here is my latest installment.

CHAPTER 6

"I met ajay in a restaurant. I had eaten but forgot my wallet. the waiter was creating such a ruckus that I was really embarrassed. a gentleman came over & volunteered to pay my bill. he was sweet, handsome & friendly. I got to know that he was the famous businessman ajay. we became friends & I gradually fell in love with him. I told him about my feelings but he rejected me. he seems like he too loved me, but no. I am not giving up! I will make him like me!" deepa finished off her sentence determinedly.

kailash was staring at deepa. his mouth slightly open. this girl was like no other. she was stubborn & determined. "why doesn't ajay like me? what's wrong with me?" deepa questioned kailash eagerly. "errr…." kailash took in her from top to toe. deepa had curly hair piled on top of her head & dark rimmed glasses. she wasn't much of a looker except for her pearly whites. deepa had a beautiful smile. a smile that made kailash smile along with her.

"well.. what er? tell me seriously & frankly. what's wrong with me?" she questioned kailash again. "okie, if I help you get Ajay, what will I get in return?" he questioned deepa back. "hmmmm… I'll give you enough money to set up your own photo shop." she intoned cheerfully. "done. now let's go shopping!" kailash stood up quickly & dragged deepa along by the arm.

Wonderful pictures. She is very pretty. Seems like your story is going in the lines of Mills & Boons, Harlequins..romance stories. Keep it up. It is very interesting. when I read your story I am imagining watching it like a serial. Thank you, can't wait for more.

CHAPTER 7

"not this one. try this." kailash handed deepa a maroon knee length dress. "do I have to do all these? I hate shopping!" grumbled deepa softly. "I heard that. if you want to get ajay's attention, you have to look glamorous. I have photographed lots of high-class ladies. they all look elegant & beautiful. so you have to look like them. get it? now go change." he ordered sternly. giving him a mock salute in army style, deepa slipped into the changing room.

it took her a full ten minutes before she emerged from the changing room. "you look good! this is the way you should dress." kailash smiled at deepa & got back a huge smile in return. "really? I look good? so what else do I have to do?" she asked enthusiastically. "one step at a time lady. we are done for today. now buy that dress & go for lunch, your treat of course!" kailash laughed at deepa good-naturedly. after paying for the dress, deepa treated kailash to a hearty meal at a posh restaurant.

an hour later, they left the restaurant & deepa said she had to get back home early. kailash volunteered to walk her home like a true gentleman. "kailash, do you think ajay will like me> after I have totally changed?" deepa asked suddenly. "he definitely will. he doesn't know how lucky he is to find someone who loves him as much as you do." kailash absent-mindedly took deepa's hand. "oh sorry!" he apologised to deepa, blushing slightly. "it's okay & thanks for the compliment & for walking me home." smiled deepa. "she does have a beautiful smile!" kailash thought to himself as they continued their way back home.

CHAPTER 8

kailash's cell phone rang at 4 in the morning. "hello?" he picked it up & snapped irritably at the person on the other end. "kailash? is that you? it's me deepa. can you meet me today? there is a huge party ajay is throwing in 2 days. I want to be there & hopefully I can impress him with my makeover!" she bubbled on, completely unaware that it was 4 am. "deepa. later on? if you noticed, it's FOUR in the morning. I'll meet you at 10 down the Chennai caf." kailash sleepily assured deepa & fell asleep even without hanging up.

deepa was in a totally hyper mood that day. she reached the caf 2 hours earlier & had downed more than 6 coffees while waiting for kailash. " did you have to cal me at 4 in the morning? and it wasn't even an emergency!!" kailash scolded deepa the moment he saw her. "well it was an emergency for ME." she replied cheekily. sighing in exasperation, kailash informed deepa that they were going to the hail saloon after breakfast. "that is to get those wires you call your hair straightened! "kailash teased deepa playfully. she tried to throw an ice-cube at him but missed.

she spent 2 hours in the saloon & came out looking smashing. the hair stylist had pruned & styled & straightened deepa's wiry hair in between lots of disapproving clucks. after the straightening, he made deepa buy 4 bottles of hair care products & also got a promise that she'll follow the hair care regime strictly. kailash just stood by, half admiring deepa's new sleek locks & half laughing at the lecture given by the hair-stylist to her.
