I think

Nisha maybe was sexually abused or atleast attempt was made in her childhood when she was in female clothes

That's why she abhors female clothes and all things female

And tries to be like boys

But who would do that to her? Though her uncles aren't in good terms with her but they belong to a sanskari family..stooping that low is beyond their limits. Hence I think its something else. May be she was discriminated as a girl during her childhood or perhaps she is just trying to be her dad's support by being rough and tough.

1. TM 's theory can be possible. Why uncle alone ? Any one could have done that . Even in school and neighbourhood kids are not safe.

2.Second theory : I think since childhood Kirti was acknowledged as the most beautiful one of out the two cousins. People don't understand that it might hurt another child of same age. Accordingly, she gave up the idea of being a woman. She is boyish and therefore she wants to make others believe that she is not competing with Kirti

3. Third theory: May be she is sad because of the fact that no body respects her father. The treatment that is meted to her father makes her rebellious to everything around her. So, if the genral rule is to be woman than she chooses to go the other way round. In other words, she is proving herself to be a son to her father and regain hi lost prestige. I remember she was indeed sad when Jwala mentioned that each of these sisters shall be married one by one. I dont think any girl will be sad to know that she will get married some day. I think she wants to stay back to help her father.

4.Fourth theory: She wears these because Dadaji disapproves such clothes.
