The entire Karthik/Gautham scene, here's my take.

Karthik should have left there after he knew Gautham wanted to talk to Susan. But at the same time, though he stayed his reaction was normal and showed a good thing in a way. Gautham was crossing the limits with Susan and he was bothering her, Karthik would never be silent and watch someone insult someone else like this, even if it was someone else he would acted the same way and be defendant.

But this entire scene was a deja vu for me but before it was Kaushik and now Gautham. The scene with Kaushik wasn't carried out and Kaushik was not shown, wonder if Gautham will plan some revenge here?? Gautham is the one who first pushed Karthik and then only Karthik reacted...let's see what happens.
