There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you-Maya Angelou

Jeeva smiled warmly and greeted her boss " good afternoon sir and welcome back.I hope you and your family had a great time during your vacation."

" Thank you jeeva and yes,we all had a great time.Travelling really opens your mind and soul to all the different culture and lives of people all over the world."

K.k. came and stood next to jeeva and looked down to the road far below and then he looked at her " Pardon me,but if i may. What were you thinking as you looked down on the world below? the reason i ask is because i know you were thinking about something important and probably something you lost a long while ago."

" old news, old memories and stuff that we need to burn away for they clutter our mind and daily lives."

K.k. stood waiting and jeeva knowing him too well knew that he would not take silence for an answer " i was looking down from this 13th floor and everybody down there on the road looked so small and tiny and it made me wonder how much tinier we must look to god and if he really can make out any of us from the other."

K.k. smiled " no,there was more in those moments for i stood for nearly a minute at the door watching you as your soul reflected in your face."

Jeeva turned away slightly irritated for this intrusion into her privacy and k.k " child,it is going to be nearly 8 years since you came here looking for a job and i think it is time you lay your burden down or at least share it with me since you cannot share it with anyone else.I am like your father and you know how much i care about you.so let it out jeeva for these wounds, these painful memories will eat you like acid, from inside out."

Jeeva looked at him sadly " i was thinking if we look so tiny to god who is supposed to be living in heaven then how tiny will our tears look to him and what about those like me who cry but cry inside and cannot even show it.will god be able to see those invisible tears?"

K.k. was lost for an answer " jeeva,i cried those tears too when i realised that me and my wife would not be able to have a child of our own.As a man i cannot show my tears and moreover i am the head of a huge enterprise and so i too like you have to cry invisible tears. But they have not come, those sad tears for a few years now and they have not come because you are here now and i look on you as my very own daughter."

Jeeva looked at him with gratitude " boss, you are really a kind and sweet person and i thank you for your love and appreciate all that you have done for me and my family."

" If you can give me five minutes i will go ahead and see if everything is ready in the conference hall and will wait for you to arrive."

Saying this, jeeva smiled and hurriedly left the room, leaving K.k. to wonder as to what and how much sadness lay in the young woman's heart.

He looked out the cabin and seeing the office empty for the staff has all left to assemble in the conference room,K.K. peeped out the window and stared at the road below and whispered a prayer " lord,if you can hear me.please grant me this wish. Please bring peace and happiness in my childs heart and life.i beg of you."

Inside the High court, waiting for his case number to be called,Raman felt something warm rush into his soul and he hurriedly took a deep breath and whispered " jeeva,i love you."

A secret love is beautiful, sweet and sacred when it's just a light infatuation; but when that person reaches over and touches you in the heart, making it alive in a way it has never known, that secret love becomes frightening, because you can never make them love you, you would never want to make them love you...but all the same, no matter which way you view it, they don't love you...and your heart doesn't know how to beat the same.

REDEMPTION 177

I am the sun and i am high in the sky
I see everything for i am also the eye in the sky
fly, crawl, run, burrow you cannot hide how much ever you try
from my womb all that is has come delivered as i came
four to five billion years ago
I am the light,i am the final fire and i burn bright
i am the record,i am the chronicle and in me lie all your lives
for i am heaven and i am hell

Deja vu

"It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life."? Terry Pratchett

The small range of hills stretched into the horizon and they lay like a huge python swollen after a huge meal and none of the peaks ranged more than a km in height.

Thenmozhi looked back to the path and land that lay behind them and looked forward at the land that stretched beyond them and sighed " Buddha i am not yet seventeen and i suddenly felt my life flash before me."

Buddha looked at her and then back down at the forest and remained silent for the big cat knew what his companion felt for he felt the same in his soul.

Thenmozhi slowly sank to her knees and then sat down more comfortably and stared at the rising sun and smiled.

" From the time i can remember,i saw his face in the sun. From the time i could feel and understand what my soul felt i knew Azhagan and i were one and meant for each other for a life and for a purpose. As i sit here watching the same sun,the mighty judge who sees all,i know in my heart that i am pure and that my purpose is more important than what i want for my own. That sense of deja vu and seeing and feeling my life flashing before my eyes maybe some potent warnings that my end is here and that i and you are walking into mortal danger."

" my queen,i have tried hard to use my senses to penetrate the forest and those that dwell there but i am just not able to go beyond that veil and i also feel that our powers will be useless against these beings. But,something tells me that it is all for the good and in the end,we all die eventually and today is a good day for that."

Thenmozhi gently scratched Buddha's ears and neck and he licked her hand with his rough tongue and as one they stood and readied themselves for the descent and foray into the forest.

She took the water bottle made out of dry bark and poured half of it into Buddha's throat and the rest she drank and with their thirst satiated, they slowly and carefully made their way down the mountain and after an hour entered the dark and threatening forest.

The minute they both stepped foot into the pristine green forest, they threw their senses all around them and immediately something hit them back with such a force that both crumpled to the ground in pain.

Stunned by this unknown attack by an unseen foe, they looked at each other and then hurriedly looked around in all directions for any sign of enemies but for the silence broken by the many different calls of birds high in the forest canopy, there was no sign or movement around them.

Thenmozhi hurried and checked Buddha for any injuries or bleeding but the mighty cat slowly stood up and growled angrily and whispered " my queen,i am okay and i can see that you are okay. But i am still recovering from the shock to my head and my senses."

