Chapter 80

Shamshaan was still alive with burning piles. The hospitals would often leave unclaimed dead bodies here after a while. None of those bodies were of use to the aghoris because they were all longer than two months dead. They were preserved. Then thrown away when no one came to claim them. The aghoris would gather the wood and burn the bodies, praying for the peace of the souls of the dead.

Veer’s soul energy rune had allowed him to see the souls that were still there. Since Veer had killed Markaat. The death and soul energy rune had started to appear on his arm. Now, it had finished forming completely. He felt it activated just before Shakura was going to die. Markaat called himself the god of death for a reason. He had a certain mastery over death rune and soul energy rune. Markaat had gained that energy from killing several aghoris and absorbing their energy.

The souls saw Veer. The way he emitted life energy begun to pull them towards his. Veer saw several of them dead in road accidents and some murdered ones. They were disappearing into the soul world. Veer didn’t feel scared of them. Shamshaan was not a fearing place for him. He had been here several times. Veer had always been able to sense souls around in Shamshaan, now he was able to see them.

Kakot looked around while sitting on Veer’s shoulder. Veer didn’t know why he had the rune of death. He found them just when Bani was killing Shakura. They had activated themselves. Veer knew that feeling of violence burning in him. The same violence he felt when he had killed Markaat. It was mind-numbing madness.

The aghori was sitting and meditating. The same aghori who had told him earlier about Bani being in trouble. Veer walked there.

“Soch hi raha tha tum aaoge.” He answered not opening his eyes to look at Veer.

“Purane baba kaha chale gaye? Kahin gaye hue hai kya?” Veer asked about the aghori he knew since his childhood.

“Honge kahin. Aghori ka ek staan nahi hota. Jaate rehte hai.”

Veer smiled and shrugged his shoulders. “Guess he deserves a vacation too.”

“Yahan aaye ho toh koi baat hogi.”

“Baba, aapko koi tareeka pata hai jisse yeh mark hata sake?”

He was in his human cheel form. Black ripped jeans, the cheel boots, a black full-sleeved shirt, and a black cape coat. The cape coat had feathers on it. Feathers resembling his own feathers. The same contour plumage of feathers. His black full-sleeved shirt had golden and silver designs on them. Rings on his fingers.

Veer pulled up his sleeve and showed the runes. They were of the same color as his skin with just one shade darker. An expert would know it as runes. Most people didn’t notice and would assume it was just a random patch. The soul energy rune and death rune. Veer had earlier gained the soul energy rune when he had managed to use his own soul energy successfully to activate Rudra jaal. The death rune was something Markaat always had. He had spent ages with aghoris learning how to manipulate death and soul energy. Hence, he had become really powerful. Markaat had killed several aghoris and absorbed their powers. That’s how he learned to manipulate soul energy.

Before Markaat got the rune, he still seemed to be something. The moment he received it, he went out of control. Suryash started to become Markaat while in the process of getting the rune. Once he got it, he had gone berserk.

“Apni niyati ko hata nahi sakte ho, Veeranshu. Jo tumhari niyati hai, use tumhe sweekar karna hi hoga.”

“Matlab aap ise hata nahi sakte?”

Veer didn’t want to go crazy like Markaat. He knew how some powers make a person insane. It needed a heavy amount of control to control the death rune. Markaat lost the ability to control the death rune and the death rune started controlling Markaat. The death rune in incapable hands was like a blade getting a mind of its own and addicted to tasting blood.

“Niyati ko koi nahi badal sakta, Veeranshu. Yeh tumhari niyati hai. Markaat ka anth karna tumhari niyati thi. Tum usse bhaag nahi sakte.”

Veer knew himself. He enjoyed wielding power. He wasn’t the power-hungry kind who wanted all the power in the world and wanted to be the only one who was so powerful. Yet, Veer also knew he enjoyed the power he held.

“Jab tak sar kisi ke saamne jhukta hai, tabh tak yeh yaad rehta hai ki koi tumse adhik shaktishaali hai, Veeranshu. Jab tak yeh gyaat hai, tab tak tum Markaat nahi ban sakte. Markaat banne ke liye aadat lagni hoti hai kisi ke bhi saamne sar na jhukane ki. Jis pal Suryash ka sar Narayan ke saamne jhukna band hua, woh Markaat ban gaya. Apne aap ko unke barabar maanne laga. Apni shakti ko unki shakti se tulana karne laga. Tabh se Suryash Markaat ban gaya. Sar jhukane ka matlab yeh hai ki tum mein shakti hai kisi baat sunke samajhne ki. Prakriti mein koi sabse zyaada shaktishaali nahi hota, Veeranshu. Koi toh hoga jo tumse zyaada shaktishaali hoga. Suryash ko lagta tha ki who sabse shaktishaali hai par phir tum aaye uske staan par. Phir kuch varsho baat sambhavta hai ki tumhare bacche ho jo tumse bhi adhik shaktishaali honge.”

Veer listened to him carefully. Not disturbing him between. He nodded his head that he was listening and understanding. Veer quickly flew off towards the island. He landed inside the volcano. Looking around the volcano’s land, he finally found the rotting body. Markaat’s own body. Halfway burning, halfway being eaten by insects, flies, and maggots over them. Veer knew the pain he must have gone through. Locked up in this volcano. Chained up. Veer used gandhak patthar to break the chains. Once the body fell limp, Veer picked it up. He returned to the shamshaan with the body.

The aghori looked at Veer. For someone who claimed he wasn’t emotional, the aghori knew Veer could feel the most powerful emotions. Suryash never had anyone to perform his final rites. He had no sons. His father was long dead. No brothers. He had left himself so lonely.

