Aamir and Sanjeeda back on NB

Looks like it's not without a reason they are called the people's favourite jodi! Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh are back again on Nach Baliye 4, not as anchors this time but to perform on a dance number in the show.

Needless to say, when this couple put on their dancing shoes, the stage is bound to be on fire! The winners of the previous season performed on Dil Hara Re from Tashan and once again had the crowd grooving mad to their moves.
Infact this impressive performance happened to be as good as their final performance from last year with audiences cheering much after the dance was over with. And surely the alleged issues with the channel also seems to have taken a back seat with their return in this episode that is to be aired on Saturday.

"Yes, we did perform on Nach Baliye on Monday. There are no issues between the channel and us. As I said earlier, Nach is special to me and I will always be more than happy to be associated with it." Says Aamir Ali.

Currently on the work front, Aamir seems to be taking a well deserved break while beau Sanjeeda is back with the previous show.

"I am taking it slow and enjoying the break from work. But Sanjeeda has returned with Kayaamath once again. Infact she is already shooting and the first episode is going to be telecast soon too."

Reshmii Ghosh faints on NB set

Reshmii Ghosh and her beau Amit Gupta who are a part of Nach Baliye were in the danger zone this week. And it looks like Reshmii could not handle this pressure for the second time and fainted on the stage.
"I get into panic quickly. We were under pressure for our performance and then when our name was announced as one of the couples who will be in danger zone…due to pressure I fainted on the sets. I get these panic attacks when I am under tremendous tension. But thank God Amit was there with me and he knows how to handle the situation so he managed it all."

"They did call for a doctor and they took me in an ambulance but I was normal after half an hour. When I was thinking about it later on I was like it was so embarrassing. I keep on fainting when I am tensed," she adds.

But the actress didn't allow her fainting spell stop her from performing. "Later on I came and performed also. In fact in our performance Farah told me if you are performing well after fainting then I think you should faint every time before your performance," laughs Reshmii.

With Reshmii and Amit, Yash and Gauri Tonk are also in the danger zone this week.

Megha performs as Karishma!

While Sudeep and Anantika rocked as Bollywood's latest superhit jodi, Akshay Kumar and Katrina, Kapil and Anjali performed as Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha and Shaleen, Daljit tickled our funny bone as Mehmood and Mumtaz, the jodis that dared are definitely Yash and Gouri and Naman and Megha.

Yash and Gouri brought to the NB4 stage the sizzling chemistry between Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. What's more, they performed on Farah Khan's song 'Hai Hai Re...' from Kuch Kuch Hota Hain.

But it was Naman and Megha's performance which was the most eagerly awaited performance of the night as they were performing to a Govinda and Karisma song in front of Karisma herself!

Felled by low TRPs

Curtains to down on Nach Baliye 4 fourteen days before schedule

Arjun Rampal, Karisma Kapur and Farah Khan

From judges abruptly leaving the episode to constant fights amongst contestants - Nach Baliye has seen it all. To add to the list, the latest reports state that Nach Baliye 4 will draw to a close two weeks in advance.

Kapil Nirmal and Anjali Abrol

Our source from the sets of the show said, "The channel (Star Plus) and the production house have decided to drop the wild card entry this year. They want to wind up the show as soon as possible. It could be because of low TRPs. The grand finale slated for February 15 will now be on February 1. The precursor to the finale, a Maha Muqabala will be telecast on January 23. From the four couples, two will be selected for the grand finale."

A jodi from the show said, "The initial contract clearly stated that there would be a wild card entry, two to three surprise entries and some more twists. But now our Nach Baliye 4 journey will end sooner than scheduled."

However Anupama Mandloi, Head of Content, Star Plus had a different take on this issue. She said, "We had planned for the show to end in January but the strike threw everything out of gear and the judges dates were not available beyond January."

However she did not explain why the show which was supposed to run for 15 weeks will wind up in 13 weeks.

The five couples currently participating in the show are Yash - Gauri Tonk, Kapil Nirmal - Anjali Abrol, Shaleen Bhanot - Daljeet Kaur, Sudeep - Avantika Sahir and Naman Shroff - Megha Gupta.

Happy Birthday, Mummy Farah!

Farah started out as an assistant director on Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar but had to fill in the very busy Saroj Khan's shoes one day to choreograph Pehla Nasha. The song had a very relaxed and natural feel to it and focused only on the actors in the song, which was a whiff of fresh air in those days of loud set pieces with back up dancers and jhatkas and matkas.