Thenmozhi stood still and used her physical powers to peer deep into the forest without using any of her other super powers that she was born with and was disappointed to find no foe or movement anywhere.

" Buddha, listen to me.I am going to throw my senses using all my powers and i want you to do nothing but wait and watch as to what is going on.Please,i request you to not to do anything until i give the orders.Okay."

Buddha very worried but realising that it was a pretty prudent plan agreed and watched with anxiety and bated breath as Thenmozhi gathered her powers and the forest around her crackled with her energy and in the dim light of the forest, her eyes lit up in green flames and then a huge thunder like sound erupted and an unseen force attacked Thenmozhi. But she was ready for it and blocked it and fought back with all the strength she could gather but in the end was defeated as she was struck down to the ground and she lay screaming in pain as something or someone held her mind in a vise like grip.

It took nearly twenty minutes for her to recover but recover she did and slowly regained her strength and energy and got to her feet and looked at Buddha " well my four legged friend, take it from me,that is not something you would like to experience, ever. But one thing is now clear and that is whatever exists or makes its living here is much stronger and superior to us both and the only way to handle it is to forward and boldly face it and see what it is exactly we are up against."

Time moved and the sun moved from its birthplace in the east and rapidly made its way to its death and disappearance into the western horizon and both Buddha and Thenmozhi walked many a mile and then they heard the roar and thunder of a mighty river not far from their location.

But to their surprise, the forest gave way to a large clearing and both saw that the mountain had been carved into weird structures and they all lined along what looked like a gateway that ran into the womb of the mountain and into darkness and unknown depths.

Thenmozhi suddenly fell to her knees and unslung the bow, arrows and the shield that lay on her back and placed it gently on the ground. Then she removed the belt that held both the mighty sword and its companion the short dagger that once belonged to Azhagan and lay it in front of her on the ground.

Buddha not knowing what his friend was doing decided that the best thing to do was wait patiently and watch her back in case some hidden enemy launched a sudden attack and that too when she was kneeling and unarmed.

In the hot and humid forest atmosphere,Thenmozhi closed her eyes and whispered " My lord,my love,my light that shines as the sun in my soul.Speak to me for i need your words of wisdom."

Thenmozhi sat in a trance like state for many a minute and then a light seemed to flicker deep in her thoughts and she heard the word, a single word "Sairandhrivanam " and immediately everything about the place made perfect sense and she knew where they were.

She stood up with a huge smile and screamed to Buddha "Sairandhrivanam" my friend. This place is similar to one i know and it is called "Sairandhrivanam ".

I am Thenmozhi and i rise now for the destination is here and my own destiny is at hand. These are the stories of my voyage from madurai to a new life and a new destiny.I am heaven and hell.I am fire and water and i will bring peace to you.

One life goes and sadly it goes on for the rest

The friday which just passed was numbered 24th of march although it felt like friday the 13th and well when bad news brimming with a sad and tragic story is told, everday feels like friday the 13th filled with bad omens.

Gopi,my gym coach told me that he was leaving to salem that afternoon and would be back on sunday night. When i asked him if there was any family engagement or emergency,he shook his head sadly and mentioned the name Sarathy and said that he didn't have much time left.

I looked at him ' you mean, your pal sarathy with whom you came along to chennai from salem in 2002 or 2003.But i thought he was getting better after having his leg amputated and the cancer nipped not at the knee but at the hip.( as if one can get better after having a leg removed).

Gopi looked at me " ille sir,the cancer has spread and has lodged in multiple places and tragically and most importantly in the brain and sarathy has begun to lose speech and memory. He was transferred to salem about a week back and the doctors now say that he has less than a week or at the most two weeks left. So,i am leaving today so that i can spend some time with him before it is too late."

Sarathy is 36 years old and was in love last year and was about to get married, when the niggling pain in his knee became too much to bear and after a checkup and many other checkups was diagnosed with cancer and the dreaded word " Malignant".

See,sarathy is a single child to his parents and whose father died a few years back and well no,points for guessing, cancer it was.Mother is a paavam and poor and sarathy was the sole bread winner and sadly he made a few costly blunders when he tried to start a gym in salem and lost what little he had and was debt ridden, unlike my coach gopi who still works as a coach and makes pretty good salary and who is happy and content.

When we were informed about the poor sarathy's condition last year, many of us contributed to his surgery and wished him well.

What is sickening and what hurts the most is seeing poor people, young people, children who cannot afford treatment fall sick and that too with cancer and other deadly serious and expensive diseases.

It is at these times i realise that there is no justice,no god and that life is just not fair.

My soul goes out to sarathy who was on the brink of a beautiful life with the love of his and now he gasps his last breath and is living his last moments.Does it make any sense and to think how many sad and tragic stories like this must be happening right now all over the world.

It takes my memory back to my kid brother Navin who died of blood cancer at the age of three.

Oh,the lady Sarathy loved is now happily married and the marriage took place a few months after sarathy was diagnosed with cancer.

SINGAM 3- MY THOUGHTS RATHER THAN MY OPINION

When was the last time you went to a film or at least saw a film in which the villain was introduced in his undies and that too in his own jet plane and pumping weights.

