Drabble 5: Aalingan, Chumban, Samarpan

As Raavi dragged her lazy feet, she couldn't process her mind at what she had just heard. Shiva had always loved her? HER? And that too from the past 5 years?

How could she be so dumb to avoid his feelings like that? How could she be so blind in her foolish attraction for Dev that she failed to see the true love that she was getting from such a kind and innocent soul?

Was she that dumb to not see how he had always been by her side, had always protected her from all the ills, and always been a barrier against her problems.

At the time of her madness for Dev also, he had tried to demotivate her from her dreams, trying to get her back to reality like a true friend and protect her from the inevitable heartbreak. But she, like a dobi, had always felt angry and rebellious on his harsh words and she always became more determined to prove him wrong.

Could there have been a pain in his heart that he experienced whenever he had to feign ignorance at her mentions of him being her dewar and her being his 'Bhabhi'? She felt so terrible for being so harsh on the pure soul who had suffered all the induced pain in solidarity while the love of his life tried to rub salt on his wounds.

She felt angry at herself for being so stupid, as she had once again failed to understand what Shiva was as a person, as a man, and as a husband, who had always tried to face her harsh treatments with a brave face, mastering the art of masking his pain and his emotions behind his rough and cold demanour.

Shiva dragged his feet towards Pandya Niwas, as he recalled the photo that Suman had sent to him regarding a prospective would-be bride for him, once he gets divorced. He felt a lump in his throat at the mere thought of being tied to someone who he didn't know for the rest of his life.

If this situation had happened 4-5 months back, he wouldn't have had any problem since he knew Suman will always bring a well-behaved, well-mannered and 'sanskari' bahu for Pandyas and a perfect match for him as a Wife.

He always thought that a girl who will be exact replica of Dhara will be a perfect match for him, who will be an excellent cook, multi-tasker, and as innocent as a cow.

But alas! since the moment Raavi, that Chipkali had entered his life, his standards had increased. At one point of his life, he had actually wondered at the choice of the bride he wanted. He wanted a phuski bomb, in the place of a firecracker, which, if not handled well will burn your hand, but if handled properly, it will show its beautiful colors to you and fill the shine in your life.

As he entered the house, his eyes found Raavi who was waiting for someone while sitting on the cot and tapping her foot anxiously. The moment she acknowledged his presence, she sprung from her seat and rushed towards Suman's room.

Confused by her sudden change in demeanor, he decided to follow her.

"Kaki, Ab to Shiva bhi aa gaya. Ab to bata dijiye na. Please, Mujhe Masi ki bahut tension ho rahi hai." She muttered nervously, struggling with her dupatta.

Shiva's confusion increased as he couldn't understand the situation.

What had happened?

"Aee Kagdi ki beti, tu uss kagdi ki jyada fikar mat kar. Aur meri aankhen salamat hain. Mein dekh sakti hun ki mera beta aa gaya hai. Zyaada hoshyaari mat dikha. Pehle apne kaan ke parde khol aur meri baat dhyaan se sunn..."

"Maa, Baat kya hai??" He interrupted Suman as he sat beside her on the bed.

Suman just cupped his cheeks and looked at him assuringly. "Are kuch nahi hua mere bacche. Tu uss kagdi ki fikar mat kar. Maine bass uska haath maroda tha, Jab woh mujhe Tum dono ke talaak ke baare mein dhamkane aayi thi. Aur usi chakkar mein mujhse apna haath bachate bachate gir gayi. Isiliye ye itna ho halla kar rahi hai. Aur kuch nahi hai."

"Par aapko isse kya batana tha?" He questioned further as he saw she was trying to hide something as Raavi watched their interaction with bated breath.

"Chal theek hai, mein tujhe baad mein batane wali thi, par ab tu aa hi gaya hai to bata hi deti hun. Meri ek jaan pehchan ki jyotish hai, jo bade acche se haath dekhna jaanti hain. Woh insaan ka chehra padh ke bata sakti hai ki aane wale saal mein uss insaan ki zindagi mein kya naya badlaav aayega. To mein chahti hun, tum dono uss ke pass jao aur apna haath dikhao. Taaki pata chale ki tum dono ka talaak kitni jaldi ho sakta hai. Phir Shivani se tera rishta bhi to tay karna hai na."

Raavi's eyes widened at the mention of Shiva's rishta, as he looked away, suddenly feeling uncomfortable. He glanced at Raavi, trying to gaze at her reaction, but as usual, her expressions were blank.

As it was an order from Suman, there was no room for arguments, so they just agreed and Suman ordered them to go straight away to the jyotish.

Shivi walked slowly, trying to prolong the dreadful interaction with the jyotish. Both didn't want the divorce, they knew it in their hearts but were unsure of the other's decision.

"Shiva", She almost whispered, trying to keep a straight face, so as to not let him see the dilemma whirling in her heart.

"Hmm", he was lost in his own thoughts, too lost to pay heed to her upcoming words.