“Yahan laake kya karoge, Veeranshu? Koi hai nahi Suryash ke liye uska antim sanskaar karne ke liye. Usne khud yeh apni niyati mein likha hai.” The aghori said.

“I’ll do it.” Veer offered. “Main pura kar dunga.”

Markaat was dead, to now hold a grudge over him for all he did would seem insane. A moment later, Veer saw Sam and Tapish fly down. Sam must have seen it. Both of them were dressed in white. They didn’t ask for an explanation. They just stood with Veer.

There was an unsaid explanation on why he was doing so. Veer wasn’t the emotional kind. No. He didn’t have many emotions for others. Especially not for someone like Markaat. Veer told himself, it was to make sure that Markaat cannot come back. Was Bani making him soft? Veer wondered. He can’t keep the cheels in check if he gets soft. Cheels were not like naags. They answered to power. They were more animal-like even with their human forms. Animals only understand the language of dominance. If the alpha falls weak, there would be several others who would pounce on the opportunity to take over.

Veer burnt the pyre with Markaat’s body on it. As he watched it burn, he felt an odd kind of realization. There would always be someone more powerful than the last. The successor surpasses his predecessor. Either better or worse. Markaat’s own wings fluttered open. It was a natural response. Once they were dead, their real form shows up. On the burning pyre, everyone has to show their true form. The white feathers on the wings showed up. One of the feathers came off the wings. Everything else caught fire and went on burning. Veer picked up the white feather. It was similar to an albino eagle’s feather.

Veer flew back to the caves. The cave’s throne room was now changed from earlier. The statue was gone and replaced with a black marble statue of a phoenix. It was made from black marble and decorated in gold.

Veer looked at the throne. The gold and black throne. The golden wings behind resembling Garud’s golden wings. Veer never sat on this throne before. It reminded him of Markaat. He touched the throne. Veer had told Balwant that he wanted to have the room changed. There was a chandelier from the top of the roof. A large glass dome covered the top opening of the roof. The chandelier was hung in the center using chains. He touched the throne. He knew the throne had healing stones of its own. Markaat had them added so that even when he was injured and sitting on the throne, he would heal faster.

Veer sat on the throne. He had to admit, it felt powerful to sit there. The lure of power was always strong. If there was one who knew control, it was Veer. Kakot flew into the place. He sat on the arm of the throne. Veer looked at the feather.

“Veer…” Veer sighed at the way his name was being shouted.

“Sunai deta hai. Aasmaan mein nahi hun ki itne zor se chilla raha hai.” Veer answered Nikhil. He clicked his fingers letting Nikhil enter. Veer moved on the throne. His back leaning against one arm of the throne. His one foot on the other arm and the other leg dangling over the arm. Nikhil looked at how disrespectful it seemed. Veer was sharpening his talons against a dagger.

“This is disrespectful. Theek se baith sakta hai?”

Veer rolled his eyes.

“My throne, my wish. Kaise bhi baithu.”

“Tum iske laayak nahi ho. Na tohi ski importance pata nahi hi iski zimmedari ki.”

Veer laughed. “I’d agree with you but then we’d both be wrong. Aur mujhe galat hona accha nahi lagta.”

“Tujhse bas aisa lagta hai ki tu sabse best hai. Aisa hai nahi.” Nikhil added. Veer rolled his eyes.

“Ab vehem ho jaaye toh Bhagwaan bhi use dur nahi kar sakte.”

“Tujhe bohot ghamad hai. Ek din tujhe le doobega.”

“Aur kuch bolna hai? Kyuki mujhe fark nahi padta. I’m used to people being jealous of me.”

Veer stretched himself on the throne. Picked up an apple from nearby and started eating it.

“Veeranshu…” The two saw Bani walk in. Nikhil looked at her. He knew that Veer’s greatest shield was this naagin. Everyone knew that only one who could kill Veer was Adi-Naagin. Cleverly, Veer had made his greatest enemy be his greatest ally. No naag naagin would dare to go against Adi-Naagin and try to kill Veer.

“Sweetheart.” Veer grinned.

“Tum yahan ho. Tapish bhai ne-” Bani was about to say something but then saw Nikhil and stopped. “What is he doing here?”

“Cheelon ki gufa hai. Mera yahan aana ajeeb nahi tumhara aana doubtful hai.”

“Mujhe lagta hai ki jitna main Veeranshu ke baare mein nahi sochti utna toh tum sochte ho.” Bani commented. “Kabhi usse ladne nikal aate ho yaa phir uske baare mein baat karte rehte ho?”

Veer laughed. Nikhil looked at Bani. The two shared a look. Nikhil wasn’t going to let go of things easier. He then watched Veer sitting arrogantly. He wasn’t going to let things be smooth for Veer. Nikhil was quite burnt about the fact that he just had his greatest desire in his hands and Veer quickly snatched it away from him. The jealousy that had poured inside him since his childhood was now only rising. Especially when he saw Veer like this. The way he was so careless. Veer didn’t even know the greatness of that throne on which he sat so lazily and disrespectfully. It was Markaat’s throne. One of the greatest cheels.

“Khud ko asmaan ka raja kehte ho, Veer. Yaad rakh le. Jis din aasmaan ne haath choda, seedha zameen par aake girega. AUr jab girega toh uth nahi paayega.” Nikhil commented to Veer. Veer got off the throne and stood right before Nikhil.

“Thank you for your kind care. Kitni fikar hai tujhe meri. But tu toh mujhe bachpan se jaanta hai. Kabhi hua hai aisa ki maine apni marzi se aage kisi ki suni hai?”

Veer was quite aware of the kind of threat Nikhil was throwing at him. He would soon deal with this one cheel. He couldn’t deal with him as long as Bani was here.

