Beautifully written Sangs! For me personally music is a medium in which I live my dreams, let out my frustration and think about what life could be like. They say that music is a Universal Language. Truth be told, they say the same thing about Mathematics; however, not everybody understands math, whereas everybody understands music (no matter how besura you are! 😉). 😆 so true !!It is the medium in which you can see ones bare soul, feel ones emotions and hear ones joy or sorrow.
For me personally, one of the best aspects of a song are the lyrics, and more often than not I find myself noting the song lyrics that touch me the most. I generally listen to Hindi music, as I find it to be extremely diverse in its styling, but more meaningful in its lyrics. You can call me an emotional fool, but one song that almost guaranteed brings tears to my eyes is "Phoolon ka taro ka, sabka kehna hai, ek hazaaron mein, meri behena hain, saari umar humme sang rehna hain…" I, of course, think of my one and only sister when this song plays, and think of exactly what she means to me. Without her, my life would be totally different.. it wouldn't be worth living.
well said h 😛 music truely is a universal language says more than words at times....lyrics do play a inportant part definetly in the mood....i love the song phoolon ka taro ka sab ka kehna hai...
In terms of romantic songs, my faves include 'Jiya Dhadak Dhadak' (as you can probably tell by my siggy) and my alltime favorites 'Kabhi Kabhi' (Film: Kabhi Kabhie) (which I think almost everyone loves), 'Hum Bewafa Hargiz na the' (Film: Shalimar) (awesome lyrics here!), 'Ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar' (Film: Junglee), 'Tu Pyar Hai Kisi Aur Ka'(Film: Dil Hai ki Manta Nahin), ' and 'Suraj Hua Maddham' (Film: K3G). In regards to the last one, it's the lyrics that get me everytime.
Suraj hua maddham, Chaand jalne lagaa
Aasmaan yeh haye, kyun pighalne laga
Main thehra raha, zameen chalne lagi
Dhadka yeh dil, saans thamne lagi
Kya yeh mera pehle pehla pyar hai
Sajna kya yeh mera pehla pehla pyar hain
Hain khoobsurat yeh pal, Sab kuch raha hai badal
Sapne haqeeqat mein jo dhal rahe hain
Kya sadiyon se purana, hai rishta yeh humara
Ke jis tarah tumse hum mil rahe hain
Yunhi rahe har dum, pyar ka mausam
Yunhi milo humse, tum janam janam
Tere hi rang se yun main to rangeen hoon sanam
Paake tujhe khud se hi kho rahi hoon sanam
Oh mahiya, ve tere ishq mein
Haan dubke paar main ho rahi hoon sanam
Saagar hua pyaasa, raat dhalne lagi
Sholo ke dil mein bhi, aag jalne lagi
Main thehri rahi, zameen chalne lagi
Dhadka yeh dil, saans thamne lagi
Kya yeh mera pehla pehla pyar hai.
Sajna, kya yeh mera pehla pehla pyar hai..
I have found that my appreciation for music has come primarily from my father, whose vast collection of the golden oldies has turned me into a self proclaimed ace at antakshari. Not only that but my fondness for Jagjit Singh ghazals has stemmed from there too (My faves being 'Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho' and 'Hoshwalon Ko Khabar Kya') . I have not met too many girls (like me born and raised in the US), who appreciate his music as I do (not to say there isnt anyone.. I just havent met them yet!).
Yaar i love jagjit singh since i heard his album mitar pyare nu like you said alot of people do not like it have you heard that 😃i am from the uk but same thing really 😆
I think that music is what brings the world together, and although we may not understand one anothers language, we can always understands ones emotions through music, no matter what country you are from.
So true like i said above as well at times it says more than sometimes you can say...person choice of music says alot.
Awesome post Sangs! Thanks for this!
