A MESSAGE FROM MUMBAI POLICE.

Be Alert

This has been sent originally by a member of the Mumbai police force.

Share with everybody you know, particularly your wife, sisters, daughters,
nieces, mother, female friends and colleagues.

At a petrol pump, a man came over and offered his services as a painter to a
lady filling petrol in her car and left his visiting card. She said nothing
but accepted his card out of sheer kindness and got into the car.

The man then got into a car driven by another person.

As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out

of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel

dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and
realized that the odour was on her hand; the same hand with which she had
received the card from the person at the service station.

She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed
to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began
to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady
still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she could finally catch her
breath.

Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously
injured her.

This drug is called 'BURUNDANGA' (Not known To People So Far but sufficient
Information Is available in the Net) and it is used by people who wish to
incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them.

This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is
transferable on a simple card or paper.. So please take heed and make sure
you don't accept cards when you are alone or from someone on the streets.

This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they
offer their services.

Hi roja

Marraige is a gamble, what the heck life itself is a gamble when the most important need called life has no guarantee.we come we go.I think a lot of marraiges and couples break up for the simple reason called Ego.From there that spring for everlasting misery flows divorces, breakups and such.but how many people take that step bravely.I have seen so many couples fight, hit each other and still go on,go on with what i absolutely have no clue.but my heart goes out to people who suffer domestic violence where they get beaten up by their spouses.in the lower strata of society or even lower middle class families lot of this stuff goes on.the woman's mother or even her mother-in-law will beg her to bear and go on with life blaming it on fate.

I have seen a few of these incidents in my own family and tried to help but to no avail.well some of my cousins have gone on for nearly ten to twenty years bearing the brunt of such incidents and when i asked them why all they said was do i have another alternative.when i mentioned separation or divorce they smile shrug and go on and have been going on.

You are right when you said a bad husband can be a good father.i wonder why he dosen't apply some of that love and affection to the mother of his child.

will continue,

Sathish, as you rightly said "EGO " - in all caps !! Yes, abuse in any form - physical or mental - is totally unacceptable. Again I have to harp on the Indian mentality - People think that marriage is the be all and end all in life. The social stigma attached to a failed marriage is monumental. I know of parents who ask their kids to "grit and bear" Pray, why?? There is no gender preference here - I know of men who suffer at the hands of their wives . I won't say that there are no bad marriages elsewhere . It is just the way we look at it . Well, we are all blessed with good marriages .
Thank God.

dear roja,

What is good and what is bad.Who decides which is better for one and bad for the other. In my own life experiences i have hurt a lot of people with my angry words and outbursts. But as time passes and i became older i realised that one cannot change the world but one can change himself or herself. When the thought hit me like a thunderbolt i started calming myself down and most importantly i stopped incidents and people getting to me.Most importantly i stopped judging people and learnt to accept people for what they are, good and bad and the whole lot.

In my marraige i went from the sullen, moody, angry boyfriend to slightly better husband.well my wife has to come forward with what she thinks of me as a husband.but the point i am getting to is that in all aspects of life if the change comes from inside and people realise the temporary state of life and what little time we have on this place called earth then things would be so much better.

As in marraige and love so it is daily life with friends and colleagues, workers etc.But life is tough and one might say,pal i have money problems, health problems so please don't preach about ego, morals and how to live.

Therein lies the secret for most of todays health problems like heart problems, diabetes, blood pressure are due to stress and tension.if our core i mean if our soul is strong and resolute in its aim of being calm in the face of storm lot of health issues can be avoided.even taking time before coming up with a retort to another person one tends to think in that little time whether a clash of words is important and if it can be avoided.so ego is subdued, the need to have the last word is brushed away and the other person whether it is our spouse, family member, friend or co-worker will also start to think and do the same.

scenes from films which moved me

In all my postings i have drawn from my own experiences and memories from my life.I was drawn towards films from a very early age for it held so much magic and even though i was innocent of what transpired in the films. In the beginning i was hooked onto Mgr and his fight scenes.mgr beating up goondas, fighting with one or two swords or riding a horse.i hero worshipped him and then came kamal and rajini.but as i grew older and in my teens there were some scenes which made me silly and i actually cried with tears rolling down my cheeks.

I want to start with the climax scene from moondram pirai in the railway station when kamal desperately tries to catch sri devi's attention but fails.as the train leaves he tries to follow and then slams into a lamp post and lies in the dirt crying.i cried with him and as the lights came on i looked around and saw that everyone in the movie hall were crying.pin drop silence.that was the effect kamal had in that scene on me and millions who watched that film.he deservedly won the national award for best actor that year.

second from the film sagara sangamam(salangai oli).there are about four to five scenes from that film but i will talk about those most important ones which have stayed with me and will stay with me as long as i continue to act for they are my dictionary and thesis papers.

there is a scene where jayapradha and kamal are sitting in a park and jayapradha shows him an invitation to delhi to watch a dance programme.kamal starts praising all the dancers and then as he is slowly turning the pages he comes to a page with his dancing photo and jayapradha leans over and tells him that the person in that page is also an excellent dancer.kamal from surprise,to shock and then slowly realisation starts crying and then laughing and kisses jaya pradha's hands.wow that scene moved me so much and even today i relive that scene again and again.

just after that kamal is preparing to go to delhi to participate in the national dance programme when he gets news that his mom is ill.rushing to her he realises that she is dying.torn between his desire for bharatnatyam and his love for his mother kamal starts dancing before his mother and she dies.kamal breaks down seeing her die and the whole movie hall broke down crying with him.