“Tu keh rahi thi?”

“Tapish bhai daddyji se baat kar rahe the. He was talking about Meera di with him.”

Bani made him get back to Cheel Mansion. Tapish and Balwant were sitting by the balcony.

“Tu chahta kya hai, Tapish? Itna toh mujhe pata hai ki tujhe Meera pasand hai.” Balwant pointed out.

“Dad, sirf mere chahne se toh kuch nahi hota na. None of us know what Meera wants.” Tapish commented.

“Bani ko toh pata hoga. Behen hai uski.”

“Dad, hum yeh discussion kyu kar rahe hai?”

“Tere life list mein shaadi karna hai hi. Bas isiliye puch liya ki kya kar raha hai. You’re 30.”

“So?”

“Toh, Tapish bhai, baat yeh hai ki hume tayyari karni hai. Aap bas haan bolo, baaki sabh hum handle kar lenge. Meera ko manana kitna mushkil hai?” Veer added sitting next to his brother.

“Tu rehne de, bhai. Teri tarah nahi karni shaadi mujhe. I have a little more respect for people than you do.”

“Tapish bhai, mujhe pata hai ki Meera di ko aap pasand hai. The only thing is that she doesn’t realize it.” Bani added.

“Realize it? Use idea bhi nahi hai ki what that feeling even is.” Veer commented.

“Woh meri behen hai. She’s not that clueless.”

Veer and Tapish both looked at each other. Balwant laughed.

“Tapish bhai, leave that to us. I have the perfect idea. Bas thoda sa co-operation chahiye.” Sam walked in and stood up on the sofa next to Balwant.

“Kya mujhe bata sakte ho?” Tapish asked Sam.

“Trust me. All we need to do are two things. One, shoo away dad and bade papa. Two, convince Meera to stay with us for a while.” Sam answered.

“Wow. I feel so loved.” Balwant commented dryly.

“Sure. You can thank me as you please. I also do take cash as thanks.” Sam added. Veer laughed and gave him a fist bump. Balwant shook his head.

“Chalo dono kar diya. Uske baad?” Balwant asked.

“Uske baad sabh hum karenge.”

“Tum par toh mujhe bilkul yakeen nahi hai. Tu aur Veer baad itna aage badha denge ki pata nahi chalega kab baat bigad gayi. Daksh aur Ponky se hone se raha nahi. Inke bas mein sirf Mehek Dehek. Koi aur ladki inse patne se rahi nahi.” Tapish answered. Balwant laughed. Tapish saw himself stuck between extreme-sided brothers. Veer and Sam were quite popular but their own attitude and ego took it far. Daksh and Ponky had zero skills to impress girls.

“Tapish bhai, that’s quite rude. Mehek Dehek itne bhi bure nahi hai.” Bani tried to defend her sisters.

“Let’s be honest, Bani. Tumhari dono behene hawa mein sapne dekh rahe hai. Ek baar ke liye Sam bhi shaadi kar lega par commitment un dono ke bas ki baat nahi hai. Koi ladki mil jaaye badi baat hai. Tumhari beheno ko zyaada fark nahi padta ki unki shakal na ho ya akal na ho. Dono kaam chala lenge type hai. Kya train kiya hai tumhari chachi ne unhe.” Tapish pointed out. Veer and Sam laughed. “Teeno behene alag hi level par hai. Ek toh hai zero idea pe. Baaki dono behne kahi bhi kaam chala lengi. They just want rich people.”

“Itne bhi bure nahi hai. They do care about people. Maanti hun ki chachi ki tarah woh materialistic hai but they’re not gold diggers as such.”

“Tapish bhai, rehne do. Jab Valentine’s Day pe chance tha toh aap phone pe busy the. Meera ne koshish ki but aapne bhav nahi diya.”

“Exactly. Main aur Sam kuch kar hi lenge.” Veer assured with a grin.

Bani walked out with Balwant. The two were talking about something. The Singhania family dynamics had changed a lot. Balwant had begun accepting Bani more and more. She had become a part of this family for him. Veer didn’t have to get them to bond. Balwant himself had begun to give Bani that place.

Balwant gave Bani a few brochures.

“Veer ne bataya tha ki tum plan kar rahi ho apni padhai puri karne ki. Toh maine socha hai ki tum dekhlo inn colleges ko. They have a good MBA programme. Mere pehchaan ke deans hai inn colleges mein.” Balwant told her.

“Haan, plan toh hai but I’m still thinking if I should get for a student loan. Thode se headache hote hai.” Bani explained.

“Waise tohi ski zaroorat nahi hai.”

“Matlab aap sabh peeche hi padh gaye hai. I want to do this on my own.”

“Haan, haan, pata hai. Your greatness doesn’t allow you to stoop down to let your family help you isiliye yeh forms hai.”

Bani looked at them. They were scholarship forms.

“They actually have this kind of scholarship?” Bani was surprised.

“Contacts ho toh sabh kuch ho sakta hai. Tum decide kar lo ki konsa college select karna hai. Phir mujhe bata dena. Main baat kar lunga. “

“Aapko kya lagta hai? I’ve heard of these two. Meri kuch friends ne wahan se MBA kiya hai.”

“I think you should go for that one. Tapish aur Veer dono ne apne MBA wahan se complete kiya hai. Reputation hai college but mostly wahan ka ek tag hai. It had a good reputation for their graduates.”

“Veeranshu ne actually MBA kiya hai?” Bani was surprised. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

“Kya? Tumhe laga aise hi ghar pe baitha raha hai?”