"Kya hum.." but before she could complete the sentence, a bike passed by them, making Raavi flinch in surprise and jump on Shiva, clutching his shoulders. He had involuntarily wrapped his arms around her waist to stabilize her, but she shivered as she closed her eyes and shrieked in pain as her ankle had twisted.

Shiva, without wasting any second had lifted her in his arms and started walking, without letting Raavi know what storm was brewing his heart. She just clutched his shirt and glanced at his straight emotionless face with a look of longing..

Will, they really seperate like this?

As Shiva stopped in front of the jyotish's house and rang the doorbell, surprisingly the doors were open, "Aa jao bacchon.." They heard a blunt voice as Shiva carried Raavi inside.

As they entered, they could see an old lady approximately in her 50s chanting some mantras with her eyes closed.

"Apni Biwi ko apni bahon se utaar do Shiva, aur tum dono baith jao."

Their eyes widened as to how could she sense them with her eyes closed, Nonetheless, they sat down.

"Shiva aur Raavi, 4 mahine ho chuke hain Shaadi ko, aur ab talaak bhi hone wala hai. Haina?" She finally opened her eyes and they both gasped at the rare eye combination of yellow and blue in her eyes.

Unable to form any words, they just nodded. What they didn't know, her eyes were hypnotizing and they were starting to get under her influence.

"Shiva, tum Raavi se talaak kyun lena chahte ho?" She asked him, softly as she glanced into his eyes.

"Kyunki mein Raavi ke layak nahi hun. Mujhe shaadi karke maine isski aur meri zindagi kharab kar di hai. Lekin ab mein iss galti ko sudharna chahta hun." He answered robotically as Raavi stared at him with surprise in her eyes.

Actually, the moment the jyotish looked at one person, the other person could feel the hypnotism wavering off. So Raavi was in her senses at the moment.

But as the Jyotish turned her glance at her, she could feel her senses messing up. "Aur tum Raavi. Tum Shiva se talaak kyun lena chahti ho?" she asked the same question and smirked as she could see Shiva look at Raavi in curiosity.

"Main thak gayi hun, Ise yeh prove karte karte ki mein humari shaadi ko ek mauka dena chahti hun. Par yeh meri baat hi nahi sunna chahta. Mein tang aa gayi hun isse. Isilye mein ab isse dur hona chahti hun." She repeated the words from earlier as she knew she didn't deserve someone like Shiva. It was better to be bad in front of him then be pitiful.

It was Shiva's turn to flinch in surprise. It was nothing new that he was hearing, but to face the reality in form of her words was hard.

The Jyotish smiled and closed and opened her eyes again.

"Kya tum dono ke beech kabhi pyaar ka beej nahi boya gaya?"

Both gasped as they avoided eye contact with her and looked down.

"Matlab mera shak sahi tha. Tum dono ek dusre se pyaar karte ho, lekin darte ho, kahin dusre ne aapko chod diya to?"

Raavi nodded, as she knew she would always feel insecure that any moment Shiva will leave her if they didn't proceed with the divorce and actually thought of giving their marriage another chance.

While Shiva just shrugged his shoulders in defeat.

"Meri taraf dekho."

Both obeyed as they glanced at her.

"Puri tarah se ek dusre se mukt hona chahte ho to ek asaan tareeka hai."

Both looked at her curiously as she removed some bhasm from her bag and sprayed it over them. It was just a pinch, but its effects started showing as their eyes stoned.

She closed her eyes and raised her hands. "Pehla padaav. Aalingan. Aise ek dusre ko gale lagao, ki maano dharti fatne wali hai, aur iss dharti mein tum dono ke alaawa aur koi nahi hai. Sirf tum dono ho, ek dusre ke saathi. Aage badho aur Shiva, apni biwi ko apni baahon mein bhar lo"

Shiva moved forward and pulled Raavi in his arms as he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her incredibly closer to his body. She gasped as she trembled in his hold. She had her hands wrapped around his neck as she breathed in his scent.

And as she heard him sigh, she knew he was doing the same thing.

"Kaisa lag raha hai? Accha lag raha hai na?"

Both could just nod as they were lost in each other's touch.

"Bahut accha. Ab dono ek dusre ki aankhon mein dekho aur ek dusre ka chumban le lo."

"Chumban?" Both gasped as they heard her, but they were unable to look at her due to her magic.

"Haan Chumban. Jise angrezi mein 'Kiss' kehte hain. Agar tum dono apne andar ke rishte ki har dor ko kaat ke fekna chahte ho to chumban hona zaroori hai. Itne mein hi dar gaye to Samarpan kaise karoge?"

Both stared at each other with wide eyes as they gasped in shock yet again.

What was this woman talking about?

How was it?

I'm not sure whether magic or hypnotism is real, but science says otherwise. So I am just believing it🤣

Kudos to those who had guessed it right, It was indeed Raavi who had heard the conversation, had to do it so as to not stretch the inevitable unnecessarily.
