Being smooth- he has been smooth in certain scenarios in past regarding bela, those were the situations where he was in control and anticipated particular reactions. He is especially smooth when he outsmarts or shocks bela with his actions.

When the control over the scenarios is snatched away from him or he isn't solely controlling the circumstances he generally takes time to process. His reflexes become sluggishly cute.

Last night he didn't comment on the kiss because
1. He wasn't expecting her to come to the bed. Which was a very big deal for him and he perfectly understands it is a even bigger deal for bela, to put herself and her feelings at display like that.
2. He was momentarily shocked by this and before he could comprehend it, before he could make light of this obviously very potential moment in their lives, she further proceeds to knock him off by kissing him!
3. By the time he could bring back the equilibrium of his mind amongst shock, happiness, elation, desire, vulnerability, impulses, desires and uninhibited joy, few stronger emotions won the battle and took over him!
4. And honestly that kiss itself was full stop. It was an inference and conclusion both in one. That didn't warrant any reply.