“I didn’t mean that but Veeranshu se itni padhai expect nahi ki. Matlab the kind of person he seems. I didn’t assume ki usne apni life mein kabhi formal shirt and trousers pehen ke kisi company mein internship kiya ho.”

“He does have a high distinction in finance. Lagta hai ki padhai mein interest nahi hai uska but apni education toh puri ki hai usne.”

“Kabhi office jaate dekha hi nahi hai. Bas ek baar board meeting pe gaya tha. Warna toh humesha hi yahan wahan ghumte dekha hai.”

Balwant laughed at that.

“Veer ko kamre mein band karke nahi rakh sakte. Uske armaan office mein CEO banke baithna nahi hai. Aadat toh hai hi nahi kisi ki baat sunne ki. That’s why he owns clubs. He doesn’t need to sit in a room for that. Jab zaroorat hoti hai toh chala jaata hai warna yahi rehta hai.”

“Live Life King Size.”

Both Balwant and Bani laughed at that thought.

“Saare baccho ko apne sapne pure karne ka mauka nahi milta. Veer ko mila hai toh apne mann ki karta hai. Veer khush toh main bhi khush.”

“I’m sure aapki life ka sabse special moment tha jab Veeranshu paida hua tha.”

“Tapish.”

The answer surprised her. She had expected that his special moment would be Veer’s birth. After all, Balwant seems to treat him as his golden child.

“But aap Veeranshu se sabse zyaada pyaar karte hai.”

“Pyaar saare baccho hai. Par ek aadmi baap apne pehle bacche ke baad banta hai. Mera pehla baccha Tapish tha. First child. Jab Veer paida hua tha tabh baap toh already tha. Tapish ke aane se hi baap banne ki Khushi mili thi. Ek tarah se mere liye Tapish kaafi khaas hai. Mere dil ki baat keh sakta hun Tapish se. Use kabhi alag se jaake kehne ki zaroorat nahi padti. Shayad uski khaasiyat hai. Bina kahe hi samajh jaata hai. Jab main aur Pawan nahi sambhal paaye apne pariwaar ko tabh Tapish ne sabhko sambhaala hai. Teer ko usne sambhala tha. Ek tarah se baap hone ka farz usne nibhaya tha jab hum apni problems mein phase the.”

Bani smiled at the way Balwant spoke about Tapish. He loved Veer a lot but Tapish was his special child. Balwant was associated with Veer because Veer was Aakesh. His son even in Satyug but Tapish was only his son in this life.

“Yeh sabh chodo. Decide karke bata dena. Then we’ll see. Waise toh tumhari job lagne waali hai toh maine kuch abhi baat nahi ki hai. Tum soch lo aur phir bata dena.”

“Haan.” Bani nodded her head.

Bani smiled. They were an odd family. Balwant’s parenting was different from that of Girish. But when Bani thought about it, there was no way else to control a rowdy group of children who didn’t have a mother to control them.

They sat at the dining table. Bani had her breakfast.

“Main aur Pawan London jaa rahe hai. Business meeting hai. Toh tumhe kuch chahiye?”

“Nahi, aisa kuch khaas toh nahi hai.”

“Meri favorite jacket aur perfume.” Veer told Balwant, pulling a chair for himself and eating breakfast.

“Mere chocolates.” Ponky reminded.

Chapter 81

Nikhil kicked the potted plant angrily. Reyansh sighed.

“Abh gussa karne se kuch hoga kya? Kuch bhi nahi hoga. Better yahi hai ki hum sab hiss baat ko accept karle. Vineet, Vikram, Ajit and Sahaan all looked sour.

“Dad sahi keh rahe hai. Kuch kar nahi sakte uss Veer ka abhi. Uske paas Markaat ki bhi shaktiyan hai abhi. Kya pata humse humari cheel shaktiya cheen le. Accha hoga ki hum underground rahe.” Vikram added.

“Itne…” Nikhil showed an inch distance with his fingers. “Itne kareeb tha main apne sapne ko pura karne mein.” He threw the bottle of whiskey angrily. Reyansh rubbed his forehead at his son’s temper tantrum.

“Abh kya kar sakta? Kuch kar sakta hai? Lad sakta hai Veer se? Nahi dekha kaise maar diya usne Markaat ko? Markaat ko maara hai koi aire gaire cheel ko bhi nahi.” Reyansh tried to remind Nikhil.

“Itni asaani se toh main haar nahi maan raha.”

“Khud marega, hum sabh ko bhi mushkil mein daalega. Kya hi kar lega? Koi bhi nahi hai jo Veer ko maat de sake. Koi nahi.”

“Koi toh hoga jo Veer ko harana chahta hai.”

“Chandrakala thi, use maar diya. Adi-Naag tha, use bhi maar diya. Markaat tha, use maar diya. Shakura tha, usko bhi khatam kar diya. Inse bhi zyaada koi hai jo Veer ko harane ki takat rakhte hai.”

“Koi hoga. Hum sirf dhundhna hai aur use khatam karna hai.”

“Agar koi hai jo Veer ko maat de sakta hai toh woh hai Adi-Naagin. Par tune dekha, maine dekha, hum sabhne dekha. Adi-Naagin ko gazab apne pyaar ke jaadu mein lapeta hai. Mujhe nahi lagta woh Adi-Naagin kabhi Veer ke khilaaf jaayegi.”

“Koi naag naagin toh honge jinhe Veer aur Adi-Naagin se problem hai.”

“Hai. Kuch hai par tujhe lagta bhi hai ki unmein himmat hai Adi-Naagin ke khilaaf jaane ki?”

