Hi,My dear Forum members...😊
Before I become completely unknown name to this place I want to share something with you all which I have been thinking for a very long time now...it is about some real people who have taken up traditional values and modernism together ,so beautifully that they have become an inspiration for many of our generation people 👏( I am giving two examples from Tamil Nadu but would be delighted if you can share something from your region too😳)

1.Vellukudi Krishnan

People's taste may vary when it comes to small screen entertainment in the evening, with soaps and cinema topping the list. But mornings, 6-7, are generally dominated by one voice. Gruff and soothing at once, the Tamil is both chaste and familiar. The style is lucid, diction clear and the content rich. All of these makes the audience, drawing room or public halls, listen to Velukkudi Krishnan in rapt attention. 😊Krishnan went on to complete C.A. and ICWA courses before joining the top rung of an MNC. Never did he venture to make solo presentations during his father's life time who himself was a great vidwaan👏
Long hauls on business meetings outside Chennai were coming in the way of his nitya karma. Rushing to the Upanyas stage from corporate meetings well after dusk added to the stress and the decision had to be taken. "I quit lucrative job to dedicate myself to Upanyas and related activities."😳he says..👏

2.Vishaka Hari

Ah...I can talk pages after pages about this young woman because I look upto her and her katha's like anything...😳
She weaves seamlessly into her story as she describes Hanuman beholding Sita for the first time in the Ashoka Vana of Lanka. Her rasikas in that vast audience must have had the same picture as they listened in rapt silence. The spell is cast.

Meet this 29-year-old Gen X chartered accountant - with ranks and distinctions tucked under her belt (yes...she is All India No.3 rank holder)👏in commerce and direct taxes.

Vishaka has elevated the art of harikatha, which used to be a mere religious discourse infused with music. Born into a family of music lovers, tutored by great gurus and married into a family of harikatha exponents,
Vishaka took up the art of harikatha from her famous Father- in- law Krishna Premi
..Today she is more famous than her FIL and Husband put together😳
So, with that guiding philosophy, our young ambassador has carried her art to several countries as far removed as Dubai and Singapore, England and Canada. She has performed in the temples of America and the cultural centres of London. Her passionate approach to her subject is the same everywhere.
You can search for these two names in Youtube to see their versatality..

I wish our serial also shows such motivational things...😕

This is one amazing post...😊...and being from Tamilnadu, i could easily identify with the two people you have chosen to highlight in your post...Vellukudi Krishnan is a total hit with my mom...she is hooked to his katha kalakshepams...
As for Vishaka Hari...need i say? That this traditional sari-clad ( read madisaar) harikatha performer, is a CA, came as a shock to me...I was lucky enough to witness one of her performances in the 2010 December music season...she just left me spell bound with her rendition of Saint Thiyagaraja's story...CA and Kathakalakshepam ( a kind of story telling, following a 'musical' format) are diametrically different...her mastery over these two facets of her life, shows how well she embraces the modern world, with a traditional layering to her life...
once again...brilliant post...brilliant examples providing a perfect foil to the concept of 'Navya'...👍🏼
P.S: Are you from Tamilnadu, Nish??

Hello Nish,
glad to have u back. Hope u had a refreshing break, from the adda and also from navya. Now ready to watch it with a fresh outlook????? Jk...

Nish, the 2 personalities, actually dont ring a bell for me, as me not from TN. But the contents of the post, does ring a bell. I understand that education if utilized rightly is the most precious ornament one possess. And thats what I like about the people of tamil nadu, education is a priority and so well learned is each and every member of the family. You know Nish, at times when travelling to Chennai from bangalore, I have met people in mundu ( forgive me for the spelling), and with that yellow color cloth bag, and when they open their mouth, they are no less than Doctrates or post- graduates. Thats what I like, because education is rampant and well recognized.

Now for the other aspect. Till date I dont understand why hindi is considered as a taboo, and people hate to talk in hindi. Second point, in a land with such learned people, why do they worship the film actors and have temples in their name?

Sorry for the nonsensical post, and not related to the topic. But this is something which I always wanted to ask.

@Asha..
loved both your questions..and I guess even i had felt sometihng similar for a long time..why dont we talk in Hindi more often..it is such a rich langauge and has such great literary work, but it is not appreciated because of the much appreciated corporate lingo ..English...
Praying actors and building Temples under their name is really out of my understanding..we have veda's, upanishads, bhagvadgita..to learn and pratice, but here most if us are busy praising te actors and tryign to imitate them in as many ways as we can...that is really disturbing..we are losing our long lived heritage slowly it seems..
P.S. sorry if my post hurt anyone..it is just my POV, and please od not take it personal in amy means...