14 years. It's nearly 14 years since Kaakha Kaakha released and we were introduced to Anbuselvan IPS and the transformation of suriya into a believable and bankable star and hero who could carry an entire film on his broad and strong shoulders. But this transformation began when he delivered himself to the maverick creator Bala who after the hard won success of Sethu gave another gem of a film called NANDA and in the process gifted suriya a shove of many steps up the ladder of superstardom. But the man instead cashed in some mediocre films which flopped and were quickly forgotten and thankfully suriya then teamed up with class whose name is Gautham Vasudev Menon and Kaakha Kaakha happened.

Lightning struck twice and the very same year of 2003,suriya teamed up with Bala once again and Pithamagan was gifted to movie lovers.Forget the fact that chiyaan won the national award for best actor, the real hero and scene stealer was suriya and i as a movie fan fell under his spell and to date think that laila and suriya did an immensely difficult job of making people laugh in an otherwise serious and dark film that was also filled with violence and gore.

For one to better understand comedy and its difficulties, you have take in the void left behind by the one and only modern comedy superstar Vaigai puyal Vadivelu which has yet to be filled although many nitwits and pretenders like santhanam, karunas, parotta suri and excreta, sorry etcetera tried, still try and have fallen flat on their faces and arses. So,being funny and making people laugh is serious business and needs genuine talent and timing. The comedy scenes in Pithamagan were amazing and i think they will stand the test of time, now and forever.

But coming back to suriya and his career, you can notice from his filmography that the man after one hit goes on and stumbles, falls with really puzzling choices of bad films and then climbs back from the pit with another hit and then seems to mysteriously fall into the familiar pattern of flops and blunders.

But for the first part of singam which released in 2010 and was comfortably supported by a great cast like prakash raj, nasser, radha ravi and the one and one and only vivek, the other two namely singam 2 and the current singam 3 are just time pass movies and can be edited down to about 20 to 25 minutes of watching if one cuts out the forgettable songs, forgettable villian's,forgettable shouting's and screaming's which give one piles in their ears and eyes and then the comedy scenes of singam 3.

I don't get it why or how a decent director like Hari would resort to such crass films and try to pass it off as a third installment of a hit franchise. It seems more like hit and run and grab, make as much as possible with the remaining hype from the first film.

Why brother,i beg of you why?

Okay, first things first.what does a movie goer want in a film?

1- a good okay forget good, but at least a decent story
2-a decent cast to act the story
3- a decent villian for the hero to fight against
4-a few good romance scenes
5- a few good emotional scenes
6-a few believable fights and please without strings and cables for we know it and curse it.
okay,that's it.

Is that too much to ask.

why are such great actors like Sharath babu,Anushka shetty,Nasser,Radha ravi,Vijaykumar wasted and given such little screen time.Raadhika Sarathkumar comes just in a couple of scenes and bloody hell chews up everybody with her skill and presence.I wish DGP Sethamizharasi had also acted in the film for she would have been enough to lift the film from its boring and painful depths.

The only thing singam 3 gave me was a splitting headache and the eternal question as to where our indian cinema in general is heading.

Makkal theerpu magesan theerpu is the logical answer hari and his kind of directors will put forward to my queries and one has to just nod and accept for if donald trump could be elected president of the so called developed and no.1 nation in this world,i guess singam 3,kabali etc are bearable and most importantly understandable.

Suriya, there is a Anbuselvan IPS in you, shakti from pithamagan in you and a bloody good nanda in you.

Please.make all the crores that you want for i bet you really deserve all of them but please don't let the actor in you die away or lock it up in a cage like the superstar did.Is it too much to ask of you to act in some good stories once in a while and that too with a limited budget.

This request goes to all of you current superheroes and please when you have time, you can take a page from Dhanush's career as slowly but steadily he is becoming a real superstar and not content with that is already a super producer and is now going to launch his first directorial attempt titled "POWER PANDI".

I have left out rather refrained from putting down a lot of real and honest observations and i think that is because of my new found maturity and also learning not to be judgemental or critical of the efforts of others.

The headache is slowly vanishing and the Dolopar tablet is doing its bit.No more tamil cinema for the next few months and right now my mind is filled with the coming of BAHUBALI-2.

Jannal oram-9 Madras high court

"good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws" Plato( nearly 2400 years back)

Raman dressed in his working clothes stood quietly and patiently for his client to arrive and as always found new things to marvel at in the high court of madras where he practiced law and this invariably helped while away the time and also take his mind of the case at hand.He took great delight in learning new things everyday and although some of his colleagues found it a bit eccentric, raman did not bother too much about it and persisted in something new about law and its origins.

But his mind always pondered over the three important works which were milestones in law and administration of the indian history and they were The Dharmashastras based on ancient Dharmastras texts, which themselves emerged from the literary tradition of the Vedas,The Arthashastra, dating from the 400 BC, and the Manusmriti from 100 BCE.

Someday Raman hoped to put all this history of indian law and its origins into a nice novel that would transcend boundaries and time and in which the creators would come back and see for themselves the good and bad their creations had achieved in the modern world. The law created all those thousands of years ago still echoed in the halls of justice and in the lives of all Indian people who still reeled under the caste system and how all lives were goverened by the dharmas of the four varnas namely the Brahmins: priests, scholars and teachers, the Kshatriyas: rulers, warriors and administrators, the Vaishyas: merchants, the Shudras: laborers and service providers.

But as always his thoughts were all about the madras high court and how it worked and had worked over the years and sometimes it was a miracle that it even functioned so well, given all the corruption, strikes and scandals that shook its very foundations pretty often.

