Avni yawned as she wrote up the last file, she was eating her sandwich as she worked when a shadow fell infront of her face
Neil placed a piece of paper infront of her
She glanced down at it, then picked it up, her long manicured fingers scratching against the paper

"A ticket, where am I going"
"I have a trip for 1 week and I need my PA with me"
"I dont think I could leave Romeo alone"
Neil rolled his eyes
"Hes your boyfriend, chill, im sure he will survive without you for 7 days"
"Hes a dog"
Neil furrowed his brows "Rude to insult your boyfriend that way"

"No, he's an actual dog, you know woof woof"
Neil laughed, his head thrown back, making Avni flinch at the sound
"Oh I am an idiot, the biggest idiot, I will see you tomorrow Avni, 7am sharp I will be at your house"

"But"
"No buts, have a good night Avni"

It was the next morning when Avni heard a beep of a horn, she kissed Neela's cheek, grabbed her suitcase and walked outside
Neil stood, leaning against the car, his hair disheveled yet giving him that lazy handsome look
His eyes lit with humour when he looked toward her, rolling up his sleeves to just above his elbows he shoved his hands in his pockets

Avni focused on the muscular shape of his arms
His eyes following her as she threw her suitcase into the boot of the car
"Ready"
"Uh huh"
Neil pulled the door open for her
"Im such a gentleman"

Avni let out a disgruntled sigh but sat in the car and put her belt on
Neil started the car and turned his music down
"Watch where you're going I don't want anymore crashes"
Neil mock saluted and drove away

"Ever been on a plane before"
She shook her head
He noticed how her face paled and chuckled lowly to himself
"Whats so funny" she glared at him
"I think this plane ride will be fun"


They arrived about 40 minutes later to their plane
"You have your own private jet"
He nodded "I like to live the high life"
She walked in with him and sat down but as soon as the plane moved she grabbed his arm and dug her head into his shoulder
"Avni, you're fine, come on"
"Dont talk to me im gonna be sick"

"Dont be so over dra-"
Neil's sentence was cut short as Avni wretched and vommited all over his legs
She pulled back and downed some water
Neil stood up and walked to the bathroom to change

Avni threw her scarf over her face
His gruff voice amused "What you doing playing hide and seek"
"No, I just dont want to look at you after that, that was so embarassing, now you're gonna fire me and I will never get another job and then I will die alone and poor"
Neil pulled her scarf off her face

A sardonic look on his face
"You talk to much, you know that right"
She nodded, her cheeks red
He pinched one of them
"If you werent so cute"
Then he stopped shaking his head

"Sorry about the um"
"Its okay, accidents happen"
"So wait, you're not mad"
"No, why would I be, im not some monster"
Avni's eyes widened, her eyes glazing over

FLASHBACK-

A hand grabbed her chin "You always mess up, always, you make me this way, you know thay right, you make me hurt you"
Her face burned at the sharp impact on her cheek, his hand now pulled away

"Apologise"
"Sorry" she whispered
"Dont ever try that shit again, you're just a let down and that's all you will ever be, now clean up that mess"

Avni was shoved to the floor, her hands falling into her vomit, trying to grab the brush it was snatched from her hands
"Use your hands"

FLASHBACK OVER

"Avni, Avni" Neil called, clicking his fingers
She blinked then smiled tightly
"Wheres your mind at"
"Just daydreaming"
"About me I hope"

"In your dreams Sir"
"Oooh, that hurt"
"Good" she rebuffed

"Avni please, for the 100th time, please be quiet"
Neil had stupidly offered Avni some wine to calm herself down on the plane and now that they had arrived on solid ground, he had worked out that Avni had never touched a drop of liquor and was drunk, so drunk in fact he was worried she would pass out

She hiccuped loudly and her hand went to her mouth as she giggled, Neil took the time to study how the dark embers of her eyes lit up like a firework exploding in the dark night sky, it was drowning him as he stared intently at the way her lips rose as she smiled at him, something he had never seen her do and so would treasure

Avni threw herself on a bench, holding a leg up to him she cleared her throat
"My feet hurt, take my shoes off"
Neil looked on at her, irritated but also elated at her current state
Neil slipped her shoes off and she wriggled her toes

"Oops, guess you will have to carry me now"
Neil didnt miss the scarring around both her ankles like they had been chained up but chose not to intervene in matters that did not concern him
"Would that be so bad"
"Nope" she hiccuped again

Avni stood up, falling into Neil, he grasped her waist
"Lets go back to the hotel come on"
She pulled her face back, looking at his, she smiled
"You know you're not that bad Sir, but I still will always hate you"
"Why"
She stumbled back and laughed, slapping his chest

"Youre a man sir, no man has ever treated me right"
Her eyes filled with tears, her foot lifted as she hissed in pain
"Here, sit down let me see"
Neil sat Avni down
Pulling the glass out of her foot, she flinched her tears now rolling freely down her face

"Will you look after me sir"
"What do you mean" Neil asked, confused
"You like me right, you wont treat me how the others did"
"Who's the others Avni"
"They hurt me really bad sir, took away moments of my life I will never get back, but you're nice so you wont do it to will you"

"No, never, come on lets get you back to rest"
Neil picked her up and she rested her head on his shoulder, her eyes closed
Neil wondered how anyone could ever hurt a woman, let alone a woman like Avni

He walked towards the hotel, got their room keys and placed her on a bed
Her eyes shot open
"Cant you stay for awhile"
"Sure"
She closed her eyes and held his hand
Sighing she pulled his hand closer and leaned on it as she slept

"Pagal ladki, who would want to hurt my firecracker "
Neil sat by Avni all night
It was in the morning when she woke up to see Neil's head leaning awkwardly to the side she sat up

"Morning Avni" he yawned
"Morning sir"
"Do you remember any of last night"
She shook her head then groaned, grabbing her head
Neil nodded, it was good she didnt remember because he didnt want her to act different with him

"Avni"
"Hm"
"You talk a lot in your sleep"
"No I don't"
He smirked "Oh you do, and you spoke alot about how handsome your new boss is"
She blushed "No, no I didnt, you're lying"
"Am I" he whispered into her ear and walked out of the room

Neil closed the door and heaved a sigh "I will bring light back into your life Avni, no matter what it takes "
