@TM,
To be honest, I was wondering when there would be a video about Gurmeet, because there was a video on Ripu-Shivangi (especially Shivangi), Vinod (where his parents talked about his handicap and his struggle with it), Raqesh-Riddhi (where it talked about their love story) and even Rithvik-Asha. In fact, in the first episode there was a video after everyone couple's introduction except for Gurmeet and Debina, so if we are enjoying a video on them where his parents got to give him some encouragement, what's wrong with it? Last week, Rithvik also talked about his struggle and how he came from a poor family, but it's wrong if Gurmeet does so? What's with the double standard?
Personally, I enjoyed hearing about the struggles and life history of every couple on this show. It helped me get to know them all better in a much more personal life, but I find it unfair how Gurmeet and Debina are the only couple being targeted for having a video, when every other fan group enjoys have special mentions and videos on their respective couple.
Hasn't Gurmeet already told everybody how much he struggled when he came to Mumbai and how Debina helped him during his struggling days? Then what was the need to bring in his background again and that too in the semi-finals week when the results are near and the voting would be heavy?
What irked me is the lies that the channel likes to show. Gurmeet is a bihari but was not born in a village in Bihar. He was born in Chandigarh. Sajid repeatedly called him a punjabi which he did not bother to correct and say he was a bihari and not a punjabi though he has a punjabi name because of his place of birth. He did not spend his childhood in that village (maybe he went there for holidays) because his father was in the army and he has lived in various cities (including Chennai), depending on his father's posting. He studied in an army school. So making him out to be someone from a poor village family is not right. If anything, I think Vinod comes from a truly humble background. Yet his economic background as well as his handicap is underplayed and the 'talent' of this pair is over played.
By the way, at this stage I think they should focus on the dancing and not the personal lives of the participants.
If anything all this unwanted attention on Gurbina are not doing them any good. I used to like Gurmeet and his nature. He always came across as a humble person but all this is really putting me off.
I hope a more deserving couple,either in terms of talent or in terms of wants, wins the show and this particular pair for me do not deserve it in both the respects.
