'Karzzz' Starcast Announcement Party

Bhushan Kumar's mega film "Karzzzz" was flagged off on 25th Jan '08 on the T-Series premises with a puja to introduce the entire star cast of the film.

Hosted by popular RJ and Anchor Siddharth Kannan, the event saw the presence of the original creator Subhash Ghai and the evergreen Rishi Kapoor himself, who shared their fond memories of the film and expressed their heartiest wishes to the present crew to make it an even bigger success. Also present to grace the occasion and seek the blessings of God and Subhash Ghai, were the cast and crew of the new film- Himesh Reshammiya, Debutante Shweta, Danny Denzongpa, Raj Babbar and Director Satish Kaushik, along with Mr. Bhushan Kumar, Mr. Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Tanya Kumar and Tulsi Kumar from T-Series. The stars started off the event with a small Pooja thanking God and went ahead to grace the stage and share their thoughts on the film.

Subhash Ghai considered it a proud moment that when Bhushan Kumar and Himesh approached him for the remake of this film. He said "It's a big compliment that they wish to bring the original film back to life." On the other hand, Rishi Kapoor who mesmerized everyone present said that he thoroughly enjoyed portraying Monty and he looks forward to the new Karzzzz.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Karzzzz is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1980 film about reincarnation. Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta will make her debut with Karzzzz and play the lead role of Tina Munim opposite Himesh Reshammiya who will don Rishi Kapoor's role for the same. Urmila Matondkar could not be present due to sickness.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film also stars Urmila Matondkar, Gulshan Grover, Danny Denzongpa , Rohini Hatangadi and Raj Babbar. Himesh Reshammiya also scores a hat trick by acting, singing and composing the music for the film!!!

The shooting is scheduled to commence from 10th February and the film will be shot in South Africa, Kenya and Mumbai.


T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original film ' Karz' directed by Subhash Ghai. The original film had a cast of Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim, Premnath amongst others and was a big success of the 80's.

Mumbai: T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar's mega film 'Karzzzz' was flagged off with a puja followed by the introduction of the entire star cast of the film on the T-Series premises. Hosted by popular RJ and anchor Siddharth Kannan, the event saw the presence of the original creator of 'Karz', Subhash Ghai and the film's star actor Rishi Kapoor sharing their fond memories of the 1980's film.

Also present to grace the occasion were the main lead Himesh Reshammiya and debutante Shweta (director Indra Kumar's daughter), Danny Denzongpa, Raj Babbar and
Director Satish Kaushik. Urmila Matondkar who also stars in the film was inconspicuous by her absence.

Karzzzz team is off to South Africa

After a long wait, Himesh Reshammiya [Images] has got a heroine for his second acting film, Karzzzz.

Director Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta will make her debut here, and will play Tina Munim's role from Subhash Ghai's [Images] 1980 original.

The team will leave for South Africa and Kenya for the film shoot, which starts on February 10.

Incidentally, Himesh had sought the blessings of Rishi Kapoor -- who starred in the first Karz -- and the actor gladly gave it at the event.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film also stars Urmila Matondkar [Images], Gulshan Grover [Images], Danny Denzongpa, Rohini Hatangadi and Raj Babbar.

Karz to be reincarnated as Himesh's Karzzzz

Mumbai: Aap Ka Suroor one of last year's biggest surprises and saw singer Himesh Reshammiya make his acting debut. The success of the film seems to have given a boost to Himesh's star status and he is ready with his next venture – a remake of the 70s hit Karz.

The unforgettable hit has already been given a salute of sorts in Shah Rukh's Om Shanti Om, but now, Karz is being officially remade by T-Series and Himesh Reshammiya, who will step into Rishi Kapoor's role of Monty.

With the support of the original Karz hero and Subhash Ghai, the remake is all set to roll in February.

As for the changes you can expect in the new age Karz, it starts with the spelling itself – it has not two not three, but four ZZZZs in the title - Karzzzz!

Explaining the title, singer and actor Himesh Reshammiya said, "I believe in numerology. It looks funny, yes, but Bhushan Kumar was gracious to agree, and therefore the film has begun on the right note."
