"determinism" introduces the idea that although we do not have power over what happens to us, how we react to it is the complicated issue.

This reminds me of the famous rule - 80% of the consequences are faced due to how a person react 20% of time.

We often like to entertain idea we could have done something different or wish I had power to do this. our actions and reactions have formed over the curse of our lives and we will behave in specific manner given a situation. Our actions and reactions are usually based on our ability to think rationally and not react. People these days usually are too much into just cursing them rather than sitting and thinking.

the idea we could change the course of matter on our own is an illusion and determinism challenges that. we do not have power in sense we are programmed to act in certain way due to number of things. But we still have choices, which choice we go for, well another philosophical debate. I am always in for any debate 😉
