Ever since the results of Nach Baliye 2 have been announced, the winners, Tina and Hussain Kuwajerwala have been inundated by calls from all over. The phones haven't stopped ringing and the cameras haven't stopped flashing. And rightly so! After three months of literally toiling their backs off for hours at an end, victory tastes much sweeter. While it was already assumed by many folks that the handsome, young actor and his lovable wife would win the finals against much weaker opponents Yash and Gauri Tonk, the triumph is yet to sink in.
"I still can't believe we've won!" says a tired yet ecstatic Tina. "It feels so great to have won because I never thought we actually would. We found it rather difficult to cope up in the beginning and the first few rounds were quite tough. But this was the best anniversary gift I could have got," she says. According to Hussain, "Tina really surprised me with her perseverance and dancing skills. I'm so glad that she genuinely tried this because she's never danced in her life. The triumph hasn't sunk in yet."
"Actually the only place I used to dance was when I used to go to nightclubs or pubs with Hussain!" quips Tina in quickly. A fashion designer by profession, Tina's orders have taken a backseat since the past three months owing to punishing dance rehearsals and shoots. But not that she really minds.
"The experience on the show has been phenomenal; we've made so many new friends, performed in innovative ways that I never thought was possible and are taking back with us memories that will last us both a lifetime," says Hussain. "Since this was the very first time that I faced the camera, I used to be very pampered by everyone. Dancing on a platform as big as this wasn't easy but with so much pampering from everyone I managed to give it my best shot. Since I was new, I had enough time to dedicate to my rehearsals and practice sessions. It was Hussain who had to come rushing after a long day of shooting," says Tina.
Talking about the most memorable moment on the show, Hussain says, "There was a blindfold act where both of us had to first part and then meet at a certain point on the stage- doing all this blindfolded. While we were shooting, I somehow got the feeling that Tina was not where she was supposed to be and I just yelled her name out loud not caring about the cameras. Surprisingly she sensed where I was and when we met, the sense of relief that came over both of us is something that I'll never be able to describe."
Although the two haven't yet planned what to do with the Rs 20 lakh that they've won, Tina is hoping for a long, luxurious holiday with her husband. "Right now we have to sort out Hussain's schedules after which we'll definitely go on a much deserved holiday." And the question that's probably on everyone's lips…Is she planning on joining the television industry? "Only if something nice in English comes my way. My Hindi is quite terrible, so I don't see myself going down that lane at all," says Tina with a laugh.
"We're going to miss everything about the show — our choreographers, the judges, our fellow contestants, the shooting- everything. They became like family to us in these last three months and neither of us has ever put in so much effort in anything before," says Hussain with a tired grin.
