No you are right. I think makers here have no knowledge of Gujrat. Gujrati culture, lifestyle of people are all the most same regardless of chhota bada shehar. Even upbringing, basic nature, culture, mentality of Gujrati living in Somnaath Or US would be same, if they are born & bought up in Gujrat. Gujrat is one of the only state you'll see woman handling even toll booth on highways, irrespective of chhota, bada shehar.
I'm not saying people of regressive mentality are not there. But it depends on person rather than blaming whole "chhote shehar people"
Absolute truth!
Smallest of Gujarat town , women have more freedom & ease of life- than imagined in many big cities in other parts of India.
Mentality has nothing to do with chhota/ badaa. My mil lived her life in baroda: big city & US- she still thinks regressive!
whereas her very own brother’s wife runs full fledged store in small town- same scale as Somnath/Prabhaspatan.
A lot of thinking is about personal perceptions!
Gujarat : Saurashtra, Kutchch are known for their matriarchal family hierarchy. There are trivial, local fairs: like Tarnetar - which are ageold ‘tinders’ you may call it.
where young marriage age boys & girls mingle, vm dance, talk ‘date’ to see if things work out & find marriage partners! Choice is basic right, in many such ‘chhota shehar’ communities!
Smallest village to mid size town to big cities: women can freely walk around even at midnight!
All my college life, 24x7 campus, we used to go home post assignment deadlines -2/3/4 am midnight! Bindas! On scooters!! No fear! Not a single mishap!
That safe it is , since generations!
Come Navratri, even with jwellery, women - girls walk around freely at night- whole night!
Inshort: in general Gujarati ‘Hinterland’ is widely safe, adjusting, progressive, hapoyGoLucky. With ofcourse individual ethos!
