In comparison to this machine, brain scans are far more accurate and show more vivid proof of where the person is lying.

Your friend might know a trick to pass LDT but the contestant on NB took the test for the first time. The question of reliability of machine become issue if someone had tricked LDT but it was fair test for everyone. So i dont see a reason to doubt a machine

I disagree with you completely. Polygraph test is used for screening new employee, hiring police department personnel and law enforcement agency people apart from finding truth during criminal investigation. If we start questioning one machine result is fake or unreliable then probably we have dump all the machines that we use in real life. Sensors that is used in polygraph test are also used by doctor, so does it mean all the doctor are cheating when they give medicine based on those result ? Why would anyone intentionally trick a machine when it will not help them in their final result.

Before a machine is build, they do 1000's of experiment to check it consistency and accuracy which is mentioned in the specification sheet and if it goes off then its recalibrated.

Even if its the most unreliable source of machine like you said, it is used by all the police department. I am sure police department don't use it for their own fun.

Just because some of the contestant on NB didnt the pass polygraph test doesnt mean such machines are fake or unreliable.

Also, another thing. For the love of god I've studied, and played around with these machines. It was part of our class. We have one for student purposes at Uni. By now I can make my lies show up at truths with the amount of practice I've had with it. Also the same or similar seasons are used in a lot things, they don't all serve the same purpose. Accuracy is never definite I know so many psychologists, and others who may not even be psychologist just have a good grasp of the technique who will be able to trick that machine into getting the results they need. Many subjects have shown to be able to conceal stress when they know they are lying. There is no way to tell the difference between the stress caused by the test and the stress generated by the lie. Another fact remains if you convince yourself the truth isn't the truth there's no way in hell that machine will catch it. In fact this has never had much creditability. If you still believe otherwise it's okay I'm not here to change your mind I was just giving you my opinion, but please don't go around calling people blind fans if you are also going to display the same behaviour.

Are you from the USA? Because if they really did a lot of this. Half of the people in office wouldn't be in office let alone the police department.

It is not hard to trick the machine, you just need to control your breathing and think of a time when you weren't lying or wouldn't be lying about. Anyway even without the tricking, the machine isn't very reliable. And I also was born and brought up in the U.S. so it is not that I don't know about the systems here. Anyway, despite being used widely, it is now being found to be a very faulty means of determining lies.

With practice its possible to achieve anything but here we are talking about contestant who had no experience of polygraph machine and the validity of their result. ]

Do you think polygraph machine are 100% inaccurate , and if so then most manufacturer would have gone bankrupt? Why would anyone buy such defective unit ? Did your Uni buy polygraph machine to prove it doesnt work ?

For some reason that doesn't sound right, I myself had lived in Cali for 3 years during middle school. Maybe it's just your state.

I agree with you and also as per law in USA even if for a criminal investigation they do want to take a polygraph test they person concerned can totally refuse to take it. As per law no one can be forced to take a polygraph test in USA.
