Also, just wanted to remind everyone...when awarding playback singer of the year, how hit the song was, is definitely a criteria...Is that a good criteria?

Another reason why I don't like these awards. Yes popularity should is a factor but that doesn't mean you nominate Aamir Khan for 'Aati Kya Khandala' ahead of 'Satrangi Re'. Common man SSK...like HR says, saraswati maa ki kasam kha ke kaho is it right to nominate Aati Kya Khandala ahead of Satrangi Re just because of popularity? We are talking about Best Male Playback Singer Award here and not the Best Actor Award.

There are always some weird exceptions, but it's not like he won it, it was just a nomination, maybe for the fun of it. I don't think it was a universal nomination was it? But yeah, it didn't win it, it's just a nomination, maybe trying to get Aamir Khan to come to a award function, as you know kind of a thing for fun.

How convenient to just disregard everyone on the jury and their decision!
In that resepct, do you really think Alka Yagnik deserved all the 7 filmfare awards?

Well, I don't think there ever have been an award given, in the whole world, that everyone thought went to the deserving candidate.

Waah yaar waah. Kya reply diya hain aapne. There is seriously no point in arguing with you.
So now you are saying they did it for fun. Give me a break. Think about other singers who give their heart and soul just to get a nomination.
Theek hain chalo aap sahi ho apni jagah.
Aaj se meri bhi nayi theory hain:
In the same fun filmfare gave award to HR also in 2005. You know kind of a thing for fun.

Once again brahmabul you missed the main point. He got NOMINATED. He did not win the award. It's just a nomination. Something minor. Minor things can be done sometimes just for the fun of it. You know, maybe to attract Aamir to the award functions...

But this is just a "theory" and can be wrong obviously. I was just guessing. And the premise behind this theory is that it's a NOMINATION . Minor. If he had won the award, that would be a total different story.

First of all tell me who is the jury of these awards?
Secondly I don't judge a singer on the basis of awards. Alka ji may win 1 or she may win 7 awards. Its her singing, its her versatility which make her great. There are many great singers who are devoid of awards but its their work which make them great.

Well, I don't think there ever have been an award given, in the whole world, that everyone thought went to the deserving candidate.

Of course, this is true. There can be never be any consensus. Everyone supports their favourite. Then the same thing holds true for jury also. They can also have their favourite which makes them bias towards a particular singer.

But the fact remains that awards are being sought by almost everyone on the assumption that the jury is fair. It acts as a source of encouragement. I don't deny that. But my point of argument with ssk is you can not label some one as living legend or elite just on the basis of awards because these are not fair always.

Sorry SSK I don't think nominating is for fun. I remember you told in one of your post that Sunidhi Chauhan has said she waits for award each year.
Yes she said it, I know that. But the same Sunidhi Chauhan when asked that how does she feel when Shreya takes away almost every award. She said that its OK...atleast I get nominated each year, even that is a achievement. I think it was Vir Sanghvi's show. And its not only Sunidhi there are many celebrities who say this.
Aur please yaar aapne bhi aapne kuch posts mein kaha hain ki jeetna sirf imporant nahin even nomination is important. At least apni zubaan se mat peehche hato.
Yaar yeh koi reason nahin huya ki they do it for just for fun. Awards koi mazaak nahin hain. Doosra singer jisko award nahin milta socho usko kaisa feel hota haiga. Poori saal ki mehnat ke baad nomination milta hain.

Yes getting nominated is an achievement like I said before. But once again, that was just my theory of what possibly could have going on there. However, nominations are still minor and forgotten by the general public the next year, where as the award winners are remembered forever. This shows you the difference between a nomination and a award winner. Big difference.

So once again, nomination is great. But what are you suggesting on why Aamir got nominated? You think the award juries thought he was more deserving? Or were they doing something ffor a change once in a while....since it's a nomination and not an award winner? I thought the 2nd. If you disagree, okay.

But what does this have to do with anything anyways? I've argued that award winners are elite, not nominators. I haven't said anything about how I rank a nominatoin besides that it's a good acheivment.

So I really don't know what you are trying to prove here, because once again, I nominations are NOTHING in front of Award Winners. And Proving a point about a nomination gets you nowhere.

I cant believe u just said that yaar. Singers put so much khoon paseena into their renditions and an amateur is being nominated JUST FOR FUN???!!!?!??!
Trust me its not a cheesy cliche when nominees say "Its an honour to at least receive a nomination".
A nomination is not a minor thing. It makes a difference to their ROZI ROTI.... (A good e.g. would be A.R Rehman at the oscars)
(Although I do admit that nowadays there are some really retarded nominations e.g. Farhan for Rock On..... ummmm lets not even go there) It would certainly be nice if there would be nominations for singers as well as actors who actually, truly deserve it. At this rate, there should be a jury for appointing the jury.
