OK my next trivia question:

There is a song such that

1. It was composed by RD Burman
2. It is based on the favourite raga of one of the greatest composing duos of Bollywood
3. It had two versions: male and female

This is a very complicated question hehe... So another clue:

4. One of the singers (I'm not telling you if it's the male or the female!) won a Filmfare Award for this song.

Now, the question:

1. Name the composing duo and their favourite raga
2. Name this song (i.e. the song composed by RD Burman)
3. Name the singers

Good luck!

Hmm...lets see if I get this one...

1. Composing Duo - Shankar Jaikishan and their favourite raag Bhairavi
2. Song is Hamein Tumse Pyar Kitna from movie Kudrat
3. The singers are Kishore Da and Parveen Sultana who won the Filmfare

After the 'musical families' question, I'm initiating another easy trivia list. Lots of people should be able to add to this list...

Let's make a list of film soundtracks that have a lead male or lead female singer. By lead singer, I mean a singer who is used consistently throughount the soundtrack, usually as the voice of one of the characters in the movie.

  1. For example, in Devdas (2002), there were three lead singers, one for each of the three lead characters. Udit Narayan sang for Devdas (Shahrukh Khan), Kavita Krishnamurty for Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) and Shreya Ghoshal for Paro (Aishwarya Rai).
  2. And in Umrao Jaan (1981), Asha Bhosle was the voice of the title character.
  3. In the 2006 version of the same movie, Alka Yagnik was the voice of Umrao Jaan.
  4. In Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Lata Mangeshkar sang for the female lead, Suman, and SP Balasubramaniam sang for the male lead, Prem.

So our list till now is:

Movies with Particular Lead Singers

1. Devdas (Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurty, Shreya Ghoshal)
2. Umrao Jaan (1981) (Asha Bhosle)
3. Umrao Jaan (2006) (Alka Yagnik)
4. Maine Pyar Kiya (Lata Mangeshkar, SPB)

There are many more movies that could be added to this list - be sure to make your contribution! :)

Trivia about Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Udit Narayan was supposed to be the voice of Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) and Sonu Nigam was supposed to be the voice of Rohan (Hrithik Roshan). Alka Yagnik would sing for Kajol and Kareena.

This was OK until Karan Johar, the director, included a new song on the soundtrack. He had been in talks with Sandesh Shandilya (a guest composer for the soundtrack) and managed to procure the song 'Suraj hua Maddham' for the film. Sonu Nigam was deemed to be the right choice for the song and so he sang for Shahrukh, whilst Alka Yagnik sang for Kajol.

In the end, Sonu Nigam sang all of Hrithik's songs and one of Shahrukh's songs. Uditji could not claim to be the voice of Rahul any more!