The Madras High Court is located at Parry's Corner in an extent of 36 acres.Chennai " 600 104. This is the pin code allotted by the Department of Posts to the zone occupied by the Madras High Court. Any such "zone" has to have its boundaries. In our land, if there is a boundary, it has its own boundary deity. In the villages, this deity is called the sentinel goddess.

The High Court campus also has two sentinel deities. One, a statue of Rajaji in the north-east; the other, a statue of T. Prakasamgaru in the south-west. The two roads stretching northward from these two statues constitute the boundaries of the High Court. One is Prakasam Road (formerly Broadway), and the other is Rajaji Road (the old North Beach Road).

What is the link between these two eminent leaders enshrined as statues, and a campus reputed to house the largest number of courts in Asia (from the small causes courts' to the High Court)?

Rajaji

Born on December 10, 1878, Rajaji after completing his schooling and undergraduate studies, did his Law course at the Madras Law College. He was Chairman of the Salem Municipality and also had a flourishing legal practice there. However, in the interest of his children's education, he landed in Madras with bag and baggage in March 1919. He had planned to practice at the High Court. But the fate of the nation changed that course. Gandhiji issued the call for a non-cooperation movement' against the colonial government. Heeding this call, Rajaji plunged into the movement, not even bothering to unpack the boxes containing legal tomes. Soon enough, he expressed opposition to the visit of the Prince of Wales and was imprisoned.

A person who had the potential to become the foremost legal luminary in India, spent years in the darkness of prison. But history adorned him differently. Law's loss became the legislature's gain.

The Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950. It was Rajaji's privilege, as the first Indian Governor-General, to anoint Dr. Rajendra Prasad as the first President of India. What an honour!

Prakasamgaru

The life of the south-western sentinel deity, Prakasamgaru, had been differently moulded. He studied in England and became a barrister. He registered himself at the Madras High Court, which had been denying opportunities to Indian lawyers, and achieved eminence in his profession. His reputation as a lawyer, and his professional income, were both legendary. He too responded to Mahatma Gandhi's clarion call, renounced his lucrative legal practice and threw himself into the freedom movement. He never again entered the High Court precincts. But, he came to be hailed as the Lion of Andhra (Andhra Kesari). It was said that a day before his arrest, he returned a fee of Rs.1 lakh to his client and plunged himself into direct political action. Rs.1 lakh was a hefty sum 90 years ago.

Both these leaders had renounced their legal profession in response to Gandhiji's call for non-cooperation. There were also other similarities. Rajaji became the Premier of the Madras Presidency in 1937, and Prakasamgaru in 1946. In 1952, Rajaji took over as the Chief Minister of the State of Madras (now Tamil Nadu). Prakasamgaru assumed responsibilities as the Chief Minister of the State of Andhra Pradesh in 1953.

The Lion of Andhra launched an English journal; Rajaji extended his support to this venture, naming it Swarajya. Later Rajaji himself took charge of publishing it. It is noteworthy that instead of pleading as lawyers before judges, they played roles in the very appointment of High Court judges. Rajaji played a key role in ensuring that Madras was retained as the capital of the State that is today Tamil Nadu. Thanks to his efforts, the Madras High Court is still with Tamil Nadu.

Having failed to make Madras City a part of Andhra, Prakasamgaru formed the State of Andhra and established a new Andhra High Court at Guntur in 1953, incorporating the Andhra districts which had until then been under the jurisdiction of the Madras High Court.

Is it any cause for wonder that these two stalwarts stand guard today as the sentinel deities of the Madras High Court?

The Bar Council of India Rules prescribe strict regulations as to an advocates dress code. An advocate has no choice in the matter of dress while appearing in court and may not be permitted to appear if incorrectly attired.Advocates appearing in the Supreme Court, high court, subordinate courts, tribunals or authorities must wear the dress prescribed, which must be sober and dignified. Male advocates must wear a black buttoned-up coat, chapkan, achkan or a black sherwani, and white bands with advocate's gown or a black open-breasted coat, white shirt, white collar, stiff or soft, and white bands with advocate's gown. In either case long trousers (white, black striped or grey) or dhoti must be worn.

Wearing of an advocate's gown is optional except when appearing in the Supreme Court or in a high court.Certain high courts such as the Delhi High Court permit advocates not to wear a gown during the summer months.

Raman took the dress code prescribed for an advocate very seriously and so did all the other staff members who worked for Rangachari and Associates. The only allowance was leaving his coat unbuttoned until the last moment before his case was called and he had to go in and stand before the judge.Unlike many others of his profession,Raman liked to linger outside the courtroom and watch the comings, goings and happenings of the thousands who flocked to the courts for justice.

"Justice" thought raman and smiled for the word like love had so many shades and characters to it and in the hands of the good, the bad and the evil had been twisted and molested to shreds.

The courtroom, outside which he was standing, waiting for his case was on the second floor and Raman looked down and then casually looked straight ahead and his smile widened to a real happy one for he realised that he was facing the direction in which Jeeva had walked to her office and then wondered what she would be doing right now.

" probably what i am doing right now, buried deep in the days work and unlike me has maybe more on her plate than me" thought Raman as his mind seemed again to wander towards her and then he wondered if she would be catching the bus back to Saidapet and hoped that they could travel together again that evening.