She has choreographed 73 films so far. Memorable ones include: Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge, Dil Chahta Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, 1942 A Love Story, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal hai, Phir Bhi Dil hai Hindustani, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Monsoon Wedding, Don, Jaan-e-Mann, Om Shanti Om, Desi Girl from Dostana, the item songs from Billu Barber, Kaal, Shakti and all the songs in Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.
Farah was also nominated for a Tony Award for her work on Andrew Lloyd Webbers's musical Bombay Dreams. She also choreographed belly dancer Shakira for a Bollywood version of Hips Don't Lie for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. Farah has won five Filmfare awards and a National Award for choreography. She has also won awards as a director.

Her style of choreography can be described as fun, spontaneous, unique, simple yet lavish and effortless. The set pieces and the steps are always different. The synchronicity is not mechanical, it is real and believable. Some of her famous steps are from songs like Ek pal ka jeena from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Dard-e-disco and Deewangi from OSO, Desi Girl from Dostana, It's the Time to Disco from Kal Ho Naa Ho and Rukja O Dil Deewane from DDLJ.

Farah is funny man Sajid Khan's sister. She struck a really good friendship with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na so it was no surprise that he produced and acted in her directorial debut: Main Hoon Na which was a smash hit. The opening song Chale Jaise Hawaein featuring Amrita Rao and Zayed Khan was shot in one take only from beginning to end, a first for Hindi cinema. Her film Om Shanti Om is the one of the biggest hits in Indian Cinema and the highest grosser of 2007. In spite of being a woman director, she did not make serious films. Her films are a tribute to Bollywood. She has a fantastic sense of humour and makes light hearted fun of all things Bollywood in her films. She is the first woman director whose films are such huge hits. For Farah, it is all about fun.

She has pretty much retired from choreography and only works for her special friends like Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

Farah married Main Hoon Na's editor Shirish Kunder, 15 years her junior in 2004. She gave birth to triplets Czar, Anya and Diva on February 11, 2008. Honey and Daisy Irani are her aunts and Farhan Akhtar is a cousin. Both Farhan and Farah are called Capri-9 because they share the same birthday, 9 January and the same sun sign: Capricorn.

Currently judging Nach Baliye with Arjun Rampal and Karisma Kapoor, Farah is all set to return with a film called Happy New Year and a talk show called Oh! Farah. We wish this fun-loving choreographer, director, mother and judge a very Happy Birthday.

'Nach Baliye' jodis try Bollywood style!

by Tellywatch News Desk

Jan 09, 2009, Mumbai

The upcoming episode of 'Nach Baliye 4' will see the various jodis groove to the Bollywood beat.

The jodis relive the romance of Bollywood's blockbuster couples on the dance floor of 'Nach Baliye 4'.They pay tribute to these celebrated couples and dance to their chartbusters.

In the 'Bollywood Jodi Special', the jodis' dancing recreates the chemistry that made many iconic Bollywood couples a hit! From the innocence of Kishore da and Madhubala to the chemistry of Amitabh and Rekha, 'Nach Baliye 4' has it all!

Reshmi and Amit dance the Cha-cha-cha with a mix of comedy that takes back everyone back to the era of Mehboob and Mumtaz. Up next are Sudeep and Anantika who display the chemistry of Akshay and Katrina as they groove to a chartbuster from 'Singh is Kinng'. Naman and Megha then try to bring out the energy and exuberance of Chi Chi and Karishma with their signature steps.
Jodis put their best foot forward to recreate the magic of Bollywood on stage. Who will be the superhit jodi of the week and whose performance will flop? Will Kapil and Anjali do justice to Amitabh and Rekha? Will the comic act of Shaleen and Daljeet be praised by all?

This 'Nach Baliye 4' episode airs on Friday (Jan. 9) at 8pm on Star Plus.

Now, this is what reality shows do to the contestants, the pressure gets so intense that they faint on stage. Reshmi Ghosh, a participant of Nach Baliye 4, experienced something similar.

Placed in the danger zone for the third consecutive week, Reshmi got a panic attack and fainted on the sets of Nach Baliye 4.

Reshmi admits that she wasn't able to handle the intense pressure that is a by-product of TV reality shows, saying, "I know that every profession comes with its share of stress and apprehensions. But it is the constant fear of being eliminated that kills one. Sometimes one just can't continue to endure it."

And she feels especially upset by the manner in which the results are decided. "I don't have any problem with the method of public voting. I get enough mails from my fans to believe how much they love me. I also get messages and calls from them. I don't know if other contestants have received such a great response. We've also been told that we were the couple who got the highest votes. Going by all this, it's not easy to accept our elimination. I wouldn't have really questioned it, had we got eliminated if we weren't performing well." Then who does she blame for your elimination? She replies, "It could be the channel or the organisers of the show."
And would she participate in another reality show after this one? She exclaims, "Oh, my mother will kill me if I say yes to any other reality show after this incident has happened!"
