CHAPTER 18
"Time takes it all whether you want it to or not, time takes it all. Time bares it away, and in the end there is only darkness. Sometimes we find others in that darkness, and sometimes we lose them there again." Stephen King
There are some places which you know for sure is evil and dangerous.Deep in your soul, deep where your primeval and most primitive senses dwell you feel the presence of a lingering evil.An evil act committed a long time ago and yet the soul screams for vengeance and thirsts for revenge. But in some, light prevails from the beginning and they have come to clear the darkness of others. They are candles that though dim still chase away the shadows that surround it.Some shadows want to come out for the good in them, the light in them tells them to fight the darkness and fight for their soul. But then again there are some who are lost forever and who wait in the grips of pure and utter evil. They lie in the darkness plotting, scheming and live only for destruction and chaos.Dont look to hell for the devil and his demons and dont look to heaven for god and his angels.Look inside you for you are god and you are the devil. You are a coin with two sides of the same entity and there are two sides to every story.
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so special
I wish I was special

CALM BEFORE THE STORM -2 DARKNESS
Everybody tip-toed around him in the gym and even the trainers left him alone. He had never raised his voice,he had never got into an argument with anyone and he went about his routine with his head down. One of the trainers who had been in the gym for nearly 25 years had mentioned that the man had joined ten or twelve year ago and he had been very skinny then. But the man who went about his training quietly was not the same.He was huge, massive and built like a mountain and one could easily mistake him for a contender in the world body building championship.
Arjun looked at his reflection and staring intently flexed his chest. The pectorals jumped up as if electrified and danced to his flexing.arjun had come in at 70 kilos and he now weighed 120 kilos.Even he knew that very few could recognise him now with his shaved head and goatee.
After lavanya's death arjun had retreated into himself and however hard they had tried even his parents could not reach him.But one day he had requested his dad that he wanted to get away from everything and so had gone to live in their villa near kelambakkam. It was a 4000 sqft house built on nearly five grounds.Arjuns parents agreed to his demands but on one condition that he allow their cook to come everyday and prepare food for him.Their cook manian had been with them for nearly 30 years and had practically raised arjun and lavanya on his lap and considered him more or less like his son.Cutoff from the outside world arjun lived his life and things that should not have been ignored or forgotten were erased and soon he had vanished from the public life. The anger and jealousy that had led him to murder his sister had now grown into something unrecognisable and was ready to be unleashed.
For arjun his only point of focus and the only thing that was in his sight was vengeance and the death of Dhanashekara pandiyan and his loved ones.
On this day Drona, their mentor and military expert, organized a competition to test their concentration. Across a stream, Drona set up a small wooden bird in a tree. Upon returning to the boys he told them, "Hello children. Today I want to see who among you can strike the eye of that wooden bird across the river."
The bird appeared tiny from where they were standing, but the boys were confident that they could pass their teacher's test. Had they not already felled great beasts on their hunts before? How could this small bird pose such a challenge? Anxiously, each one of the young princes waited for Drona to call their names.
Yudhisthira, the oldest among the Pandavas, was called upon first. Taking position by his teacher, he crouched slightly and drew his bowstring taut.
"Can you see the bird properly? Tell me everything you can see, Yudhisthira," said Drona.
Wanting to be thorough, Yudhisthira began to list off everything that met his eyes. "I see the wooden bird, the branch, and the tree. I can see the leaves moving and even more birds sitting on the same tree. I can see the stream, the grass, other trees, the sky..."
Like this, Yudhisthira named off everything he could think of. When he finished, he waited for his master's final command to shoot. Drona spoke again, "Put down your bow and take a seat Yudhisthira, you will not hit the eye of the bird."
Confused, Yudhisthira silently walked back to his brothers without question. The next boy was called forward and asked the same question by Drona. He gave a similar answer, naming everything he could see. Once again, the the boy was told to put away his bow.
This same pattern continued with every boy that followed, until finally Drona reached Arjuna. Drona suppressed a knowing smile as the young prince took his place, notched his bow, and drew his string. Arjuna was one of Drona's favorites.
"Tell me what you can see, Arjuna," repeated Drona.
"I can see only the eye of the bird," replied Arjuna without breaking eye contact with his target.
"Can you not see the trees and the sky? Or perhaps the branch the bird is sitting on?" his mentor asked.
"No sir, all I can see is the eye and nothing else," he said, holding his bow steady and maintaining his unwavering gaze.
Drona was pleased with this response. He cast a glance at the crowd of boys, who were held in silence but slowly began nodding as the lesson began to become clear to them. Drona was happy that one of his favorite pupils was able to pass his test. Now he only had to give the order.
"Shoot!"
With a loud twang, the arrow sprang from the bow straight into the bird's eye. A perfect shot. The bird fell with a small thud as all the boys looked on in amazement at Arjuna. After a long pause, Drona patted Arjuna on the back and said, "Now you see, young princes, the power of concentration..."
"Something amazing happens when the rest of the world is sleeping. I am glued to my chair. I forget that I ever wanted to do anything but write. The crowded city, the crowded apartment, and the crowded calendar suddenly seem spacious. Three or four hours pass in a moment; I have no idea what time it is, because I never check the clock. If I chose to listen, I could hear the swish of taxis bound for downtown bars or the soft saxophone riffs that drift from a neighbor's window, but nothing gets through. I am suspended in a sensory deprivation tank, and the very lack of sensation is delicious." Anne Fadiman, At Large and at Small: Familiar Essays