“Raat mein, pure chaand ki raat Adi-Naagin toh kamzor hogi hi. Pure chaand ki raat Cheel sabse takatwar hote hai. Tabh mauka dekh ke uss Adi-Naagin ko maar denge. Veer khud hi mar jaayega. Uss Adi-Naagin mein hi hai uski jaan. Bas use khatam kar denge.”

“Dad, mujhe lagta hai Nikhil bhaiya pure pagal ho gaye hai. Adi-Naagin ko maarenge? Mazak chal raha hai? Kitne naag naagin humare jaan ke dushman ban jaayenge, iska idea bhi hai? Woh ladki koi aam Naagin nahi hai. Adi-Naagin hai. Adi-Naagin.” Vikram commented.

“Tujhe darr lag raha hai toh tu jaa chup. Main toh yahin rahunga aur apna plan pura hi karke rahunga.”

Nikhil left the house and went up towards parag pahadi. In the way, he was ambushed by the Singhania brothers.

“Yeh kya hai.” Nikhil asked. Veer dived down and returned to his human form. He circled Nikhil.

“Warning hai. Mere raaste mein mat aa. Accha nahi hoga.” Veer told him.

“Lagta tera uss Naagin ke saath rehna ka dil nahi hai. Mere aas paas ghum raha hai.”

Veer grabbed his collar angrily.

“Meri patni ke baare mein kuch bhi bolne ki himmat mat karna. Warn kar raha hun. Mujhe bhanak bhi lagi ki tu Bani ko hurt karne ke liye kuch kar raha hai toh phaad ke rakh dunga. Itne tukdo mein phaadenge ki tera baap tujhe samet bhi nahi paayega.” Veer growled. Nikhil pushed Veer and punched him.

“Aae…” Daksh moved but Tapish stopped him.

Veer turned and punched Nikhil on the face harder. He turned to kick him on the gut. He went further and elbowed him. Kicking him on the knee and made him fall down.

“Jo kaam ho nahi sakta tujhse kyu karta hai. Mujhe harana tere bass ki baat nahi.” Veer commented kneeling down to his level.

“Uss Shakura se teri biwi ne jaan bachayi thi warna kabka upar pohoch gaya hota.” Nikhil commented.

“You know what, tera baap bohot saari land properties khareedta hai na. Use bol ki land properties nahi tere liye dimaag khareede. You seem to have a scarcity of it. Go buy some brains.”

That broke out a fight between both of them. Mostly Veer beating the crap out of him.

“Last warning hai. Dekha main ki tu kaise Bani ko dekh raha tha. If you try anything with her. Main tujhe itna torture karunga ki tu agle 10 janam tak yaad rakhega.”

After that, the Singhania left Nikhil alone. Veer still didn’t beat him down badly. Nikhil felt his anger boiling in his blood. His jealousy had started to become hatred out of jealousy. He sighed and tried to return to his home.

“Veer tha?” Reyansh asked looking at his son.

“Hmmm…”

“Kaha tha tujhse. Adi-Naagin ke muh mat lag. Bekaar mein dushmani badha ke koi faayda nahi hai.”

Nikhil took a deep breath. He didn’t want to listen. He wanted the crown that Veer wore. The crown of being powerful. The need for power had poured into Nikhil. Markaat didn’t go down peacefully and leave the world with peace. He left Nikhil with the desire for power.

When has the blind desire for power gone right? Jay had done the same thing. Nikhil was going the same path. Veer himself had enjoyed the power but he didn’t desire what wasn’t his own. He never desired to take Markaat’s place until Markaat forced him to go that path by going outright against Bani and killing so many cheels.

As the evening fell, the Cheel caves had started to be filled by shapeshifter birds. Eagles, Hawks, Kites, Falcons, Vultures, Ospreys, and Owls. Veer was going to be crowned as the King of Cheels, Giddh, and Baaz. After Veer had defeated Markaat, the title had gone to him. Even the Giddhs had to admit to Veer as their king.

All the shapeshifter birds had taken their place around the seats. Veer loved the attention. When had he not liked the attention and being the strongest one in the crowd?

“Hum sabh yahan mile hai kyuki aaj se mera beta, Veer, saare cheel, giddh aur baaz ka raja hai.”

Veer arrived into the cave flying. He flew around the cave showing off his flying skills and acrobatics. The large opening on the roof flashing moonlight. Veer knew the drill. When someone was crowned to be the most powerful one among their kind, they were expected to display their power. A large number of raptor birds flew into the cave. All the birds flying in a circle around Veer once he put his foot on the ground. A testament that every single bird would listen to Veer. The whole scene was beautiful. Veer pulled out his wings. The birds gave a call at that. The sky crackled with thunder and lightning. Wind going really fast around the cave.

The rest of the icchadhari kind had never seen anyone who had that ability to control all the birds and the sky like that. None of them were that capable to control elements of nature like that. They had only known of Garud who could control all the bird species in the world. They grabbed on the railing nearby with how fast the wind was flying around. If the wind blew even 1 km/hr faster than how fast it was right now, it would be called a storm. The birds flew without a problem at all. The fast-blowing wind wasn’t bothering them. One by one, in the most planned manner, the birds flew down and took their place around the throne. Veer flew down and sat on the throne.

“Aaj se mera beta, Veer, saare icchadhari cheel, giddh aur baaz ka raja hai.” Balwant announced. A crown was placed on Veer’s head. With that, everyone started to party. The party had taken a crazy route. Tapish, Veer, Sam, Daksh, and Ponky were really drunk by the time it was over.

Somehow, Balwant and Pawan managed to get three of them back home.

“Nahi… mujhe nahi jana hai ghar.” Sam refused to enter the mansion.

“Sam, kya karega phir? Puri chadi hui hai tujhe.” Pawan tried to tell Sam.

