Round 2: Udit Narayan

nicely sung by Udit Narayan. however, for me there is nothing extra-ordinary here in terms of singing. its an easier song to sing. the slow parts and lower-notes of the song seemed too faded out to me. its basically the beat that keeps you going. i would like to give an 8 out of 10 to this song.

I dont like this song at all. Cant give more than 7.

There is nothing much we can do about the songs selected by the Contest Director.

but I agree that in most competitions song selection plays an important part.

Chand Chupa Badal Mein would have been a better choice but it does not matter as the competition is just for members to have fun.

Well there are some better ones that I know that I'm saving for tougher rounds for Udit, however, Chand Chupa is from 1999 so it's not even elgibile for the 2000s round, thats why I couldn't do it.

But if i dont get many reccomendations on what songs to choose, I just have to pick 1.

Well I can't help it. In my case, as you would have seen till now, the song is very important. I am not qualified enough to judge these great singers otherwise😳. I just give my marks on the basis of how i like the song overall- lyrics, feel, voice quality etc.

Very right, summer3 - scores are meant to be given in the basis of how much u like the singing and, as risingabove as specifically stated, NOT on how much u like the song.

Risingabove - I'll send u a good song suggestion if Uditji advances into the next round! :)

And since Chand Chhupa won't be part of this competition, I'll post it here for everyone to enjoy.

Ok let me just clear this up once and for all. Song selection is extremely important for this kind of competition. A mediocre song cannot and will not get great scores just because some people insist it has been sung brilliantly. I mean we have somone999 talking about bad lyrics, Annuji is always after the degree of difficulty and our very dear Himesh ji is always shouting and challenging if any other singer could have sung the song better than the original singer. I dont think any of these judgements are strictly conforming to the rules of the competition perse that state judge not the song but the way it has been sung. So, i ask why dont our esteemed judges ignore absurd lyrics or the relative simplicity of the song or whether anyone else could have sung it better. The answer is simple: all these things are important while judging a particular performance. Lyrics can enhance the beauty or feel of a song, the degree of difficulty needs to be addressed to make a fair call and also if no one else can sing it better it also is an important plus, however subjective it maybe. Similarly, likeabiliy is a critical factor. If one doesnt like a song it fails to make an impact and dilutes the overall quality of singing for the listener. So, after all that support to my argument (ala Himesh ji 😉) I will simply say that I judge the song in its entirety and score it straight from the heart. so, all you guyz just have to bear with me.😈

@saq if you think the judges have broken the rules then pls inform risingabove ... Woh judges ke bhi judge hain :)

As an audience member you are free to judge on whatever basis u prefer but the guidelines are to score the singing (and not to score the singer or the song) which I think you have done so thanks! :)
