Neil's frustration knew no bounds. He just ended a decade-long call with Juhi's who was terrified after having a nightmare.
He understands and sympathizes with Juhi's and really and genuinely wants to help her. But he also wants to help herself. They say God helps them who help themselves. Well, Juhi is not getting the memo. In the first week, he was very sympathizing and deeply sad for what Juhi went through. But when Juhi refused to help them bring Mishty from Vidyut, Juhi irritated him. Even though Avni is not Juhi's mother she volunteered herself to bring Mishty back from that monster. Neil is surrounded by extremely strong women in his life. His wife, Neela Maa, Bebe and also his mother who didn't give up on life when her first love died and had the courage to fall in love once again were fine examples of it. Seeing Juhi acting so weak makes him want to shake some sense into her. She was not like this, at least the Juhi he knew wasn't or he thought she wasn't.
Neil remembered what he was doing before being interrupted by Juhi. Neil's heart skipped a beat as his mind conjured the image of Avni looking breathtakingly beautiful standing in front of him. He smiled and ruffled his hair thinking how far he and Avni had come. From being enemies to friends to loving husband and wife. He cannot wait to return back to his wife and finish what he started.
Neil was just a few feet away from the gazebo when he witnesses the moment that shocks the hell out of him.
He is frozen to the ground, his heart beating so fast as he watches his wife in arms of Vidyut.
As Avni hears the sound of footsteps, she whirls back with a smile on her face expecting her husband to have returned. But she gets the shock of her life as she watches Vidyut in front of her.
"Tum!" exclaims Avni shocked.
"I mean aap..aap yaha kya rahe hai?" asked Avni clearly flustered after seeing the target of their plan in front of her.
"Kyu nahi hosakta mein yahape Miss Ananya Verma?" asked Vidyut emphasizing on Ananya Verma.
"I thought parents are allowed in this camps, aren't they?" asked Vidyut raising his eyebrows.
"Waise kya mein puch sakta hu ki tum yaha kya kar rahi ho" he questions her with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
She shakes out of her shocked state and thanks god that Neil is not with her at the moment.
"Kyu, idhar ane ke liye bhi mujhe aapki permission leni padegi?" fires back Avni
Vidyut steps forward, still not meeting her eyes, as takes her arm in his,
"Tum yaha meri beti ko sambhalne ayi ho, vacation manane nahi."
"Go be with Mishty. I don't want you to leave her alone even for a second".
"I for one am your boss and I pay you to take care of my daughter, not to act as if you are on a vacation." Do you understand?."
This shuts up Avni for good and she nods.
"Now go! Go find my daughter and bring her to me." orders Vidyut arrogantly after being satisfied with her meekness.
What he doesn't know is that she is Avni. Avni doesn't have a meek bone in her body. She stayed quiet and acted submissive because doesn't want him to ask more questions. She didn't want him to be any more curious about her. She had to act smartly and not based on her emotions, thought Avni.
As Avni turns around to leave, the heel of her sandal gets tangled with the hem of her gown and she slips. She closes her eyes and braces herself for the fall when a pair of arms saves her from falling. As she opens her eyes, she watches another set of hard eyes staring at her with an unexplainable expression.
His arm is around her waist and her palm on his chest stabilizing her.
Watching Vidyut look into her eyes with a strange expression makes her very uncomfortable. She tries to shake out of his arms but he wouldn't let her.
From the corner of her eyes, she watches Neil standing few feet away from her witnessing all this with pure rage in his eyes. All she wants is to go to him and be in his arms but a furious Neil leaves the place, his face distorted with rage.
Vidyut is still staring at her when she asks him to leave her. As if getting out of his stupor, Vidyut pulls her up and removes his arm from her waist.
Avni gets back on her feet and moves few steps behind efficiently creating distance between them.
She thanks Vidyut for saving her from falling and leaves the place as if the hounds of hell itself are behind her.
As she is away from gazebo and Vidyut, she finally takes a breath of relief to be away from that man. There is something about him which unsettles her. She and Neil know that he is dangerous but it irks her that they do not know to what extent.
Her relief doesn't last long as she remembers Neil and what he must have interpreted after watching her and Vidyut.
No! Neil would believe me when I explain it all to him, thought Avni and started walking towards the direction of the camp.
