As for Mohan's belief on cactus being accustomed to next to no care, and having thorns to keep concerns and people away - what a perfect parallel! For someone who is a compulsive softie like him, the cactus metaphor still makes so much sense because he does keep people at bay. Not like angry young boss, but just with his disdain and cynicism. All the way from the initial episodes when he told Guru the house was perfect because there was peace and no children! And then more recently when he said he likes quiet evenings his books and music and "shaanti" - Mohan, like all cynics, is strictly territorial in some very bachelor cum seen enough of life ways...
Oh Pallo's been gone too?! Can I be oh-so-modest-not and imagine how much you must have missed the gush-mates! 😆 😆 LOL yes you guys were very very much missed...but dil pe patthar rakh ke I survived this week somehow *sniffs*😛😆
Dude - the cactus symbolism was epic. I just love how the CVs (like Gulaal's, might I add?) seem to remember all the tiny details and props, to make use of them multiple times, in multiple ways. When the cactus first showed up, it was an expression of Megha's exceptional treatment and attitude for Mohan's sake - the side of her no one, or rarely anyone is exposed to. In the second innings, the cactus becomes symbolic of Mohan's own character and how credibly! Megha's further assertion of it's potential to flower, and her effort to make it happen even if in a patronizing and shaking head manner is a perfect fit! AWESOME point👏...yes exactly the writers floored me with how well they EVOLVED the symbolism of the cactus...initially it was to show Megha's disdain for Mohan...but look at her now...SHE'S the very person WATERING it...NURTURING it...that SYMBOL of what she thinks Mohan is...prickly and khadoos...and then she herself is talking of patience bearing fruit...or flowers in this case...while Mohan scoffs at that and shows skepticism for her theory.
I would LOVE it if the writers tied this in further along the story too and actually show that cactus blooming one day as the changes happen in Mohan too.
btw that reminds me...didn't Mohan ask Guru to buy some flower pots for their house? Uska kya hua? Did Guru actually ever buy those? Kyunki uska matlab hua ki phool ek sense mein toh kahin khil hi rahe hain...chaahe abhi cactus pe nahin😆

WORD on everything you've said Anu.
Would just like to comment on two things:1) I thought that the symbolism for cactus applied to Megha instead of Mohan ... Megha being a cactus, prickly (at least towards Mohan), aloof (she's with everyone, and yet she's alone without Amar's presence in her life), thriving even in the driest places of the earth (like her in-laws place). Cacti do what they can to survive. And I thought Mohan symbolizes water that empowers even a prickly plant like cactus to bloom into flowers. With Megha watering the cactus herself, symbolizing Megha's reluctant acceptance of Mohan in her life. ... or may I am over thinking too much as well 😆2) Mohan's challenging laugh directed towards Prateek when he subtlety warns him that he will telltale to Prerna if he tries to makes inappropriate advances towards Megha. That was Mohan at one of his best... It wasn't a dil-kullaas hasi ... it was a defiant one ...whereas Megha's was an approving one... leaving Prateek frustrated. I watched the last scene 2-3 times. Kunal is truly living his role as Mohan.