Raman looked at his client Baburaj who was screaming some orders to his managers on his large and expensive cell phone and could not help laughing to himself for in his law firm, the man was called Bakery Babu for he owned a chain of famous bakeries in the city and who also had many cases filed against him by the income tax department for arrears in payment of taxes and for also for not declaring other sources of income which amounted to a few crores. The case had been dragging for many years now and finally heeding to their advice that it would be better to work out a settlement rather than prolong the process which eventually would be decided against him,Baburaj had agreed to the deal which had been hammered out by Raman and his team of assistants.

Raman worked as the first assistant to Krishnaswamy Iyer who was the head of Rangachari and associates,a law firm that had been around for nearly seventy years now.The late Rangachari was the grandfather of Mr.krishnaswamy Iyer and his brilliant genes had jumped, skipped his father Subramaniam iyer who had tried and fallen after many attempts to scale the mountain of a legacy left behind by his dad Rangachari and had quietly and meekly handed over the reins to his son Krishnaswamy the minute he finished his bar exams. But the young krishnaswamy iyer had been a constant visitor to the law firm from the time he was in school and knew most of the law and its workings by heart by the time he entered law college and also all its nooks and crannies and loop holes while growing up in his granddad's company and the old man had known that it would be his grandson who would carry forward his legacy and had groomed him pretty well.

Rangachari and associates was a law firm with nearly 25 employees of which five were senior advocates and the rest were juniors who assisted the seniors in preparing the case and there were also a few apprentices who came to do some practicals, thesis and sometimes just to write articles in their journals and blogs about law.But they were the outsiders and were never allowed into the sanctum sanctorum of their boss mr,krishnaswamy's cabin. In fact but for the five seniors, one of who was Raman, even the juniors rarely entered the big man's cabin.Mr.krishnaswamy very rarely stepped into the court and preferred to run all his cases through his army of black and whites ( black coat, white shirt and white pant and not to forget the black gown) who were all pretty good advocates themselves.

Rangachari and Associates handled only cases of clients involving economic offences, taxes and all its affiliated crimes and very rarely ever took on criminal cases. When such cases came to their doorstep they were quietly but discreetly steered to colleagues of mr.rangachari who he thought were good enough and met his high standards.Though there were many reasons as to why their law firm did not take up criminal cases, everyone who worked there knew that it all was due to one single case in which the great and elusive Rangachari had himself appeared and got his client acquitted. This was the very famous and sensational case in which a leading kollywood actress had been charged with murdering her husband who himself was a famous director.

But Rangachari had broken all the witnesses on stand through a brilliant cross examination and a few months later the lady had walked out a free woman and had gone on to inherit everything that belonged to her late husband.

Rumors soon spread that she was actually the killer and many thought that rangachari had known it and instead chosen to defend the lady for sexual favors.Something had broken in advocate rangachari and soon he stopped coming to court and began to restrict himself to handling and building the case with his juniors and letting them handle it in the court.

Unlike criminal cases, cases involving economic offences were boring, slow and a long drawn process and all the clients wanted was time and they got the time in years and more.

Raman raised his hand and waved to his client bakery babu who hurriedly ended the call he was on and both of them entered the court room.Raman bowed slightly to the presiding judge shambashivam who flashed a brilliant smile " good morning raman and how is rangachari doing?"

Raman smiled " he is well sir and sends you his regards."

The friendship between the judge and Rangachari went a long way back into the black and white era and Raman shook his head in awe for it never failed to surprise him as to how well his boss and his family were connected and how much good will and clean reputation they had in the corridors of law and justice.

The judge Mathivaanan listened to both the government prosecutor and Raman and then looked at Bakery babu " sir,if rich people like you avoid paying taxes, how can our country prosper and move forward. Please, pay your taxes properly and live in peace rather than spending all your life and time in these courts."

The judge then looked at both the prosecutor and Raman " work out the deal and settlement amount quickly and lets end this case soon."

Bakery Baburaj as usual offered to drive raman back to the law firm and as usual he politely refused and since it was nearly lunch time headed to the chambers allotted for his firm.Rangachari and associates had been using the same chambers for nearly sixty years now and some of the furniture whispered that they belonged to another era,a bygone era when India was young, innocent and stared wide eyed at the world still in awe of its new found independence and freedom

Muthu the man friday and odd job man poked his head in " sir,the usual mini meal" and Raman nodded " yes, muthu and thank you" and offered a 100 rs note,of which 85 would go for the meal and 15 would go to muthu as a tip.

Raman removed his coat and hung it on the multi hooked stand and stood and wondered as to how many times the great man,the late mr.Rangachari would have hung his coat in the same hook that he had just placed his coat in and sank into the faded and yet comfortable leather chair and let the outside world and its sounds soothe him.

The constant hum of voices were only often broken by the cawing of crows that reached a crescendo at lunch hours for it meant food for hungry mouths who tried to fill their bellies with some food although their souls remained starved and hungry as they waited for the courts to deliver them justice and the much needed sanctuary that bails and advance bails could provide.

Sometimes Raman would hear wails and loud cries as some poor souls screamed in vain as if they wanted the very gods in heaven to hear their pleas as they lost their cases and the judgement was delivered. The cries were when innocent people lost their wealth and properties due to the mismanagement of some jackal who had betrayed them or when a woman lost her status as wife after her husband divorced her and many a time when a parent lost a custody battle and possession of their child or children.

For Raman, more than the two sentinels Rajaji and T. Prakasamgaru who stood watch as statues and constantly reminded everybody that truth will prevail in the end,one other statue always seemed more significant and relevant for todays times as the story of that man was enough for both judge and advocates to practice law the right way no matter what the cost or personal loss to him.

