'Grihabhangha' based on S.L. Bhairappa's novel of same title was another gem.

You only need to see what happened to Saraswatichandra. The source material was mind-blowing but they still couldn't make the best of it and ended up changing the story. The leads' chemistry kept it going for ages but the core story was messed up early on.

There's also the matter of lack of 'courage' to show tough situation and the harsh truth of how things play out in real life. Stories do not always have happy endings, nor do they turn out the way we would like.

I agree, regional stuff is really interesting but when turned into shows for Hindi GEC it all goes haywire. Badalte Rishton ki Daastan is a great example of that.

I know a lot of people who crave for finite shows, and I wish they would have real finite shows, i.e. end in 3-4 months. If channels give PH's the space to tell their story, over time people's tastes and tolerance would improve too.

That is one reason Pakistani shows do well - the whole series is usually shot before it's aired, and people tell watch the story unfold the way the makers want it to. TRP does not bias or influence the plot. They tried this with Tamanna, which was a great show but a lot of people just didn't get it.

Aur K-serials ki to baat hi mat karo - toxicity that ruined ITV and made the depiction of women even more regressive over time.

I see many hindi TV show viewers saying about finite shows. But are we really ready for it? One show does well or fans like a couple or a character/actor and ppl dont want it to end saying there is so much to show.😆 Take PB itself it should have ended with ladies special. They dragged and result is the mess. Any show dragged too long faces same things that are happening in PB.

Yeah but then you narrow your focus and ensure characters are fleshed out before even airing an episode. Begusarai was a great example of how a brilliant show with amazing cast and performances also went downhill for the same reasons.

I agree PB should have ended with Babitha's emancipation and they could have shown Babitha giving wings to Mini's dreams. The whole HS- Babitha romance and marriage is what took away the real essence of the show. If they hadn't gone down that path everything would've gone well.

It would have been path breaking storyline to show a man and woman coparenting a child without being romantically involved.

@bold, this... I had originally wished this could happen but I do not think PHs have the courage to push the envelope this way.

The best would have been them showing Babita getting wings and then Minnie and her daddy issues being addressed, and then eventually if they wanted Hanita together it might have made sense.

I had wished for the same thing. But PH had other things in mind. I seriously dislike people's obsession with couple , romance and chemistry. 🤷‍♀️

I have seen most amazing concepts going down the drain just because of this couple frenzy eg, Geet ..

I in fact think that it would have been an important point to show how someone could build a trustful relationship and family after a failed marriage and lots of baggage.

So yes for romance but keeping it in its proper place, that is showing balance and also that normally romance adjusts to one's life over time and not the other way around. Like if it should have been a realistic show you wouldn't expect Babita to stay single for the rest of her life.

1. I think it would have been great to see relationships built on trust and respect staying for life without giving any names to them.

2. No. Babitha need not stay single but I don't think HS is an ideal life partner for her . There are other men outside who are equally good and with less emotional baggage.
