Yes. Online popularity means nothing...ratings wise. Fully agree on that.

In the real world...in a country of 1.25 billion people, with a diverse viewership and relatively less levels of Internet penetration...online popularity is not really indicative of what the layman really thinks. The average Indian would not even be knowing the real names of Monaya or Divek from their TV shows..many would be knowing their real names only after Nach i guess😛 they must be referring to divyanka as Ishima or Sanaya as that chulbuli khushi bitiya or something 😆

But don't you think your post equally applies to Divyanka with her 4 million followers on Insta...😃 and i do think that even if they don't contribute to ratings, online and international fans do add to popularity or recognition. For instance Sanaya must be popular for IPK which had a massive reach in countries like Turkey and many others and even Divyanka must have garnered a lot of recognition for YHM.

Even if not now...when Internet coverage is on the rise, more and more people will latch on to the bandwagon. This is just the beginning. A slow start...but a steady one. As more and more Indians get access to the net...and wish to articulate what they feel and get onto social networking sites...online will gain more prominence.

I do think that these stars with their capacity to gain a hold on the imagination of folks spread all over the world embody a form of soft power. For instance...i watched a lot of Turkish shows recently and was taken in by the acting prowess of some actors...it also introduced me to a hitherto unknown country and its culture..of which its actors were its cultural ambassadors, in a way.

So yes...i acknowledge that ratings wise it doesnt mean much...but i wouldn't write them off entirely as well.

I just looked back...itna lamba essay! Sorry to all😳😆

Very very well said.Online and international popularity cannot be ignored even if doesn't bring any trps to a bogus and out dated trp system anyway..With the rising use of social/electronic media how can these points be ignored.

V dude i am not taking anything personally. In fact i find it no less than a joke when some one tells me i am being personal or taking things personal on this forum.Like seriously? 😆

i am calling it senseless because you are denying the connection of online popularity to real world. The word real is already questionable besides the fact that we have headed and are heading to a digital age.Instead of questioning the online popularity, the basis on which popularity is measured in offline world should be questioned.Because i always see you talking about trps being the measure of success of shows.(Now please don't ask me for proofs because i am to lazy to go hunt for old posts :P)

Well

Spots and ads are brought based on trp

So offline popularity and trp matters

Lol

It is all perceptional

When you go out of your way to defend someone it indeed gets personal

Wishing to see some criticizing posts that actually make sense.

So by your logic,
1. All the online audiences are outside india...and i thought even indians had social media accounts...It seems they dont...My bad
2.Either only aunties watch serials in India or all in India are aunties for you...Then why the hell they are producing the so- called drama-less classic novel like serials for Indian aunties...They should rely directly as web series (mainly the likes of chanchan) because indian aunties are unable to enjoy it due to lack of taste/sense
3.Also, finally i dont understand one simple thing. Arrey yaar you(THE JODI) are a world superstar, y the hell are you participating in a contest which is going to be voted by trp aunties...

Aapke aaukat to US president banane ka, par aap tho panchayat election me kade ho yaar...

Well.Something is not common as they say.

Regarding your conclusion of " All the online audiences are outside india" ,I didn't mean that,i only meant as in India the TRP system is highly influenced by such an audience that is more interested in rona dhona and kitchen politics(i highly doubt they use social media) ,it doesn't look like a very considerable amount is watching something else than all this.Or may be younger generation of the country is also a fan of kitchen politics and 25 rebirths and snakes and magic then i apologize for blaming aunties only. And if it is not the case then there must be some problem with the trps system as it shows the taste of audiences.

I don't know where did i call any couple world super star and i don't think any couple who isn't a fan of high voltage drama in reality shows has still got any other choice than participating when they want to participate.

Now if performances are good

Ppl will like Jodis

So I don't think what you are saying is right

You can't label ppl watching on tv as not real since they are not supporting your favourite

Are we talking the same language? I don't understand what made u reply me this when I asked something totally different 😕

And btw for en example both me and Aini (OnePoundChick) r neither Indian nor live in India. Out of the AT we have here; about 80-85 people out of the 100+ there r either of the above types and we all r very much real people. Anyone who has ever bothered to stalk that would know how much we rant over this fact!
Cz Let alone contribute to a lame TRP system we don't care two hoots about we can't even vote! Cz seems SP thinks we r fiction too along with the ones who thinks the same :((

I was just saying that if ppl watching on TV liked Sanaya performance they would vote for her so the fact that since most of hers fans are outside India does not hold ground for her low votes last time so it means ppl did not like their performance