The statue was of Ellalan or Manu Needhi Cholan, the title that was bestowed upon him for his landmark judgement in the case against his own son the prince of the kingdom.

Legend has it that the king Ellalan hung a giant bell in front of his courtroom for anyone needing justice to ring. One day, he came out on hearing the ringing of the bell by a Cow. Upon enquiry, he found that the Calf of that Cow was killed under the wheels of his chariot. In order to provide justice to the cow, he killed his own son Veedhividangan under the chariot as a punishment to himself i.e. make himself suffer as much as the cow.Impressed by the justice of the king, Lord Shiva blessed him and brought back the calf and his son alive. He has been mentioned in the Silappatikaram and Periya Puranam. His name has since then been used as a metaphor for fairness and justice in Tamil literature.

Muthu entered in a hurry and placing Raman's mini meal that consisted of four small helpings of sambhar sadham, coconut rice, curd rice and rava kesari left in the same speed, but not before saying " bye sir".

Raman as was his practice when he had lunch in the chambers, scooped out a bit of curd rice and opening the window placed it on the ledge and immediately a female crow landed softly near his hand and gently pecked his fingers in an action of thanks and also in frustration for not having been fed for the past two days and soon the male crow followed and both instead of polishing off the food, began to caw in happiness and also announcing to other crows that they were having lunch with raman.

Raman whispered ' sorry kakka, the courts were closed for the weekend and that is why i could not be here. But you know this and yet you persist in complaining about it.maybe we should take our case to the chief justice and see what he has to say about it."

This was Raman,a quiet, solitary man who did not want much or need much and all he wanted was a simple and peaceful life. But life i guess had other plans for him as raman would soon find out and two rivers that ran in opposite directions would change courses and joining together as one would begin to run a brand new course.

Raman, you poor Raman don't you know love is like holding the tail of a tiger and there is no letting go.

Poor innocent raman don't you know that getting on the bus of love is a one way ticket to the blue for in the end " love is Heaven and hell" and " Fire and water" at the same time.

REDEMPTION 178- Questions and Answers

Thenmozhi now realizing where she was, relaxed her mind and gently threw her senses all around her and they reached out like many tendrils of a jelly fish wanting to touch, feel, probe and send back the signals to their owner about their environment and then they struck something and in quickly she pulled back her consciousness and her eyes turned towards the direction where her senses told her that something living and breathing was moving towards them.

Okay, the question is mouthed in your mind as to what i refer to or have been inferring to when i use those words "Azhagan and Thenmozhi threw his or her senses all around" and i will try to explain it in very simple terms.

Brain waves

Our brains have five frequencies , and each frequency is measured in cycles per second and has its own set of characteristics representing a specific level of brain activity and a unique state of consciousness?

Flashback to Redmption-131-132 and DR.OTTO HAUPTMAN and his meetings with Rudran

Dr.otto hauptman and rudran looked at each other and smiled as old friends do and specially ones who share a unique trust and bond that could never be broken or betrayed.

" Rudran, how are the headaches.what about those bouts of losing time that you had mentioned during our sessions back in Jerusalem."

" The headaches have stopped and so too the those brief memory losses although they do pop up once in a while. But then that too is a very rare thing and hardly worth talking about for they last for a few brief moments."

Dr.otto placed a thick folder that had been on his lap on the table that they both sat at and smiled which led rudran to ask him for the reason of his smile.

" I smiled because you never fail to disappoint me.When i placed the folder that i was carrying on the table in front of us,i can safely state that ten out of ten people's eyes would have strayed to it,even if it was for just a very brief moment and yet yours didn't.I wonder why that is."

Rudran leaned back and looked deeply into the doctor's eyes " Oh,oh,the good doctor is not here to play chess and share lunch with me but is on his own secret and private mission.Come now,out with it for you know you can ask me anything and about everything except topics regarding my nations security."

Then Rudran leaned forward " Hold the thought doc for i have an important call to make and once that is done we can talk without any interruptions.ok."

He called renu and once she answered it whispered softly " Renu, all well.I am sorry that i couldn't talk earlier for things are crazy here right now."

Dr.otto watched rudran listen and then whisper again " I am sorry to disappoint you.I know i told you i would be back in a few days but i think i might have to stay on a bit longer than that and only a after a couple of days i will be in a position to tell you with certainty when we will be together again."

" Sorry,i am really sorry but i have to go now. Please take care of your self and i will call you again later in the night.bye.I love you."

Dr.otto hauptman with a big smile on his face " you have met somebody and it is obvious that this person means a lot to you."

Rudran nodded " Yes,she means the world to me."

" Do you know how young you look now that you are in love for i just a saw a very different man than the one i first met and knew. But there is more for you look very different from the man i knew back in Israel.I don't know what it is but there is some kind of energetic aura around you, more than before and yet very different."

Rudran laughed loudly " Dr.otto, you and your mind games about energy, aura and different. Please,i am the same person that you know and as for me i don't feel any difference. Now just come out with what you really want to talk to me about."

Dr.otto opened the folder and after turning a few pages in it,looked up at rudran who could see the strange and confused look in the doctors face " what is it doctor? what are you looking at in that folder and why this confused look on your face?"

Dr.otto went back to turning the pages and then suddenly closing it looked again at rudran " Do you remember that MRI scan that you had done by me and my team when you came out of your coma?"

Rudran nodded yes and tilted his head a bit as if asking dr.otto to go on and the doctor did.

