CHAPTER 11Prakash ji was lying on his bed in his room. Avni got him discharged from hospital as he hate to be in hospital. She knew he'll recover faster at home. As he gained consciousness both the ladies bombarded him with a lot of questions on him. He was really amused to see them both caring this much about him.
"how many times i told you to take driver with you but you didn't cared to pay heed to my words" Shweta started scolding him.
"You o.k. na dad. You almost gave me a heart attack. I was so scared. "Avni expressed her concern.
"I m perfectly ok you guys are giving exaggerated reaction" Prakash said in his defense.
Both the ladies stared him with "you're impossible"wala look.
"When i was driving suddenly a truck appeared from wrong side. Before i could apply brakes my car got crashed. I was inside the car not able to move. I accepted the defeat. But a young guy came for my rescue. My car caught fire. But still he saved my life putting himself in danger." Prakash explained them the incident.
Till now both the ladies were in tears. They hugged him.
Prakash : Aahhh!!!!
Instantly the pulled back.
Shweta : sorry prakash ji i forgot that you are hurt
He grinned mischievously. Shweta frowned at him.
Prakash : i couldn't see his face. But for a sec i felt like... Like he is Neil. Same concern in his voice...
He couldn't speak further. Avni was standing there like a statue . As she heard last line a stream of red hot blood rushed into her body making her numb.
Prakash and Shweta were trying very hard to hide the pangs of separation from their dear son. The day they believed Avni that Neil will return they decided that they will wait for him and never shed tears at his mention.
Avni sensed their sadness. She can bear anything but not sadness of her parents. She immediately fetched something from her room.
"Dad this is for you" she presented him the card actually made by Neil. She did so to enlighten his mood.
But opposite happened. Now prakash and Shweta were in tears.
"This is so beautiful beta. Exactly the way... the way Neil used to make it. This had became a tradition from his childhood. He always used to make me a card on Fathers Day" prakash ji said while tracing the words scribbled on the card.
Avni excused herself and went in her room. She closed the door and sat on floor and a lone tear dropped from her eyes.
"Dad ko bhi wahi lagta hai Neil jo mera dil kehta hai. Par tumhe Mr Kapoor ki life yaad hona mujhe galat sabit kar deta hai. Tumhari aankhon me Ayna ke liye wo dard jhoota nahi tha. Tumhara ye behavior mujhe pagal kar dega" she was complaining to Neil.
Although Neil has left a year back but his memories covered all four walls of their room. Avni has created a separate world for her in this room. She sat there for sometime looking at the pictures.
Someone knocked on the door.
Avni cleared the traces of her dried tears and opened the door a little.
Avni saw Ali.
Ali : kaisi hai tu??
Avni : Ali tu what a pleasant surprise. Tu yahan ???
Ali : came to see uncle. Nanno and Neela aunty also came.
Avni : It's good that you guys came. Mera bhot man ho raha tha tum sab se milne ka.
Ali : i thought you're happy in your world. Anyway andar aane ko nahi kahogi.
Avni nodded in no. "Nahi".
He smiled.
Ali : ok come dowm soon. We all are waiting... I m waiting... (he said moving back).
Ali : (thought) pichle ek saal se kuch nahi badla Avni. Tum abhi bhi us kamre me Neil ki yaadon ko pakde baithi ho. But one day you'll have to accept the harsh reality. And then also you'll find me waiting... For you...
Avni came to prakash's room. She was calm and composed now. She hugged Neela and Nanno
Nanno : kaisi hai mor bacchhi. Bhool gayi apni Nanno ko tu.
Avni : aisa ho sakta hai bhala.
Neela cupped her face.
Neela : you ok na Avni.
Avni : yeah ma ! I m absolutely fine. Just lil stressed about dad.
Shweta kept her hand on Avni's head.
Shweta : dad will be ok beta. Infact its good. Kam se kam ab meri baato ke liya thoda time to denge. Aur kaam se thoda aaram lenge. (she said to relieve Avni's tension).
Prakash ji gave her a assuring smile and she returned it.
They all had their dinner together.
Avni spent some really good time with Ali. Little does Ali discovered that Avni is quite changed. Although she laughed and smiled in past one year more than necessary. But this time her smile did reached her eyes. She was more lively now. And according to him it's good the she is reverting back to herself leaving Neil behind ... But was it true... Or just a perception of Ali...
