A.R. Rahman Stuns! Release date fixed?

Ever since the audience heard AR Rehman's compositions in 'Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei', they have been eagerly awaiting the film's release

The year 2003 had been a fabulous one for AR Rehman. He has had three big hits this year- 'Boys', 'Yenakku 20 Unakku 18' and 'Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei'.

The film 'Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei' is a film wth a difference. After a long gap, Bharatiraaja is touching yet another favorite topic of his- Crime thriller.

'The story is different, so is the music'- this was Bharatiraaja's compliment to AR Rehman. He also said that Rehman had composed music that suits the film's story and also appeals to the younger crowd.

Bharatiraaja launches two good-lookers in the film- Vaseekaran and Priyamani.

The film had been postponed because Bharatiraaja had got involved in 'Eeranilam'. NOw, this film is ready too and was first scheduled to be released for Pongal, but, Bharatiraaja decided to avoid unnecessary competiton in the Pongal crowd with newcomers and has therefore postponed his film's release to January 26th.

Shankar and Rahman Breaking Away?

Looks like Tamil Cinema is going through the Autumn season. A lot of buddies who have been together heart and soul, are now departing. And now, there is hot talk about Shankar and Rahman being on this list!

From Gentleman, Shankar and Rahman, have till date given 6 musical hits, all vibrating with youth and color with the recent hit Boys which brought Rahman back to Tamil Cinema, both he and Shankar have been proving to be an excellent combination.

Well it is said that how Shankar first waved away Vairamuthu for Boys, he is now ready to do the same with Rahman. And Shankars close circles reveal that he has invited Harris Jayaraj for his next movie Robot, for whose music, Shankar seems to have just fallen flat.

Shankar and Rahman do not have any disagreeing terms or opinions. It is said that, as Rahman is almost throttled by his international projects, he is not able to concentrate on Tamil movies, and hence Shankar has taken this decision.

What do we do about Shankars decision? Worry or Rejoice?

AR Rehman's latest fan!

Guess who AR Rehman's latest fan is? The Secretary-General of the UN, Kofi Annan himself!

This is probably one of the proudest moments in Rehman's life. Kofi Annan is planning a musical event on the 3rd of December in New York. Rehman is going to be appointed as a special ambassador for the UN at the event.

The post requires that he be willing to offer his services at the moment's notice for the UN. AR Rehman has already given his consent to this.

'Dizzying heights' doesn't even closely describe what AR Rehman is climbing these days!

A.R.Rahman: The 'Id ka chand' reappears

His Andrew Lloyd Webber stint seemed to have Rahman so completely engrossed that he was hardly seen in local climes like Chennai. But the upbeat sales of his latest songs for Kadhir's Kaadhal Virus seem to have inspired him with affection for the land of Tamils once again. Recently, Rahman has graced public functions like shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan's concert in Chennai for the Amir Khusro Academy of music, where he personally felicitated the great Bismillah. With Kaadhal Virus facing competition from the Harris Jayaraj track of Laysa Laysa, and Sriram Parasuram, husband of 'O Podu' girl Anuradha Sriram emerging as a music director, it is time Rahman returned to reclaim some lost ground in Tamil filmdom. If rumours are to be believed, his family life too, stands in need of attention.
