ShiVi shippers LOOK AWAY. I'm having a shipper struggle moment rn 😂😭. ( Also this became a whole college paper . Sorry 😭😭😭)
Shiri could be so interesting. And this is them as characters and how theyve been portrayed, not a weird in law cheating family trash. Nope🤮.
My last two braincells:
Braincell 1: you know shivi aren't really the wall to the back scene, because they've written raavi as the classic "choddo, koi dekhlega", kya Kar Raha scene . You know who would not only ace the back to wall , but up the stakes ? Rishi..
Braincell 2: Nooooo omegod stop it . Stop sabotaging me like this. Stop Stop Stop.
I think , this is partly cause of the sloppy screen writing for raavi and dev. No insult meant to the actress she does a great job with what's been handed to her .
I can't get into this raavi's head space at all. Her redeeming trait is her beauty ?? She just seems very vapid sometimes, and like a cheap rip off off geet from jab we met. There are just no layers to her.
Where are her hangup about being abandoned because she lost her parents as her child ?
What are things she believes in ? Loves ? Will fight for ? Hates?
All I have a picture of ,is a pretty girl who lots of boys had a crush on . Is a conformist.
I get they were maybe going for a sexy banter that builds frustration, heated fights leading to heated looks dynamic for shiVi , but that's not what's come through at all. It makes me think of ahem other couple this would've worked all too well on .
Dev is just a coward . Image in my head : dumb pretty boy of college /jock. Not even that, an extra in a movie. Period
The girl had to risk it for him, and still hasn't processed in his dumb brain. Rishita has every reason to question if he loves her anymore , because she's the one doing the heavy lifting here and risking all.
Rishita and Shiva on the other hand have been written mostly well , is almost like there were a different set of writers for them.
Both of them have layers upon layers . Guilt , that she trapped dev into marrying her. Guilt that he's trapped raavi into something she doesn't want , and anxiety that it was societal pressures that convinced their partners to choose them ,and not an individual choice.
Anger /insecurities /uncertainty : Rishita angry that she has to compromise all the time , loves how the pandyas are so close knit, angry how they still treat her like an outsider. Uncertain where she belongs or what to do, upset that they seem to include raavi in a way they don't with her .
Plus, she loves Dev the person (snorts, god knows what she saw in him) . No other man would've been acceptable, she risked societal disapproval, gave up a whole world she's known for him . And what does she get in return? Half assed depictions of love and blame from the very man she did this for.
Rishita's not perfect . But like dhara said , galat baatein don't make a galat person. Something they convienently ignore when it comes to rishita .
Also TW:// ( mentions of suicidal thoughts)
Given all of this , the confusion, guilt ,uncertainty , anxiety and anger she makes a prime candidate for suicide attempts or at least thoughts .
Shiva is so like rishita. A Volatile ,brewing mixture of anger, guilt ,confusion and insecurities. Angry about his feelings for raavi, angry that he feels uncomfortable in his own skin now (at himself and raavi) I think they've also done this with rishita , made her self conscious of herself in a way she wasn't before. Insecure because it's like Ravvi chose him as husband ™️, any male - to salvage her reputation first . Second , because he was Pandya . A part of the family she's always longed to be a part of . That there's no place for just him - just plain Shiva ,in her life or heart.
That she has no interest in knowing him, as a person one on one . Not to mention the agony of knowing her ideal type seems to be your brother . In many ways the opposite of you.
I mean imagine living with looking at your partners kinda ex day in and out. Ouch . This for both shiva and Rishita. To make it worse the family seems to constantly alienate them , make them the target of blame and anger , protecting Dev and Raavi for the most part.
Additionally, which is weird as hell. None of the pandyas seem to have support systems outside the house (friends , other shop owner friends , neighbor friends hell even other distant cousins even) . This was straight up weird.
And like so many of us have mentioned: why do the elders in the family take it when the others taunt shiva for not being college educated ? They should have shut that down immediately. The unpad unpad remarks must feel like salt on wounds .
Why didn't they encourage him to look an alternate education? Or show him as being the street smart sharp guy, who has his hand on the pulse of the market , who is king at negotiating deals from wholesalers . Is a local legend of sorts? But noooooooo.
OK. Before I shut up and stop writing an entire paper here imma just get this out.
Shiva and Rishita's theme song /bgm would be all of You by John Legend . Sure ,perfect for them as shivrish the couple, but who they are as people and what they want of life and love .
Thank you for tagging! I agree with your analysis of the characters.. Raavi is extremely shallow at this point with nothing going for her character wise except "Somnath ki sabse khoobsurat ladki" 😆
This is why though shiva's actions are questionable and he is trolled as being a bahu and all, I can't blame him for pushing Raavi away! 🤷 Like you said, she just wants him a husband from a place of convenience, with no interest in who or what he is as a person
Shiva and rishita are so similar to each other as such complex, layered characters that I would love their dynamic to be explored more! Unfortunately both of them have been getting the short shrift from their families in different ways 🤪
I have no interest in dev so I won't speak about him 🤣
