I m nt comparing both of them...
thakral had enough time to console himself...
i m saying this that his reaction was juz instant...

See
If kunal came to knw abt this later on then he would have nt slapped her...

Isn't that what all of us are thinking? I admit, secretly, it did feel good, to see that b**** get slapped across the face. It's like experiencing an adrenaline rush from giving in to an animal instinct.

But let us think for a moment here, is this right? Should violence be used when words fail? Slapping someone is an act of physical violence, beyond a doubt. Is it right for a man to hit a woman or, in the interest of not having double standards, for a woman to hit a man?

Undeniably, Richa is evil & she should be punished, but by allowing ourselves to think that she "deserved it", we allow ourselves to start excusing violence as a means to an end. Telly fiction notwithstanding, when a good looking, popular "hero" gets applauded for hitting a woman, he unwittingly gives testosterone driven alfa males, country-wide a stamp of approval to raise their hands on "deserving" women!

Should we be cheering this act of Kunal's? I think not'. Kunal Chopra has a dent in his armor that needs quick repair.

It is very distressing that Balaji Telefilms should time & again fuel the spread of those very social evils that Amir Khan is attempting to curb!

In the interest of those who have trouble reading through... my post is not to malign Kunal as an abusive man, rather it is to point out an inconsistency in his characterization that could regrettably fuel the growth of physical violence cases in the country.

To those of you who have asked "what else was he supposed to do under the circumstances" my answer is...he already successfully did what he came there to do...save his wife from Richa's evil intentions. Slapping her only served the purpose of venting his anger & can by no means be legitimized as a "human emotion".

As for "acting on instinct & reflex"... that is what differentiates the human from the animal & though we will never rid ourselves of our "original nature", millions of years of evolution has given the human brain the ability to process information with rationality & wisdom & thus differently from animals.
(or so one hopes)

In my belief, it takes a certain mindset to justify violence of any kind & quite evidently, from some posts here, it has little to do with one's educational qualifications!
There will always be a wife beater or a child beater around, so long as there are people who justify & even applaud an act that is punishable by law in many parts of the world.

Kunal the lawyer should have known better. Slapping Richa achieved nothing, except ridding him of some pent up frustration & the unfortunate by-product has been the arousal of the animal instinct in many of the viewers, some of whom don't seem to possess the mental faculties to differentiate between abuse & assault.
My respect for Amir Khan has increased 10 fold, since perusing some posts here... he has a gi-normous uphill task ahead of him!

Just n example of instant reaction.

U saw a small kid alone in middle of the road n a car coming close to her in full speed ...n u witness it...nw would u go an search his mother n tell her that ur girl is in danger or u would instantly save the girl...thats ur instant reaction

I dont knw whether the example fits this..bt it came to my mind so wrote it down

Bad analogy. Kunal did not slap his wife nor did he slap richa to exert his masculinity. He slapped richa when she tried to kill his wife. And a man who could take that out of context into slapping his wife; would then want to slap his wife on seeing any person A slapping person B independent of genders

Kunal slapped Richa for what he perceived as a grave error from her part, that man in the scenario as per him is also slapping his wife for what he perceives as a grave error!!!😉Who are we to define whats right and wrong for another , but yes we can certainly be held responsible for sometimes influencing an others actions!!!
Can't this man think she applauds a man who corrects a wrong by slapping that person , so maybe she will respect me if I do the same???😕Actions can be misconstrued that is why TV with its mass appeal should perhaps think twice about what it shows!!

Coming on time and saving Siddhi already conveyed the above mentioned. The slap did not accomplish anything substantial!!!

I can actually imagine this scene , wife watching Parichay applauding Kunal when he slapped Richa , husband with slight abusive tendencies watches this.Later a fight erupts and husband slaps wife and wife questions' Aapko sharam nahi aata , aurat pe haath utathe ho' , husband says ' Kyune tere hero jab kar raha tha toh khoob has rahi thi'😆 I am not saying all of us will do this, but there are people who may, why be responsible for a scene like this in some household when we can very well refrain from it!!!😕 TV is a social medium whether we like it or audience do take away a message everytime every scene!!!

I do agree that TV as social form is very powerful. But someone with inclination of violence will use whatever they can find. One of my professor's did a study where people with violent tendencies intentionally watch violent shows and they may use it as an excuse. Yes i do believe in responsible form of media, but you can't be held responsible for everything. the above mentioned scenario you mentioned is actually extreme level of excuse.

Kunal did convey that he is at his limit and he no longer is going to tolerate any nonsense from anyone.