" Rudran, you were shot nearly eight times during that rescue mission of the UN peace keepers and with all that bullets in you, bleeding to death you single handedly shot and killed twenty of those terrorists and then waited until your back up team came and rescued you. Then you fell unconscious and slipped away into a deep coma and did not wake up for nearly three days. But what is really remarkable is that your wounds healed faster than it should have done and what is even more remarkable is that while you were in coma,a MRI scan was attempted,i repeat attempted to see if your brain was injured in any way but it did not work out."

Rudran leaned forward " wait just a minute doctor.what do you mean an MRI scan was attempted and that it failed.I remember that MRI scan very well and i remember very well you saying that there was nothing wrong with my brain and that i was perfectly okay."

DSr.otto, slightly worried ' sorry rudran,i meant the MRI scan that was done while you were in a coma and that was the scan that failed.I am sorry that i did not inform you of that failed attempt."

Suddenly the room felt a bit warm and as if electrically charged and rudran slightly tensed " dr.otto, what do you mean when you say that an earlier attempt of an MRI scan failed. Why? was there something wrong with the machine."

Doctor otto sadly shook his head " no,there was nothing wrong with the machine and it worked just fine.It just did not work on you."

" What do you mean it did not work on me? why wouldn't it work on me?"

Dr.otto " well,i have pondered over that very question and have concluded that you are the answer."

Both of them sat in silence as both their minds tried to make sense and come up with a probable answer that could make sense to both of them.

" Doctor, while that failed attempt of the MRI scan on me while i was in a coma, did you try scanning any other subject, just to make sure if the machine was working well."

Dr.Otto " Rudran, how many subjects would justify that doubt of yours?"

" One or two would be enough to see if the machine was working."

" Not one or two rudran but seven.I tested seven of my research team with that MRI scan machine and it worked perfectly well and yet it just didn't work on you."

Rudran with a smile on his lips " wow, doc. This is really weird and a bit creepy. But i am sorry for i have no explanation for this mysterious glitch of your machine. Is that all or is there more of this funny and creepy revelations."

Dr.Otto " That was nothing for this next bit of information beats that hands down.We talked about the MRI scan that was done while you were awake and i concluded that you were perfectly well. But do you remember anything from that day."

" Of course,i remember that day and every moment of that scan.I lay there, telling you i was perfectly fine and yet you subjected me to your tests.I also remember that you went into the cabin where the operator sat, came out and then went in again with a curious or rather surprised expression and finally came out with a very confused and tired look.I would have asked you what the problem was but i just wanted to get the heck out of there and didn't feel very comfortable in that claustrophobic machine. So,what does that scan got to do with this conversation."

" Everything Rudran, for though the machine worked well and we did scan your brain for any clots or trauma from the gun shots, the scan was a failure."

Rudran felt a tingle in his spine, heard a primitive whisper in his head and he became still and waited for dr.otto to continue.but the man was good at chess too and waited for rudran's question.

Rudran gave in " what do you mean by that scan was a failure too?"

Dr.Otto opened the folder and pushed it towards Rudran " see for yourself."

Rudran went through the folder and then came to the scans of his brain. His PHD background in Psychology and his PHD in criminal psychology immediately told him that the scans were faulty for where the scan must have ordinarily revealed the insides of a brain from all angles, there was just darkness,a black mist covering the brain of his and which could not be penetrated by the powerful MRI machine.

Fear, worry gripped his heart and it filled his eyes and Rudran hurriedly looked up at Dr.otto " i don't understand.these scans just don't make sense.I would understand if there was a large tumor obstructing,in which case the subject wouldn't be alive to speak of.But there is only darkness shrouding these images of my head. Why?"

Dr.otto shook his head " I don't know Rudran. The scanning machine that we have is one of the most advanced in the world.Researchers at our Hospital for Special Surgery developed a specially sequenced, contrast-enhanced MRI to identify potential problems so doctors can intervene early and prevent further damage to bones and joints of patients who have hip, knees and shoulder replacements and also patients who have metal screws in their bodies. This MRI greatly improves the visualization of bone and soft tissue when there is metal in a joint, such as the screws used to repair a hip fracture and so not even metal is invisible to it and yet the same machine could not scan your brain."

Rudran smiled and chewing on the salad looked at dr.otto " doc,i seriously have no reaction to what you have just revealed to me and if you really want to know my opinion, then i have two of them. One is that the MRI machine is faulty and the other is that i must have some kind of growth inside my skull which probably is what is causing all these problems. But then if it is a growth i wouldn't be sitting here, alive, well and talking sense to you for i should either be dead or hooked up to machines pumping chemo and dazzling my body with radiation. For now that is all i can tell you or react to your revelations.

But forget my thoughts on this weird scans and tell me what you think of all this.Maybe your opinions will make more sense since you are qualified and are a world renowned authority in the field of Neurosciences and the intricate workings of the human brain."

Dr.otto gently wiping his mouth with a napkin " Rudran,i personally have no clue for nothing makes sense. But what would definitely make sense would be if i could maybe look more intimately into your head."

" wait a minute, inside my head.you mean drill into my skull and see for yourself with your own eyes what lies beneath my thick skull.you are not joking are you.And all this because of some faulty scans. No way doctor."

Dr.otto shrugged "well it was just a thought and i admit a silly one at that. But rudy,i want you to promise me this, that if your headaches get worse and if you start to lose time or memory lapses you will get checked up and also immediately contact me.Please promise me that."

