"Lunch!" Viraj declared, stepping out from behind the curtains with a tray in hand.
Nisha shrieked. Curtains... Finally he had found her alone. She was slightly out of breath but she was adamant that she wouldn't let him scare her.
"Nisha?" Viraj looked at her quizzically. He stepped up to help her seat herself at the dining table. All her resolve broke down. "Nooo!" She screamed her lungs out. Viraj was shocked to say the least. "Nisha please calm down. You're safe." He said in the most soothing voice possible.
"LET ME BE!" She howled, rubbing her chest and trying to catch her breath. She was constantly moving away.
"Nisha I'd never..." Viraj was positively worried now. He took another step ahead, holding up his hands.
"Aaargh! Aaa- Aaaraaagh!" Nisha pulled at her hair, oblivious now, to Viraj and his intentions.
Laughter echoed in her ears as the boys tossed around her blindfolded self. Someone pinned her down. Another ran a finger down her cheek, even as she squirmed and thrashed on the floor.

"Bachcha I'm here. You're ok. Calm down." Lakshmi rubbed her back, trying to bring her back to her senses.
Ramesh called the police even as Viraj was being thrashed by Suketu. Strange that Suketu should be able to sustain this long in a fight with Viraj. Ramesh searched Viraj's eyes. He found nothing.
Ramesh looked at Nisha for any confirmation of the happenings.
All he saw was a blank.

"He owned the house. He had every right to be there." The defense lawyer argued.
Viraj's eyes were fixed on Nisha.
She had her eyes lowered. He wouldn't... Or would he? He was definitely a threat. Stalking her, wasn't he? Momentarily, she glanced at Viraj.
The accusation in her eyes was unmistakable. Viraj had his verdict.
"I plead guilty."

As Viraj was being taken away, Nisha stopped him. "Would you?" She asked, restless with that question.
"You're safe now." He replied.
Ramesh was the only one who understood.

Luckily, Viraj had a jail-cell to himself. As the key turned in it's lock, he felt peace.
No one to hurt him.
No one he could hurt.
No expectations to live up to.
No one to let him down.

Viraj slept well that night. He was tired.
