THE SHOEBOX
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little
Old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had
Cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but
One day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said
She would not recover.
In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took
Down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was
In the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls
And a stack of money totaling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents.
'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me
The secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that
If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two
Precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two
Times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with
Happiness.
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money?
Where did it come from?'
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'
on the banks of life
silent for ten months kicking and screaming
we rush out protesting from the womb of life
choice or destiny but safe in the arms of the mother
milk from her body, blood from her veins,
antibodies and immunity from her body
held safely in her arms of love mostly for some are abandoned
but the majority are brought up in love
for the from of motherhood and courage are not just human
i have seen a dog snarling and charging to protect its newborn
i have seen on discovery channel a lioness fight and lose its life
before seeing its cubs being torn apart by a pack of hyenas
now adult i sit on the bank of life and gaze at the yonder
for i see the banks of death on the other side of this river of life
birth and surely death are the most guaranteed
and since one is alive to read it death is the only thing guaranteed
come now and walk the banks of life and feel love, protection, betrayal and sorrow
then comes greed,anger,jealousy and treachery
as you swim, glide and run across the river of life
we see, feel and touch and in turn touched by love and loss
but everything is silent once we reach the other bank
for on that bank all fall away and only peace and silence fill your soul
and lest we forget He awaits.
so love, lose but live and give love for nothing can be carried
except when we close our eyes we should close it
saying i lived, loved, felt love and gave it in return in abundance
a kind word,a shoulder to lean on but most of all just being there
for those that need us.

3 minutes:
A middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.
4 minutes:
The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and without stopping, continued to walk.
6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.
45 minutes:
The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money, but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.
1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
Findings:
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater performance in Boston where the seats averaged $100..
This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the Metro Station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and people's priorities. The questions raised: "In a common place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?"
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made......................
How many other things are we missing?
Think about it!
Well,i thought about it................But thatz life and the situations brought forth by our lives. So long as we can appreciate it even for a second,i believe its worth it!!!!