“Main soch raha hun ki main V ke ghar jaata hun.” Sam explained.

“Itni raat ko?”

“Uncle…” Meera showed up.

“Meera?!” Veer asked laughing. Meera realized that they were really drunk.

“Bohot zyaada pi li hai dono ne.”

Sam still had the gin bottle in his hand. He took a sip and passed to Veer. Veer took a drink and passed to Tapish.

“Mujhe lagta hai ki jitna hum gin banate hai usmein se 20% toh hum hi peete hai.” Tapish pointed out and laughed.

“Sweetheart!!!” Veer shouted. Veer was about to fall down but Tapish caught him. In the same way that Veer holds Bani when she is about to fall. Veer laughed. “Tapish bhai, main Meera nahi hun.”

Tapish let go of Veer and he fell down. Sam broke into laughter.

“Bani aur Vanshika dono yahan nahi. Dono hi Naaglok gaye hai. Unhe laga ki tum sabh aaoge hi nahi toh woh dono gaye hue hai apne ghar. Main bas ghar hi jaa rahi thi. Bani ka koi parcel yahan reh gaya tha. Usne kaha ki main aake le lun. Toh bas wahi lene aayi thi.” Meera answered.

“Toh phir jaate hai wahan.” Sam excitedly shouted.

“Pagal ho gaya hai? Naaglok jaayega?”

“Haan. Last time kya mazaa aaya tha.” Sam laughed remembering the way he had played hide and seek with Mayank. “Uske baap ke naak ke neeche se bhaga le gaya.” Sam grinned proudly.

“Let’s go.”

“What?” Meera asked, almost worried. Balwant and Pawan first took Daksh and Ponky inside.

“Chalo…” Tapish agreed.

“Tapish, suno. Tum sabh wahan kaise jaaoge? Aur tum kyu jaa rahe ho?” Meera asked. Tapish put his arm around Meera.

“Meeeraa…” He stretched her name, taking her ahead with them.

“Kahan jaa rahe ho. Suno… Ruko…” Meera tried to stop them but Tapish dragged her with them.

“Because we’re all bored. Also, dekhte toh hai kaisa lagta hai andar se.” Tapish answered laughing.

“Ek minute ruko yahan….” Veer flew up ahead into the mansion and brought out the ring. “Yeh dekho. This is the key to the door. Ring key…”

“Sounds like Rinki.” Sam laughed.

“Oh that song Ringkiya ke papa…” Tapish agreed. The boys sang a bit of it. A few people passed them.

“I’m so sorry.” Meera apologized, extremely embarrassed.

“Sorry kis baat ki? We don’t apologize for having fun, Meeeeraaa… Aur tum na… main kya batau…”

“Main wahan nahi aa rahi. Kitne saanp honge. Meri behen Adi-naagin ho sakti hai par mujhe phir bhi saanpo se darr lagta hai.” Meera tried to tell him.

“Main hoon na. Main bacha lunga tumhe.” Tapish assured.

“Please, meri baat suno…” Meera tried to tell them. Veer opened the portal in the mid-road. Meera almost had a heart attack at that. “Veer, yeh beech rasta hai. Koi dekh lega…”

Not that it bothered the Singhanias. Tapish put his arm around Meera. Meera was looking around if there was anyone looking. She never realized when Tapish had taken her inside with them. The unpreparedness led to Meera falling on top of Tapish when the portal opened at Kashyap Manor. Tapish pushed her hair back, staring at her.

“Pssst… not that I want to disturb your romance but zara side mein kar lo. Yahan main gate ke saamne doesn’t look good. Especially jab yeh mere aur Veer bhai ka sasural hai.” Sam pointed out. The boys laughed.

Meera was having a huge heart attack. One, she was in Naaglok which was home of serpents. Two, the boys were drunk.

“Suno… suno… wapas chalte hai. This is- Kya kar rahe ho??” Meera ran her hands through her hair. Sam and Veer climbed up the boundary gate. Veer fell down while trying to get down the gate. He laughed at that. After that, Tapish climbed up. He gave Meera a hand.

“Come come… Daro mat. Tum giro isse pehle main pakad lunga.” Tapish winked at her. Meera didn’t know why she was breaking into the house of icchadhari naag naagins.

Sam and Veer went over around the other side. They started climbing up the pipe to the window to the rooms that belonged to Vanshika and Bani respectively. Meera was almost going to die of embarrassment if they were caught right now.

“Sam, Veer, neeche aao. Pagal ho kya aise chad rahe ho deewaro pe?” Meera scolded them.

“I agree with Meera. Ullu udd bhi toh sakte ho na…” Tapish said in a condescending tone. Wondering why his brothers were so daft. “Bhagwaan ne pankh diye hai toh udo na…”

Meera turned to look at Tapish. What was wrong with him? The generally well-behaved brother was now giving them tips.

“What if we fly unbalanced and knockdown something?” Sam asked.

“Climbing drunk could result in you knocking down yourself,” Tapish commented dryly.

“Toh aap kya karoge? Doorbell bajaoge?” Veer asked. Tapish rolled his eyes at his stupid brothers.

“Tum dekho.” Tapish walked ahead towards the main door of the mansion. Meera got scared thinking he was actually going to ring the doorbell. He turned to Meera and looked at him carefully.

“Kya hua?” She asked, feeling a bit self-conscious. Tapish pulled out a hairpin from her hair. He then proceeded to pick the lock.

“Dekho nahi khulega. Yeh normal earth nahi hai kia am tarah ke locks ho. They’re special locks. We can’t pick them using -” Meera was cut off by his grin when the door opened. Tapish opened his arms.

“Thank you. Thank you. Mujhe pata hai main amazing hun. Meri itni tareef bhi mat karo…” Tapish laughed.

