Thayir semiya - a replacement for curd rice

1 cup semiya (vermicelli)
3 tbsp cup grated coconut
1 cup curds/yoghurt
1 carrot grated - optional
1 tsp - mustard
1 tsp - urad dhal
5 green chillies( or more as per requirement)
coriander leaves
few cashew nuts and raisins
3 tsp oil

Preparation :
Boil water and add the vermicelli. After it gets cooked within few mins, drain the water and wash in cold water so that the strands donot stick with one another. Beat the curds to get thick butter milk. After semiya is cooled, add coconut, butter milk and required salt and mix well[*]. In a kadai, heat oil, splutter mustard seeds and roast urdhal dhal, add the chillies pieces and put this on the thayir semiya . Garnish with grated carrots and coriander leaves and roasted cashew and raisins. Chill and serve with Lemon pickle or mango thokku.

[*]Alternately , you can dry grind chillies and coconut , mix with the thick buttermilk and add this to cooled semiya.
