Avni was mentally reeling as she drove back home with Sheru silently. "What was that? she thought. It was clear that Neil had wanted her to clarify her feelings for him and also her stand on Neo. No matter how unconventional, she was happy he had done it, coz now he can't be in any doubt as to what she felt.
"Avni Di...aap teek hai?" asked Sheru who observed how silent and introspective Avni was. "Avni Di..." He said again when he didn't get a response.
"Ha?" asked Avni absently.
"Apan ne pucha aap teek toh hai?"
"Ha ha...yes main teek hu...sorry...main kuch soch rahi thi!" she said apologetically. "But you know Sheru...it was strange. Vidyut's men didn't come and Neil was..." She said when suddenly something occurred to her.
"Oh my God...He knows...he so knows! she said to herself as she covered her mouth with her hand. "HOW did I not realise it this whole time? Avni asked herself again as she kept her palms on her flushed cheeks. "Neil KNEW...he knew I knew he was Neo...that's why he..." She trailed off as felt her cheeks warming up even more.
"Kya huwa tha Avni Di?" asked Sheru glancing at Avni and seeing him look at her, Avni blushed even harder as she recalled what Neil/Neo had done and said. How he had given her the rush from the moment she had arrived and the flirtatious and suggestive things he had said to her, and then how he had dissed her husband, calling him predictable and a do-gooder.
"Kuch...kuch nahi!" muttered Avni as she looked out the window, hoping Sheru didn't notice her blush. Sheru gave Avni a sideways glance and pursued his lips to supress a smile. Clearly something had happened at that warehouse between Avni Di and Neil Sir, which is why she was blushing. He wisely did not pry, but he remembered how Neil had said it was "Time to face the music and "Don't worry...your Avni Di is safe with me!" Sheru shook his head and looked back at the road.
Suddenly Avni glanced sharply at Sheru as something occurred to her. "Tumai bhi pata tha na?" asked Avni looking at Sheru who was looking at the road.
"Ha?" said Sheru not looking at Avni.
"Tumai bhi pata tha na ke Neil ko sab pata hai? There was no lead today...this was all a set up?" said Avni accusingly looking at Sheru.
"Avni Di..." Said Sheru looking at her apologetically. "Neil sir apan ko call kiya aur aap ko call karke bhulane ko kaha tha...aur aap jante ho na...Neil sir ko...usse koan mana kar sakta hai?" he asked with a sheepish smile.
"Oh really? Usse koan mana kar sakta hai? Kya main tumhari dost hu ya wo? Who's friend are you? Lagta hai tum bhi uska fan ban gaye ho? Sell out! God what is going on here...? First Ma, now you? Aap loag sab Neil ke deewane ho kya?" asked Avni with a disgusted look.
"Aap bhi toh ho na?" murmured Sheru.
"I heard that!" said Avni as she shook her head at him. "Aab jaldi se gadi chala, muje ghar ja ke Neil ka class lena hai! Tujai main baad main dek lungi!" said Avni as Sheru smiled at her and sped up a bit more.