Rudran nodded " i promise you.If my headaches should get worse,i will fly over and hand myself to your care and expertise, for i know you and trust you."

Then getting up,he shook hands with dr.otto " i have to go for the boss and the rest of the team are probably waiting for me.What about you?"

Dr.otto " i should be getting back to my consulate and report on what is happening for my people need to know what is coming towards us and probably prepare for it in advance.God help us all for if this threat is as bad as it sounds, then we just could be looking at the extinction of humankind or in the least a complete breakdown of civilization as we know."

Rudran " no,it won't come to that. Not on my watch and not while i still have time to do something about it."

Pause-answers

Although i have touched here and there and not in great depth, you readers are perfectly aware that the blood that flows in Azhagan, thenmozhi,Buddha,Dhanashekara pandyan,Rudran are not of this world and alien in nature.I will write more or maybe even a long story about the arrival of Azhagan's ancestors on earth in another story or another series for there is so much to be told.Maybe ten, fifteen years from now,you can take delight and print all the stories and combine all of them into one omnibus title " Heaven and Hell".

But coming back to our subjects and their brains functions which cannot be compared to normal human beings and other lives on earth for the brain activity in our main characters exceed all known parameters. When one of them concentrates and throws his or her powers to see what is and that which lies hidden from the physical and normal senses, they generate brain waves that operate in a frequency that cannot be seen or felt and if it were to be measured, surely the machines would short circuit, overload and die out as poor DR.Otto found out when he tried to examine rudran.

In more simple terms, the brain waves act like Radar or sonar and come back with information to the sender of those incredible senses.

Now back to the story of Thenmozhi

She touched Buddha gently and then both she and the giant cat stood in anticipation as to who or what was going to come out from the mountain and they didn't have to wait for long.

In the gloomy darkness, both saw a form slowly descend the stairs and shuffle towards them and with the steps the form took, both of them knew that the person coming towards them was a very old being, older than the normal human beings.

The form reached them and it was an old man dressed in simple white clothes and his white beard nearly touched his feet and the hair on his head flowed like waves of milk, soft and silky like that of a baby's.

With the softest and kindest pair of eyes and yet those which saw everything and missed nothing, the old man stared at them " well, child you took your time. But now that you are here and that you have reached your destination,i guess it is my time to leave now."

Both Thenmozhi and Buddha gently bowed in respect and in greeting " I am but a child when it comes to the subject of knowledge of all that lies beyond the understanding of life and its intricate details. So,i beg you to forgive me and also request you to educate me a bit about where we are and why we are and who you are and who i am?"

" But child, you already know what this place is although the name given to this place is different from the one you are familiar with."

Thenmozhi " Wise one,i am sorry to disappoint you but i only know that places such as this exist because of my lord who is very far off now.I did not have the privilege of entering that place called " Sairandhrivanam " back in my homeland and i am surprised that i have been granted permission to step foot into such a sacred place".

The old man sighed and looked here and there and finding a small rock nearbye, slowly shuffled towards it and gently sat down " old bones, weary bones my child and i fear i don't have much time left.I hung on for all this time, waiting patiently for another one such as you to come and take my place and i hate to tell you this but it has been a pretty long time."

Thenmozhi's eyebrows danced as they first furrowed in thought and then raised themselves into a question and the old man smiled " long time.those words make you wonder as to how many years i have spent here guarding this place.well, don't let your eye balls pop out when i say that i have been here for nearly a 1000 years now."

Thenmozhi heard the old man say 1000 years and then shaking her head, stared at him and the old man stared up and down as if the answer could be found lying around mumbled " no,no,wait child,is it 1000 or 2000 " and then not totally sure if he was right about his age, looked at her " well, this young sun and its light will do that to our bodies whose cells are from a different light. And all this oxygen is too much to breathe although it is the very reason why our species survive for so long on this simple planet."

" Wise one,my lord Azhagan would have understood all that you just said for he was privy to such secrets and though he did try to talk to me about such stuff,my mind was drunk in the love that i had for him and did not pay too much heed to his wise words."

" Azhagan, yes child,Azhagan although we call him by a different name now for he is the new leader of our race and now watches over domains and realms that you see as stars in the sky."

Hearing the old man talk about Azhagan was too much for thenmozhi's already tired and fragile body and mind to bear and she slowly collapsed to the ground and drifted away into a deep sleep.

Hi people,

There are some important information and details that i could not post in the last chapter of Redemption for i kept getting blocked.

The information was a detailed overview as to how the brain functions and its many frequencies and how the brains of azhagan, rudran and thenmozhi function and at a much higher level and frequency.

But if you can go to this link, then you will learn a lot about how or brain operates on a daily and even momentary basis.

gathering shadows

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul
but they lie for the eyes lie and hide
all that is in its realm, good and bad, love and hate

windows bring the light of the sun in
but they cast long shadows even in day
i look at the darkness of my shadow
and it is just a trick of the light
a mimic,a copy and just a dead thing

shadows don't cry for they have no eyes
shadows don't love for they have no soul
and they never, ever show the holes torn by life
slashes that run deep and never heal

the windows bring in light, dust, noise and life
and just like them the eyes too bring in love
to a soul who has no clue as to what it is
or what to do with it

for love does not come alone and comes with its own
body that cast long shadows next to that of ours
just a black reflection of light and life
just a blank dark slate like that of a soul
who has no place in it for love or life
