I walked on the soft grassy carpet that was laid out for me
I skipped and ran for I was feeling so free and happy
I raced on carried forth by the winds so carefree
Where the leaves shivered and flowers bobbed on the tree.
I came to a small waterpool and took in the scene with a gasp
So breathtaking, so serene, my mind the wonder did grasp
Silently the dragonflies zigzagged across the water still
I stood there mesmerised by the stone wall taking my fill.
The bushes bore every shade of green and covered every rock
Weeds dipped their toes in the pool as they stood in a flock
The pink, the violet and the yellow flowers seemed to mock
As I watched the scene half hynotised and half in shock.
Who was the painter of this marvellous picture that I saw?
Who was he ... this unknown and how had he managed to draw?
So easily and so casually with a few strokes of his hand
Was this indeed Heaven which we call the promised land?