“Sshhh…” Meera put a hand on his mouth. The two entered the house and closed the door behind them. The lights were put off since it was late at night and lights weren’t needed. Tapish walked inside the Manor. Meera, almost like a deer in headlights, followed him.

Tapish saw Mayank walk down. He pulled Meera in a corner and put a hand on her mouth.

“Ssshhh… Mayank…” Tapish pointed out. Meera’s heart was bursting out with how close Tapish was to her. She could smell his Guerlin perfume. His blazer was already gone. His shirt unbuttoned till his torso. Sleeves rolled above his elbow. His hair was a bit messy now. Even in a drunken state, Tapish was dressed in perfection. There wasn’t anything out of place. Like the tie was gone instead of loosening up. The blazer was gone rather than slung over his shoulder improperly. His sleeves were rolled up in a proper way. The number of buttons that were unbuttoned was the same as those buttoned. Meera could almost feel the heat off his chest. She was sandwiched between Tapish and the wall behind her. The walls were cool and Tapish was warm.

Mayank looked around. Why was he hearing such a fast heartbeat? Tapish saw Mayank looking suspicious. He then looked at Meera.

“Can you calm down your heartbeat? Use sunai de raha hai.” Tapish told her.

“Why does it have to be mine? Tumhari bhi toh ho sakti hai.”

“Because I’m drunk Meera. I’m not worried. You, on the other hand, have a heartbeat racing faster than a cheetah.”

Meera tried to calm down herself.

“Waise I know a way to calm you down.” Tapish had a grin on her face.

“Kya?” Meera didn’t realize the suggestion. He kissed her. That took her by surprise. Tapish was a bit taller than her. He pulled away after a moment and looked at her.

“Abh thoda normal ho raha hai.” Tapish pointed out. Meera blushed red. She thanked God that it was dark and he couldn’t see how red her face was. There went her first kiss and the guy was drunk.

“Kuch toh hai….” Mayank still doubted someone was there. He could smell Guerlain perfume. It could be Amar’s. But an odd feeling in his chest was saying something was going on.

Veer had climbed up to Bani’s window. The window was left open to let the cool air come in. She had gotten used to Cheel Mansion’s cool air flowing in the room, cooling it and blankets keeping her warm. Now, she couldn’t fall asleep without the fresh cool air. Hence, she left the window open. Veer climbed inside the room. He watched his sweetheart sleep. He walked up to her.

“Sweetheart…” Veer pushed the hair that came on her face. Bani woke up and saw Veer.

“Veeranshu?!!!” She exclaimed. Veer put a hand on her mouth.

“Ssshhh… zor se mat chillao. But haan main hi hun.”

“Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho? Yahan aaye bhi kaise?”

He showed her the ring. Bani put her hand on her forehead.

“Ek minute, tum khidki se aaye ho?” Bani asked.

“Haan.”

“Tumhe kuch zyaada hi chad gayi hai.” She realized with his sloppy tone.

“Sweetheart, chaand ki khoobsurat chaandni hai. Tum ho aur main hun. Waise sharab ka nasha toh hai par usse zyaada tumhare pyaar ka chadha hai. Kabhi utarta hi nahi hai.” Veer winked at her. Veer brushed her hair with his hand and looked at her with a lovesick expression. Bani just couldn’t say anything to him while he stared at her like that.

“Veeranshu, itni chadi hui hai aur pipes pe se chadh rahe the. Gir jaate toh?”

“Tumhare pyaar mein pehle hi gir chuka hun. Abh chadte hue gir bhi gaya toh kise fark padta hai? Who gives a damn?”

“I do. Haddiyan toot jaati tumhari.”

“Waise dard ho raha hai…”

“What? Kahan?” Bani almost got worried. Did he hurt himself somewhere? Veer put her hand on his chest over his heart.

“Yahan… tum yahan chali aayi. Pata hai kitna miss kiya maine tumhe.”

Bani shook her head. She made him sit.

“Abh aa hi gaye toh please chup ho jaao aur so jaao.” Bani made him sleep on her bed. Veer pulled her over him.

“I don’t want to sleep. Main yahan itni dur romance karne aaya tha. Sone nahi.” He kissed her neck.

“Veeranshu….” Bani tried to complain.

“See. Last time tumne offer kiya tha ki main tumhare nashe mein hone ka fayda utha sakta hun. Iss baar main offer kar raha hun.”

“Ssshh… kitna baat karte ho. Please so jaao.”

“Nah… nahi sona.”

Veer flipped her around and was on top of her.

“Ek toh I love the way you smell. Lemon shampoo. That earthy smell.” He inhaled her scent from her neck. Bani pushed off his jacket. Veer pulled his hands from the sleeves. Using her coils, Bani took off his shoes.

“Kuch khaaya hai tumne?”

“Nahi…” She made him lie down and got up.

“Ummm… mujhe chodke jaa rahi ho, Baaanni…” Bani chuckled.

“Silly, I’m not leaving you and going. Kuch khaane ke liye laa rahi hun.”

Veer pulled her and she fell over him.

“How about I eat you?”

He bit her shoulder softly. Not the harsh biting but the sexual kind. Bani laughed. It was the exact thing she had done on her birthday.

Veer bit his lips while looking at her lips.

“Alright, Cheelu baby. Abhi so jaao.” She chuckled.

“Uffff….” Veer fell back on the bed with a goofy smile. Bani looked at him with a smile. Was there ever a time her husband didn’t look amazing? “Kitna sweet lagta hai. Bas main khatam ho gaya…”

She chuckled. He looked at her. He sat up and held her jaw. He then kissed her lips.