In the climax scene kamal is introduced as jayapradha's daughters guru and the people stand up and clap in admiration.kamal cries in gratitude for that and i cried in gratitude for having such an actor perform such intricate scenes showing such subtle emotions.

An actor prepares

What is acting and what goes on in an actor's mind when he is ready to face the camera.I with my limited experience have learnt one thing and that is the most important thing not only for an actor but anybody who gets ready to do a job,be it whatever it may be.And that is being there while the shot is being given.I have only worked in television serials and lots of ad assignments. Most of the roles i have done have required no major effort from my part. All that required is i look good and say my lines. And a few episodes into a serial i start losing interest if the director goes about his job in a mundane and cliched way.

But starting from anandham in 2004 i decided to get more involved and try out different things beginning with costumes and hence all these three fourth pants, skull cap and sleeveless t- shirts. The role of a fashion photographer was not very difficult to play for i had seen how ad people dress up and behave. But then muhurtham happened and i realised that dressing the part wil not do and that i had to become deepak from inside and so i started working on subtle body language and expressions.Soon i realised that less was more and the more restrained i was in my expressions the more dignified it came across to the audience. At this point you have to realise that the director and the lines an actor speaks makes a huge importance.Needless to say lot of times i tried to do better but was not generally noticed.

The many emotional scenes in muhurtham with my athai, dad, durga and sneha were like going to a classroom to study and in some of those scenes where i was required to cry i did okay i think.I realised that crying came naturally to me and that i did not need glycerine to bring tears to my eyes.I asked myself what was happening for i was suprised at my capacity to shed tears.Tears which i thought had dried up when i was young, tears which never came when i was growing up even under the most trying circumstances.Starting from my 5th year until my tv forays i think i must have cried maybe 4 or 5 times. But say action and those tears came tumbling down and i let it go and went with the flow.

How much ever an actor changes his looks, makeup, clothes, hair styles or character there is a bit of him in fact lots of him in all the roles he acts out.I will let you in a secret ,i think most actors are sad people whether they came to the field easily or whether they slogged to reach a certain position.

Even if an actor acts in a small role in a popular prime time serial he is recognised and people point, talk and smile when they see him or her.

I grew a lot as an actor in the just concluded serial maharani for thanks to my indulgent director who gave me a free hand with acting and expressions.Honestly speaking when i started acting in the serial even though i knew i was the hero i soon realised that if i didn't work hard at my scenes i would get swallowed by both the heroines sujitha and archana.I tried experimenting with my portrayal like when i was with sujitha(maha) i used to be gentle, shy and sometimes romantic and i used to mentally shrink myself and tried to come across as a soft spoken lecturer. But when it came to scenes with archana(rani) i deliberately tried to make myself aggressive from the way i walked, looked bordering on the body language of a villain.I think most of my scenes with rani came off well and i can actually remember most of the lines even from 2009.

For an actor,i am talking about those that take their art seriously should cultivate the art of reading, watching as many films as possible but most importantly having an healthy body and mind i really vital.

The typical tv actors in tamil television whether male or female are generally over-weight and unhealthy. The main reason is their dietary habits. On a typical shooting day morning breakfast will be idlis, dosas, pongal, puri and sometimes uppuma. And it never fails to amuse me when i see most of the unit hogging like they have never seen food before.then afternoon lunch will be sambhar sadham, curd rice along with whit rice, two poriyals ,rasam etc.then evening tiffin will be some sweet from hell and mixture.so total diet consists of oil, carbohydrates and very less nutrients.the thing is if all this is eaten in moderation and if exercis is done no problems. But after pack up most of the unit members will head to the nearest tasmac kadai and after 1,2,3 or even 5 rounds will go home to drunk to eat.this practice includes some of the leading actors also and a few actresses.no,i dare not name them.If i ask one of my co-artistes why he drinks so much, his reply will be "enna machaan panrathu, ore tension, tiredness, thookam illai.make what you will of that reply.

Slowly as i unwind i will write more about my life as an actor and good and bad incidents.

You have come a long way, Satish.

I remember seeing you as Deepak in "Muhurtham".

But I never thought the person who played the role of Deepak would be such a good writer, actor and a person too.

Your posts are a realistic insight into the life of an actor.

For any person in any job, they live both an outer adventure which coinicides with their inner journey too...and you have expressed it beautifully.

Looking forward to more posts!
