"Is everything all right?" Mom peeped in my room and asked, worried. We nodded our head in a yes and she smiled.

"Let Aman rest Kabir, usse itni der tak jaagna nahi chahiye..."

"Mumma, stop treating me like a kid..." Di cringed.

"You are going to give birth to one..." I said and showed her my tongue.

"Shona, jaldi so jaana..." Mom said and walked out. Di had come here, to Jaipur, after three years of her marriage with Umesh Jiju and was two month-pregnant. We all took care of her, and I know she had to sleep early, but I had to share this with her. I looked at her, and she nodded. I smiled.

" I never really had the courage to speak to her. When she would come to me, my heart would beat faster like anything."

"She came to speak to you?" Di asked in shock.

"No, she would come to speak to Kirti, when we were together."

"Oh ok..." Di said and smiled sheepishly.

"then I named it as a "Crush" and started with small talks. You can't imagine Di, she would be so shocked when I would call out to her. Ek baar, mujhe Plank's constant yaad nahi aa raha tha, and she was sitting infront of me. I called out to her and she turned, her eyes wide open and mouth almost open. She somehow hid her emotions and answered my question. She looked cute then..."

Di smiled.

"that day, I had almost got a mini heart attack. Jwala was talking about her boyfriend and asked about some Ritesh. I can't tell you Di, I felt so scared, but thankfully, Nisha brushed it off.

"Tumne aisa kyun kaha ki she is maha chalu?" di asked in confusion.

"Kyunki she knows all tricks to manaofy someone. Uss din, Dolly had to go with her boyfriend somewhere and Nisha easily convinced Dolly's mom to let her join her for a movie. Itna locha karti hai naa woh ladki..." I smiled thinking about her craziness.

"Earth calling Kabir" DI said, snapping her fingers infront of my eyes. I came out of my trance and she giggled.

"Finally, when she didn't turn up for a week, just before the exam, I realized my feelings, I realized that it wasn't just a mere Crush, I was really serious about her and I decided to ask her. I had known her that much, to know that she wouldn't accept me in her life... Everyone in her gang had a boyfriend, or you can say, a crush on someone, but she was different. They did give me mini heart attacks when they paired her with her friend's brother, but when she told them clearly, that she wasn't interested in him, I decided to give it a shot."

"She had returned to school after a week, her forehead bandaged. "Just an accident" she had said to Kirti. I looked at her, as she was busy jotting down the revision. "Yes, you can do it Kabir" my heart said to me. Now, the only thing I was waiting for was the interval.

"Kirti, woh teri friend hai na...kya naam hai uska...Nisha...haan Nisha...usse Laxmi Mam ne Biology Lab mein bulaya hai, with her journal..." I said to her, as soon as the bell rang indicating that it was the interval.

"But usse kyun? Maybe because she didn't attend the last practicals...I'll tell her..."

I shrugged my shoulders and walked out of the class and rushed down to Biology Lab, which was on the mostly deserted 3rd floor. The teachers were gone for a meeting, thankfully and there was no soul present there.

I nervously ran my fingers through my hair, when I heard her wince in pain. I turned to look at her, who was climbing the steps, one hand massaging her head. She looked at me, and turned to the Biology Lab, but looked at the closed door in surprise.

She murmured to herself and walked down a few stairs when I called out to her.

"Nisha?"

She looked up at me, her hazel brown eyes making me more nervous.

"Can we talk?"

I could see hesitance as she walked up. She smiled awkwardly at me. A cold silence surrounded us.

"Tum kuch..?"

"Haan, woh main actually...I wanted to ask you..."

She looked at me for a few seconds as I mumbled.

"Kabir, I need to meet Dolly urgently, so I'll talk to you later..." She said in hurry and turned to leave. Something happened to me, and I held her hand. She turned to look at me.

"Sorry..." I said and left her hand.

"Nisha, um...can we, I mean...I really like you... we, we can be good together...you know, as a..."

"Couple..."she completed for me, her voice showing no emotions. I nodded in a yes.

"Sorry Kabir, lekin iss waqt mera focus sirf mera carrier hai...I don't want to hurt you, but it would be better if we just remain friends...or more precisely, classmates..." She said and looked at the floor.

My heart sank. I cursed myself for proposing her. A tiny voice in my head asked me to try again.

"Nisha, Give me a chance"

"Sorry Kabir, but I can't you with you...or for that matter, mujhe yeh pyaar-vyaar ki zhanzat meri life mein nahi chahiye...Sorry... I know you are a nice guy, and you deserve better...better than me..."

"Nisha..." I called out to her, but she was long gone. That day, she chose to ignore the boys' section of our class, only to avoid me. Mera mood bhi kuch khaas nahi tha... while leaving the school, when I was watching the boys play basketball, Dolly came to me.

"You proposed Nisha?" She asked.

I nodded in a yes.

"Why Kabir? You shouldn't have done that... You..."

She sighed and looked at me,

"Just because uske baaki doston ke boyfriends hai, doesn't mean even she is ready to have one..."

"I know Dolly, but I thought..."

"Please Kabir, Nisha ko bhool jaao...It will be better for you... I don't want you two to be hurt...All the best Kabir..."

She walked off and I couldn't understand what she meant.