Vanshika couldn't believe a drunk-to-the-bone Samrat Singhania was in her bedroom. Her childhood bedroom.

"Ohh... yeh toh wahi photo hai na. From our As You Like It play?"Sam asked.

"Haan. Samrat, sach mein please so jaao. Ek toh dad yahi hai. Tum yahan mere room mein chori chupe ghuse ho woh bhi window se. Dad hum dono ko maar denge."

"Ek baat batao. Yeh tumhara baap hai kya principal? Itna darti ho."

"Darti hun kyuki woh mera baap hai. Mazak nahi hai."

"That's why you're so scared to admit you like me. Puri zindagi dar dar ke bita di. Bachpan mein you wanted to impress him now you're scared of him. V, you're 25 years old. Can't possible be unsure of your own decisions. Hum dono ko pata hai you can't marry any stranger."

Vanshika smiled and pushed her hair back. The smile of the memory of her time with Samrat. There was an odd kind of relationship they had. They considered each other enemies. Or atleast acted that way but then they also trusted each other. After her teenage boyfriend had cheated on her, Sam had taken her to an ice-cream shop. The two had eaten four tubs of ice-cream, watched a movie and went shopping to lift her spirits. When Sam had lost a football match due to a mistake on his teammate's part. Vanshika's then boyfriend was on the team with Sam. He didn't want Sam to be the player of the match out of jealousy of how Sam and Vanshika were. That made them lose an important goal. Sam was really upset. Vanshika had gone to the Game Zone with him to cheer him up and the two had gone skating after that. They ate at McDonald's together. Having a french fries competition.

Vanshika knew Sam really well and Sam knew her. They had seen each other's childhood phases. Sam was the first one who saw her Naagin form. She hadn't even seen herself in her Naagin form. He was the first one to see her. Her scales resembled a bush viper.

"Sahi toh hai. I am scared of him. It is just there. Bachpan ka woh darr gaya nahi."

"You know, kabhi kabhi apne dil ki sun leni chahiye. Kabh tak chupaogi. Tumhe pata hai. Mujhe pata hai. This tension we have between us goes long back."

"Since that first kiss," Vanshika answered. The two had been each other's first kiss. 13 years old. It was a raging teenage hormonal time. She looked at him. He was wearing a low-neck t-shirt with a denim jacket. All through their schooling, it had been there between each other. No matter what occurred between them, they always ended up around each other.

"Waise toh you're a wild child but tumhara baap saamne aa jaaye toh tum pata nahi kaise domesticated ho jaati ho? So tamed."

"Snakes cannot be tamed, Samrat Singhania."

Sam made her stand before the mirror and made her look at herself. He was standing right behind him.

"That is a tamed snake. The one too scared to do anything. Like Rock pythons. Jab tak muh meh na aaye khana, shikaar hi nahi karte. Ambush hunting is one thing but that kind of hunting is just lazy hunting."

"Excuse me. That is insulting. I'm a Viper. Not some python."

He turned her around and made her open her mouth. Looking at her canine teeth. "Are those called fangs?"

Vanshika broke into laughter.

"Haan. Vampire jaise it also had venom which can kill people. The only thing is, usse koi undead nahi ban sakta. They're just dead." Vanshika did the gesture.

"But seriously, insaani form mein bhi hota hai?"

"Nahi..." Vanshika shoved him. Sam took off his jacket and threw it off.

"Kya garmi lag rahi hai...." He complained and took off his shirt. It revealed his well-built chest. There was one tattoo almost close to his pelvis. It went from the height of belly button and disappeared in his pants. Vanshika remembered that tattoo. It was a Viper. The two had gotten really drunk once. She had an eagle tattooed and he had a Viper tattooed.

"I know main bohot hot hun par itni gandi nazar se dekhogi toh mere dil mein kuch kuch hoga."

Sorry for troubling you with all the requests for new chapters..but my dear author..for many of us..this ff is the real n5 now. I loved how veer isn't power hungry but I'm not liking that loser nikhils plans..I hope veer punishes him in such a way that no one will ever try of even thinking to lay a finger on veers family. Ballu bani bonding is so sweet. Drunk singhania brothers breaking into their sasural was FANTASTIC👏👏👏👏👏. liked how carefree tapish bhai was..meera needed that..tapeera scenes were 💕💕💕💕. Sam vanshika scenes were good but no one can beat vanj when it comes to sizzling chemistry..drunk veer is adorable..loved their scenes in banis room..😍😍😍😍. Can't wait for more vani scenes and romance.

Amazing update. 👏

Loved it when Veer did the last rites of markaat 😊

I think Nikhil lost his mind when he lost his throne.

Anyways waiting for his plots and plans , and how Vani teaches him lesson. And a fierce face off between them and Nikhil. 😆

The entire crazy drunken boys intruding into their in laws house 🤣

Poor Bani😒 , though she tries to defend her Meera di and her stupid sisters - Mahek and Dehek. The boys would end up teasing her. 🤪

She really doesn’t have much support in her family compared to Veer , when it comes to teasing . Poor Bani.😕

And the combo of Bani and Balwant Singhania was so.

The cute yet meaningful fight between Vani. 👍🏼

The face off between Shakura , Bani & Singhanias were just Mind blowing. 👏

And Bani’s Tandav and her emotions were beautifully written. 😳

Waiting to know what is going to happen in Banis house with these Drunken boys. 🤣

Poor Meera is stuck with this not so good drunken Tapish now. 😆

Your story is my stress buster , love to read anytime .⭐️

Sorry for not commenting for few days , coz now it’s Exam season , so kinda busy with exams and preparations. 😊

Waiting for the next chapters eagerly 😃
