Eljay amma what eclat told is true.
The leaves give a very nice smell plus the green colour.
If you cannot find the leaves, just use green colour.
Its very simple to make. Thanks. Malligai.

Sundal with a twist:

This sundal of mine is a big hit here, so I thought I would share the recipe with all of you.

Ingredients:
Black kadalai - soaked overnight and cooked till just soft when squeezed
Carrots - 2 or 3
Green apple - 1 or 2
Pomegranate - 1
Raw mango - 1
Salt
Lemon juice
grated coconut - 1/2 cup or more, according to taste
Asafoetida - to taste

Ingredients for tempering:
Mustard
Urad dal
Green chilies
Curry leaves

Method:
1. Heat oil, add mustard seeds. When they pop, add the urad dal. When the dal turns reddish, add the green chilies, curry leaves, cooked black kadalai, salt and hing, and let it all cook together for a few minutes.

2. Add grated carrots, finely chopped mango, finely chopped apple, pomegranate seeds, coconut, and remove from fire.

3. Add lemon juice to taste and garnish with coriander leaves.