After a good session of family get together. Ali , Nanno and Neela left. Avni gave prakash ji medicine. She insisted to sit there for tonight but shweta asked her to relax as the day quite tiring for her.
Avni went to her room. Hugs Neils photo. Pulled the comforter and switched off the lights.
During midnight Avni felt someone's presence. She opened her eyes and saw the shadow of a tall figure standing near the Window. She instantly throw a vase in his direction but his animal instincts were incomparable. He caught it and moved towards Avni. She comes into her bruce lee avataar and punches him hard on his face which would have surely displaced his jaw.
She was about to scream when he jumped on her. She fell on bed and he was on her. He pressed her mouth with his hands.
"Hey!!!!ssshhh! Calm down. It's me." he said slowly.
Listening the voice she opened her eyes which she closed in fear. And stared at his face which was looking extremely handsome in moonlight.
He removed his hand slowly as his fingers brushed against her rose petal like lips. Her eyes widened and lips started shivering due to his ice cold hands.
Avni : tum???
Neil : haan main?? Actually i was missing you so came to wish you good night.
Avni eyes popped out of their sockets. She was staring at him like he has developed extra ears. He was still lying upon her. With hand on her arm and other supporting his weight.
Neil was trying hard to supress his laugh seeing her expressions.
Neil : kyun nahi aa sakta???
Avni was motionless. She could feel him on herself which was making her loose her senses.
Neil : just kidding yaar. Actually i was worried about dad.
Avni : dad??? ( narrowing her eyes).
Neil : i mean your dad. I wanted to know about his condition. So i called you many times but u didn't picked it. So i came myself.
Avni's expression were that of extreme shock and confusion.
Neil : (smirking at her) tumne kya socha??? Main tumhare liye...
Avni shrugged her thoughts away. She grabbed his collars and turned him on other side of bed. Now Avni was above him.
Avni : shut up. You're really mad. Don't you know its bad manners to enter a girls room and that too at this time??
Neil was just staring her. He admired this daring version of Avni from the day she threatened his manager at his office.
Avni : speak up. (she shaked him holding his collars)
Now Neil turned her back to previous position
Neil : girl aur tum??? Are you joking?? The way you punched me just now. You don't fit in the category of girl.
Avni kicked him and he fell down hurting himself.
Neil : ouchh!! Are you mad?? That hurts me.
Avni sat besides him.
Avni : now say that i m not pretty.
Neil : (looking at her and tucking her hair strand behind) you're the prettiest.
Avni turned red. She didn't expected this.
Neil : now please turn the light on.
Avni : noo
Neil : what?????
Avni : ( thought) this room is full of Neil's pictures if i switched the light on m might come to know everything.
Avni : mom is awake. If she saw you what she will think???
Neil : yahi ki their daughter has a very handsome boyfriend.(laughing)
Avni : shut up.
She holds his hands and makes him sit on bed. And she sits in front of him kneeling down.
Avni : dad ab thik hai. Thank you so much. First you saved my life. And now saved dad. You don't have a idea if something have happened to dad i would not be able to live.
Her eyes started sparkling due to accumulation of water in them.
He hugged her.
Neil : nothing bad can happen with such a selfless soul like you Avni. You have taught me what is life. The fear of death. And why love is stronger than both.
Both sat in that hugging position don't know how long.
Neil : Avni now please let me go otherwise your mom would surely misunderstand.
She pulled herself back.
Avni : tum khidki se aye the ab wahi se jao.
Neil : but my ankle is sprained.
Avni : ok now wear this mask and follow me.
Neil : but how will i see.
Avni : that's what i want
Neil : what??
Avni : just do as i say.
Neil wasn't able to see anything and he holded Avni by shoulder. She dropped him to car.
Avni : bye!!
Neil : good night. See you soon otherwise I'll come to see you.
Avni : noo. Never come here. I'll come to you.
Neil holds her hand "sure na "
"pakka baba now leave me" avni went inside.
Neil smiled to himself and drove away.
Avni was returning to her room thinking how his presence affects her. How he made her do every childish things she would have never done otherwise. A smile crept on her face remembering their moments from the past one week to the recent one.
