An eastern Indo-Aryan language, Bengali is native to the region of eastern South Asia known as Bengal, which comprises present day Bangladesh, the Indian state of West Bengal, and parts of the Indian states of Tripura and Assam. It is written with the Bengali script. With nearly 300 million total speakers, Bengali is one of the most spoken languages (ranking sixth) in the world.Like the nature of Bengali folks and their Mishti doi, this language is also sweet and lovable! (No wonder their food is also sweeter than the average Indian dish

What a lovely thread. Thanks Sahasra, Aditi and Amrish for making this thread beautifully done.

Welcome to my fellow parichayians who are going to learn bengali with me. I promise I will not be a very strict Bhasha Acharya.

Good luck to all.

Firstly I am stating some of the basic features of Bengali language-
1) it is mainly used in two forms i.e- coloquial form or chalti bhasha
and literary or sadhu bhasha.
Here we will only going to learn chalti bhasha as its easy and used in all
Type of day to day convo.

2) in Bengali, verbs are not separately used to differentiate the gender.its same for both male and female.

3) Bengali pronunciation is dominated by O, for example- Sachin is called S-O-C-H-I-N, Abhishek as O-bhishek etc.

Thats all for now. Will add more later if needed.

Now time for the actual lessons. Lets get started then. 😊

I am updating the contents of the thread , so that its easy to find the lessons.
