Avni was standing under a beautiful gazebo which was constructed a little away from the camp location. She was looking at the moon, her face calm; she was anything but. Her husband of one year, who was currently dancing with other women in the party that the camp organizers have arranged was getting on her last nerve. Here she was trying her best to find a way to get Mishti away from Vidyut and her husband, was busy flirting with those vampire ladies. Forget complimenting her, he hadn't even looked at her since she had entered the party. It hurt. It hurt watching her husband finding other women's company more interesting than hers. So, what he is supposed to be acting as a trainer, he could have at least looked at her and smiled that smile of his which makes her heart stutter. But no Mr. Neil Khanna was busy flirting with those attention-hungry vampire ladies. She was fuming as a vision of her husband in arms of some woman conjured into her mind. She was about to leave when the target of her rage entered the gazebo with a smirk on his face.
Avni was so angry that she wanted to slap the smirk away from his face. But she didn't do it. She can't do it. Instead, she looked away from him in the direction of the waves that were kissing the shore. Neil came closer to her and moved her chin upwards using his hand making Avni look him into his eyes.
"Single ho tum? He asked calmly, though she could feel undercurrents of anger in his voice.
"Ha hun mein single. Replied Avni defiantly.
"Avni yaar yeh nahi keh sakti ki tum committed ho? Yeh kehne ki kya jarurat hai ki tum single ho?
"Accha? Tum to bade Kanhaiya banke raas leela racha rahe they un vampire ladies ke saath.
Frown erased from Neil's forehead as he started laughing at his Wifey's sarcastic rant.
"Has kya rahe ho? They are vampires. They all were eying you as if you are the last drop of blood left on earth and they have not fed on human blood since centuries.
"Oh my god Avni. Stop! Neil broke down in laughter again.
"Hey, I guess something's burning! Can you smell it too? Asked Neil after recovering from his bout of laughter.
"Burning? My foot. I am happy with my single status. Thank you very much. Replied Avni narrowing her eyes.
"Woah stop right there with this Single bullshit. Just because you are not wearing my mangalsutra and sindoor right now, that doesn't mean you are single okay?
"You are committed to me for this life and all the other lifetimes. Do you understand?
He stared at her, intimidating her while Avni kept mum.
"AVNI?! He asked again irritated by her lack of response.
"Yes, only if you promise not to flirt with any other women ever again. Said Avni and started walking away from Neil.
Neil chuckled at her antics. He stopped her from leaving the gazebo by hugging her from behind.
Avni's breath was caught in her throat as she felt Neil's body molded to hers.
His blew air in her ear and placed his chin on her bare shoulder.
"By the way did I tell you how extraordinarily beautiful and ravishing you look in this red gown?
"Did I say how difficult it was to not come running to you are take you away from all these people?
"Did I tell you how I had to avoid looking at you at all to maintain my role as Neerav, the trainer.
"Did I tell you how close I had come to ruining our mission tonight? uttered Neil in one breath while Avni's breath caught in her throat.
Electricity jolted through her body as she felt his lips on her neck. Neil trailed kisses from her neck to shoulders. A wave of passion roared throughout her body as his lips gently sucked the skin over her collarbone making Avni gasp. He turned her and slowly leaned closer to her, closing the gap between their lips. Pure pleasure was what Avni felt as his lips touched her hungry ones. His tongue entered her mouth with a singular purpose of marking her as his. She, not slightly surprised by his show of dominance pushed her body towards his and kissed him as hard as he was kissing her. His hand which was on her back pushed Avni even closer to himself making them seem one, while their tongue's dueled with each other for dominance, stroking and caressing. The kiss that she was sharing with her husband was earth-shattering. She was so turned on with whatever ministrations his tongue was doing to her mouth and her body that she could not think anything but him.
They come up for air as a piercing sound of a ringing phone entered into their hazy mind.
Breathing heavily, Neil curses after realizing it is his phone that was responsible for disturbing the most precious moment between him and his wife. He removes the cursed object from his pocket and realizes it is Juhi who was calling him continuously.
He looks at his wife, whose lips are swollen with his kisses, cheeks are as red as tomato and hair all messed up looking thoroughly kissed, and tells her the same.
A foreign emotion passes through Avni's face so quickly that he is unable to decipher it. She smiles that smile of hers which conveys that she understands.
He answers the phone and he could hear Juhi's voice frantically taking his name again and again like a broken record.
"Juhi calm down. Calm down Juhi. Says Neil in a bid to make her calm and know the reason why she called him so late at night.
Her voice was getting cracked due to poor reception so he cups Avni's face in his palms and informs her that he will be back in 5 and goes away in search of better reception.
Avni closes her eyes takes a shaky breath. She looks at the waves that are meeting the land and going back. She cannot help herself from comparing her relationship with Neil as that of waves and land. As much as they want to stay together, they cannot because something or the other keeps pulling one back. She understands that Neil must take care of Juhi as Juhi is in a weak state at the moment. She understands everything. But that doesn't mean it hurts any less.
A sound of footsteps interrupts her depressing thoughts. She whirls back with a smile on her face expecting her husband to have returned, but she gets the shock of her life seeing Vidyut standing few steps away from her under the gazebo.
