Hey guys! đ€
My name is Aditii and I'm new here (much like everyone else). I've been intrigued by this show from the promos and I've watched just the first episode. Here are my thoughts so far, and some questions I have.
What I like:
* From the promos, it seemed like the main characters are Dhara, Gautam, and his three kid brothers. I was so happy that there was no huge big extended family full of evil people that are against the "nay bahu" like in GHKKPM or YRKKH. I wanted to watch to see the love story unfold between two such sweet individuals - Gautam and Dhara. However, it looks like Gautam's mother is still in the picture. Is she a good person? I really hope she is kind-hearted and reasonable. She doesn't need to be joined at the hip with Dhara, but she at least needs to be warm and affectionate.
* The Gujarati backdrop! It's not a new thing in ITV but as a Gujarati myself, I'm never tired of it. So far, they have gotten the Gujarati accent and grammar right! Apart from a few SAB TV shows like Papad Pol, TMKOC, and SRJMB, I haven't seen many good portrayals of Gujaratis. And definitely not on Star Plus. Lol, SNS is an insult to Gujaratis.
* Both the FL and ML seem intelligent and strong yet kind, emotional, and sensible. Dhara isn't a conventional doormat and "bechari" kind of FL. She is kind, down-to-earth, yet holds her head high. Gautam isn't an angry young man or some misogynistic jerk. He is responsible and sensible, but yet so naive and sweet. I love both of them.
* Both the FL and ML are already friends! They are on good terms, they know each other and their families, so we don't have to go through the god awful hate to love journey. Their process of falling in love will be so much more subtle and sweeter since they are already good friends.
What I don't like:
* The fact that even this show has through and through evil vamps like Anita and her aunt. In the beginning when Anita was introduced, I was interested in knowing how the relationship dynamics will change between Anita, Gautam, and Dhara. I wanted to see why Anita and Gautam's relationship doesn't work out and how Gautam and Dhara get together. But then they showed that she and her aunt were just after his store! Why do ITV shows need to have evil female vamps to advance the plot? Why can't they show subtle dynamic human relationships? Problems and obstacles can come from the outside too, right? Financial problems, career setbacks, health scares, etc.? There are many ways to keep a story going. Why does there need to be a back and forth between the "good bahu" and "evil vamp?"
Anyway, these are my initial thoughts. It's too early to say whether this show goes on my must-watch list. The cards are still out on this one. Regardless, you may see me around here occasionally. If not, you can find me on other forums as well.
What are your guys' thoughts about the show?