Neil had arrived home before Avni and had a quick shower. He changed into his tracks and t-shirt and just then he heard the sound of footsteps outside their door and he quickly rushed to the couch, sat down on it and started looking at his phone, pretending to be reading.
Avni walked in and Neil gave a quick glance at her. She was wearing a blue sari with an off shoulder black blouse. Neil realized that she had changed out of her vigilante Ananya clothes. Avni kept a stash of her clothes in one of the guest rooms which was close to the back door of the house. So when she came from these excursions, if she was unsure everyone was already asleep, she usually changed in there and came to their room.
Avni looked at Neil. "So which actress has recently broken up with her boyfriend and all the fans want her to date her co-star who is way hotter than him?" asked Avni.
"Ha?" asked Neil as he looked up from his phone.
"You're on social media right? So what else could be getting discussed there?" she asked with a raise of her brows. (Why did he feel a sense of Deja vu hearing this. It's like they had had this conversation before? Yes they had, but he had been the one dishing it out then)
"Oh let me guess? Your reading an article right? Probably an article about how husband's like to trick their wives, and get them to do their bidding?" asked Avni.
"What?" asked Neil.
"Yeah...I read an article like that recently. You know like the article you recommended to me about bored housewives? Pretty good by the way! Thanks for that!" said Avni in a fake sweet tone as she walked further into the room.
"Avni...is everything OK?" asked Neil tentatively.
At this Avni walked over to him and placed both her arms on either side of him on the back of the couch and leaned over towards him. "Why don't you tell me Neil?" asked Avni. "Did you really think I wouldn't know where you have been?"
"Where have I been?" asked Neil slowly, looking up at Avni.
"Out with my sautan?" said Avni as she looked at him squarely.
"Sautan?...Ha?" asked Neil frowning in confusion, and suddenly it occurred to him. She knows...she so KNOWS! She knows he found out she knew he was Neo, and that he had set her up and played that whole game at the warehouse with her! Neil took a deep breath and looked at her, his eyes challenging.
"OK...so I did! What of it? After all...these days you seem more interested in Neo than me, so I thought I should find someone too..." said Neil with looking at her squarely.
"Really? You think I'll let you get away with it? You think you can two time me Neil Khanna?" asked Avni in mock anger.
"Why not? When you can two time me, Avni Khanna?"
"What's that bimbo's name?"
"Hey she's not a Bimbo...she's Ananya...she's kick ass and she's hot!" said Neil with a smirk.
"Oh really? Well Neo's just as bad ass and hot...!" said Avni.
"Looks like they are made for each other? said Neil with a twist of his mouth. "Now why don't we introduce them and maybe they'll get married just like we did?" said Neil raising his brows at her.
"Maybe we should? Maybe Ananya's husband will trust her enough to tell her he's a vigilante!" said Avni, her eyes suddenly serious. Seeing her expression, Neil got serious too. He put lifted his hands to Avni's hands that were trapping him to the couch and took them down. He then put his arm around her waist and pulled her down to his lap. His hand went up and cupped her face as he made her look at him.
"Avni...baby...it was never about Trust!" he said softly, but his tone was serious and so were her eyes.
"Then why didn't you tell me the truth?" asked Avni, her arms going around his neck.
"Because I love you, and I wanted to protect you. It's called plausible deniability. I wanted you to be able to convincingly say that you didn't know who Neo was if you were ever questioned!" said Neil.
"Neil...I'm your wife. They can't make me testify against you. Whatever you say to me comes under marital privilege!" said Avni with a shake of her head. "You know enough law to know that?"
"I know that Avni...but the situation you were in, you were already in trouble with the law. You only just got out of one sticky situation, I didn't want you to land in another, if you knew I was Neo, and you could not deny it convincingly if you were ever questioned! Of course I should have realised you would go out on your own and find it out anyway!" said Neil with a shake of his head.
"You have no idea how hurt I was, coz I thought you didn't trust me!" said Avni as she leaned over and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"And you don't know how hurt I was coz I thought you had a thing for Neo. That you felt this connection to him that you didn't feel with me!" said Neil as his fingers tangled in her hair and he pulled her closer to him.
"You're a fool!" said Avni softly. "How could you even think that I would want anyone but you? No matter how much of a hot vigilante he was?" asked Avni.
"He is pretty hot isn't he? If I do say so myself?" said Neil with a smirk.
"He's so full of it! Trust me...he's not as hot as my husband! In fact, I just rejected him..." Said Avni glancing at her watch "Hmmm...like an hour ago!" she said with a small shrug. "I prefer the subtle type!"
"So now that you don't want Neo and you rejected him...I guess you're stuck with me?" asked Neil.
"I guess I am..." Said Avni. "So you going to make it worth my while?" she asked huskily.
"What did you have in mind?" asked Neil as he ran his fingers over her bare waist.
"Come on babe...don't play hard to get...why don't we take up where we left off?" said Avni with a small wink.
"What do you mean?" asked Neil pretending to be shocked. "I think you may have got the wrong idea?"
"Oh...I don't think so...see I don't know how you play it with the other girls you play with...but this girl knows when a guy is into her...and you...Neil...are into me!" she said as she ran her hand over his t-shirt clad chest.
"Oh really?" asked Neil trapping her hand against his chest and lifting it to his mouth he placed a kiss in her palm. "So what do you suggest?" he asked.
"How come you're asking me for suggestions now, when not long ago, you were giving me the rush? Didn't you want me to kiss you before? Why so shy? Why don't you come share some of that sugar with me?" asked Avni.
Neil pulled her closer and murmured against her lips."Get ready for a sugar high!" as he started to kiss her. Soon Avni had her fingers tangled in Neil's hair as she pressed herself close to him and kissed him back.
Neil moved his mouth away from her as they both came up for air, but then his mouth started to trail kisses along her neck and then he started to place biting kisses on her shoulders. "Neil!" Avni gasped as her fingers fisted into Neil's hair. Neil fiddled with the pin keeping her sari in place on her shoulder and it gave way and soon her sari was falling off her shoulders. Neil then placed nibbling kisses on her other shoulder too.
"Neil..." Avni panted..."I...I need a shower!"
"What?" said Neil as he lifted his head to look at her. "A shower?...But I thought we..." he trailed off when Avni giggled.
"Who said I wanted to have a shower alone?" said Avni with a small wink as she got up from Neil's lap, and put her hand out for him. He took it and stood up. "But I already had a shower?" said Neil.
Avni pulled Neil towards herself as she started to move closer to the bathroom. She turned around and looked at him. "It's time for you to get dirty again!" said whispered as she opened the bathroom door.
Neil shook his head as he laughed and Avni giggled as she pulled him into bathroom and closed the door.

At least an hour later, they were lay under the covers on their bed, Avni's head resting on Neil's shoulder and her hand was resting on his chest. Neil's arm was around her holding her close and their legs were tangled together.
"Neil..." Said Avni softly.
"Hmmm... said "Next time...can you wear the mask?" she murmured.
"Ha? asked Neil as he looked down at her.
"Neo's mask? Can you wear it when we..." She trailed off as she bit her lip.
"Oh my God...you really dig that mask don't you? I knew it! You dirty girl!" said Neil with a soft laugh.
"Yeah well...you do look hot in it...and it's like role play you know?"
"So if I'm Neo, then I guess you have to be Ananya?"
"Yes but Ananya wears a hoodie?" said Avni making a face. "Hardly sexy?"
"Who said anything about the hoodie? I'm more interested in the boots!" said Neil with a smirk.
"Who's the dirty one now?" Asked Avni.
"Not bad for a stuff shirt do-gooder and a bored housewife ha?" asked Neil.
"Trust me baby...this housewife will never be bored with you!"
"Well then it's settled. I'll bring my mask, if you bring your boots!"
"It's a deal!" said Avni as she giggling as Neil turned her around and pinned her to the bed as he silenced her with a kiss!

Ok people.
I tried and I succeeded in completing the final chapter. As you can see our Takkar ki jodi can never stop outsmarting each other and that is why they are made for each other! Hope you all liked it, and as always, please leave your feedback!
