Uruttu kattai is thick wooden stick similar to the ones used by gymnasts , though not that heavy. In Bombay [ sorry Mr. Raj Thackarey ..Mumbai], we have seen in our childhood days these type of sticks used by servants to wash clothes....they beat the clothes with that [ probably take out their anger on their boss]. Since it is of no use in these machine age , it has found a quiet place in our attic. Brought it down to give these two naughty girls two loving whacks.
