assuming things on their own instead of confessing their feelings.

“Its my wedding, I have to move go to the altar any minute now and you are saying to cancel this wedding! I cant embarrass both my and Sid’s families. And on what ground I should cancel it?” Mini questioned.

“Spending just the previous night of your wedding in your ex lover’s arms is not an enough reason for you? You love him, idiot! Loving one person and marrying another is a cheating, not only to both the men but to yourself also.” Neha almost shouted.

“Ok, I love Neil. But what about him? He didn’t say anything. When I was about to get out of his room, I was expecting that he will stop me and confess his love but that never happened. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t stop me, he never once asked me to cancel this wedding with Sid and marry him instead. He ahd let me go for the first time and last night, he let me go again.” Mini replied wiping off her face as the angry tears made their way through her eyes.

“Tumne bhi to kuch nahi kaha na....” Neha tried to argue again but Mini stopped her as she didn’t want to listen anything right now.

Just then Ashok and Babita came inside the room. Mini and Neha abruptly stopped their conversation. Mini looked at her parents, they looked sad, angry, confused all at once. Mini thought that they heard everything. Right then, Babita came marching towards Mini, “Mini tumne....” Babita started in accusatory tone but Ashok was quick to interrupt her.

“Arre Babita, Siddharta’s relatives were looking out for you. They need to talk about some ritual. I think you must go immediately.” Ashok came up with an excuse.

“Fine! I am going but bring her to the altar soon. ”Babita replied as she turned around to go outside not before going a knowing look to Ashok and an angry glance to Mini.

Mini smiled nervously when Ashok approached her. “Priest calling for you. I think fathers walk their daughter to the altar in Christian weddings, thats what I have seen in movies, am I right?” Ashok asked and Mini nodded her head.

“So shall we?” Ashok put forward his hand and Mini held him from the elbow. Both of them became emotional at the moment.

“Remember, When you were a little girl, you used to come running to me for every problem, you couldn’t even take a single decision without consulting me. But look at you now, I didn’t realize when my daughter grew up so much that she started taking all the important decisions of her life by her own, she doesn’t even consider me worthy of sharing her doubts, in fact even hiding things from me.” Ashok said as a lone tear escaped his eye.

“Dad, its nothing like that....I...” Mini tried to explain but couldn’t as she started crying too while both of them continued to walk down the aisle.

“Then what is it? Me and your mom have heard everything. And even before all this, I was in doubt ever since that boy Neil has come here. I am your father sweetheart, I know whats going in your heart and mind. I could tell that he is very important to you so I talked to that Bobby and found out everything about your past. And I think what Neha was saying was true. You should reconsider your decision of marrying Siddharta.” Ashok whispered in her ears as they now came in open area where all the guests could see them.

“Does mom thinks the same?” Mini inquired.

“Its your life. Your happiness matters the most. I will handle mom, dont worry about her.” Ashok assured.

“But Neil, he didn’t say anything, didn’t stop me last night and look around, he is not even here. I know he loved me truly, even wanted to sort things out but I think it was really a final goodbye from his side. He must have left.” Mini gave another reason.

“Then its his loss. But still, you dont need to force yourself into an unwanted relationship. You can still say no to the marriage. Forget about Neil, forget about Sidhharta, first, be honest to yourself.” Ashok whispered in her ears as they almost reached the altar.

"But I cant defame both the families now. There will be huge scene.” Mini bit her lip in nervousness thinking about the outcome of her decision.

“Kuch to log kahenge...logo ka kaam hai kehna....”Ashok hummed his favorite song and smiled at Mini. Mini couldn’t help but feel lucky to have a father like Ashok who only cares about her happiness.

They finally reached the altar. Mini came and stood in front of Siddharta who was already waiting for her. She looked around the whole decoration, stage, all set up near the beach, everything according to her taste but the man standing in front of her was not the same as she always imagined. There was a time she used to talk all day about her wedding plans excitedly. Now when it has finally come true, it all seem so frivolous because the man whom all her world revolved around was not there, without him everything was meaning less.

Mini was not even listening to what priest was saying. She was just standing there absent mindedly when priest finally got her attention as he asked the most important question from her.

“Do you take this man as your husband?” Priest asked for the bride’s consent.
