Almost everyone is questioning HUM TV's decision to award Sadqey Tumhary, a flop serial that won a total of 10 awards including Popular and Jury. However, fans and those that are not fans' are busy questioning the decision and authenticity of the award show as Sadqey Tumharay has not been well-received by critics and viewers alike, as shown by the negative reviews and falling TRPs.

I too, like others, had problem with this and while discussing this with an insider, I came to know that the awards are not bogus, at least the popular category. According to an insider, Mahira Khan indeed won the Best Actress award, which might have something to do with the Saba Qamar votes being divided though. Also, it has been said that the channel made the decision to give these awards to Sadqey Tumharay in order to present it as a success because the channel did not want to bring shame by accepting that their biggest serial was a dud.

Additionally, it has been heard that the only award that was controversial was the writer award.It's believed that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was a lock for the award, but was to be given it for Bunty I Love You, but upon insistence he was awarded the same award for Sadqey Tumhary. It has been said that this created quite an issue inside.

Lastly, another reason is the fact that HUM TV enjoys a young and romantic image in the mind of the viewers and it did not want to compromise on that, hence it awarded the awards to Sadqey Tumharay, which fits its image. The insider says that it wanted to continue the image created by Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzaar Hai and no other show on the channel met that image hence Sadqey was the only option. The only other serial in the running for the Best Serial was Bunty I Love You, but it lost as well. Channel's biggest hit of the year, Digest Writer, was not even in the run due to the image factor.

Secondly, there is another theory going on. A big producer says the award were clever and correct. He simply questions, other than Sadqey, which show has a recall value the previous year? HUM TV churned out flops after flops, dramas like Ahista Ahita, Firaaq though biggies were flops with no recall value so the channel had no option but to give it to Sadqey Tumharay, which even though a flop has certain value.'

Also, contrary to the popular belief, this has nothing to do with the channel trying to make Mahira Khan happy. The two are already on great terms.

Hum Awards 2015

Even though this year's Hum Awards have just wrapped up in Dubai, there's already murmur about next year's prestigious event.

According to reliable sources close to the ceremony, Hum Awards 2016 will be held in London. While the first two events were held in Pakistan, it was the first time this year that the event was taken outside of the country, in Dubai. No doubt, the broadcaster, Hum TV, will use the event as a marketing tool for the growing success of the brand in the UK. While no date has been confirmed, it is expected to take place around the same time next year.

Legendary Pakistani actor, Javed Sheikh also mentioned London as the next destination for the awards at the recently concluded event.

This year's event will be shown on Hum TV worldwide next month.
