Oh my god what a superb discussion going on👏..Got to know many facts about the story😳..
Woww in no time this forum has become one of the most active forums in Colors Section😛...
This shows that the serial is getting popularity every passing day👏..Raj-Kranti r here to rock now and give tough competition to other Jodis on screen😛
but the only thing sinse its set in 1942 with the freedom struggle as the backdrop..I doubt how much intimacy we will get to see once they fall in love😔

I wouldn't care for them to become a regular jodi. Sorry about that. 😳 I like this serial because of its battle of wits with a dash of romance and minimum mush. Once it gets humdrum, I guess I'm out of here.

Skepti what u said is very true..and this was the reason why I got hooked on to this show because it does not comprise of those mushy romance, complex relationships,saas-bahu angles and multiple marriage tracks..
With on-screen jodi I meant,a Jodi which can rock the small screen with their uniqueness😳

Trying to compare the two, and I am damn bad at that but still giving it a try.

I read Fountainhead some six years or so ago, at that time found it quite inspiring and I was all set to create a mark on this world--but it never happened that is another story 😆 😆😆. My memory cells do not last long, so cannot go in the details lest I give an incorrect account'and I no longer remember if Roark became my dream man'but I loved Roark's individualism, conviction and the belief in his own ability.

Same with Dominique, in spite of all her flaws, she was one strong female, and I love and admire the trait of strength in both women and men. That is my fondness for the character like Kranti, who does sit in a room crying over her misery. For me, at present, character of Raj does not have that streak.

I believe that two people of equal energy make a happy life, and in most of the cases it does not happen, thus the confusion in a relationship. These Fountainhead characters were people of equal energies, and even they knew it.

Here, in the RK story, I agree, both are attracted to each other and are of equal energies. Once they recognize the fact, it will be fireworks, but at present they are oblivious to it.

On the third level, Fountainhead is also a fight between two ideologies, a capitalist mind and a communist mind. Though in the book this fight is between Roark and Toohey, in MRD, one can also see an ideological fight between R and K.

One believes in freedom for the nation and giving power to the locals, other is of the staunch belief that inhabitants do not have the acumen to rule thus we are better off by outsourcing that work to the Britishers.

...............

Today, I am not sure, if I can read it again as have moved to other stories. And, MD and Nupur, most of literature purist, find Fountainhead a substandard work. But, one cannot deny that it has inspired millions of individuals and keep doing so even today'(though for a short period in case like me'may be I need to read it again 😃)

Have you read Atlas Shrugged'there are three male protagonists almost equally strong, and a female that all three loved.

Brilliantly put An.. and yes, I agree with you. Its not a purist's book. In fact it was rejected by twelve publishers, before the last one approved it. He said to his publication house, " If this book is not for you, I am not the editor for you. "
Fountainhead is a book strictly meant to be read while you are a teenager, this would be when it influences you most.. it doesnt shape your life, or its not that you start following it, but it leaves an everlasting impression.
It is a much stronger book than MRD.. this show has just taken some leaves out of it.. but then the book is so strong, even if you imbibe a small percentage of it, it makes an impression.
An, I believe Raj is as strong a man, as Kranti is, as a woman. Just because he leads a cushioned life style, and is blindly following the Lt Gov'nor's diktats, doesnt make him weak. He has his own strength of character.. we just dont relate to it, because its not the one in our favor. We empathise with Kranti, not with Raj.
And ya, before I forgot.. I picked up Atlas Shrugged after having finished Fountainhead..and it never made as strong an impact, as FH did. I just know the names John Galt and Dagny Taggart. Cud never capture the essence of the story. But I love the famous speech. 😊

Aweosme you guys.....
Numero Loved your take on it and MD loving this post!!!👍🏼
People have different optional values, they acquire new values as part of living, and that often affects what and how they respond to works of art or particular ideas..........
That said......I can honestly say I loved Both The Fountian head and Atlas Shrugged!
Hard to pick a favorite!
I would say that Fountainhead is many times better than Atlas Shrugged, since it is actually a novel!
Whereas AS is more of a fiction-nonfiction hybrid.
A book which contains dozens of philosophical tracts often longer than a page cannot be classed as 'fiction' in the sense that the term is normally used...........
As a work of philosophy however, AS is obviously far superior (although I do think that Galt's speech is far too indepth and long to be proper for inclusion in a piece of literature, and far too simplistic and unscholarly to stand-alone as a work of philosophy.)
One can read Atlas from the perspective of its literary role: as the epitome of the Romantic novel, in relation to Hugo, etc.
But one can totally get gung ho about Roark's struggle and pain his apssion & obsession in resisting the agony of not having Dominique choose him for so many years.
As Ayn Rand herself had said...."To all the readers who discovered The Fountainhead and asked me many questions about the wider application of its ideas, I want to say that I am answering these questions in the present novel and that The Fountainhead was only an overture to Atlas Shrugged."
As literature, Atlas Shrugged has no match. It's the sort of book that makes you feel like you'll never need (for guidance or inspiration) another book again. That is what literature is for, isn't it?
It's sort of a handbook for life.
Where it differs from The Fountainhead is in the direct applicability of its ideas to everyday life and that is how it was obviously meant to be.

👏👏👏 That was a beautiful synopsis and comparison of the two books nupur..

Somehow I never found AS interesting.. FH had too much of a halo effect, maybe if I had read AS first..
My attn used to keep drifting whenever I sat down to read it, and after a while, I just gave up.

Nupur & MD,

Read Atlas Shrugged after Fountainhead. I usually skip the pages where there is too much lecturing going on, did skip those long lectures of AS also. Have too much thoughts of my own that I cannot accommodate something not mine ... 😆😆😆

The only thing, I remember, I am still in love with the character of AS, Francisco De Anconia, now more for his unusual name. 😃. and remember the punch line of the book, Who is John Galt.

Most of Ayn Rand books have this anti-communism ideology, that is why you can see the stress on individual and respect for their creativity and thoughts. She had fled the then Soviet regime to settle down in U.S.

As I have moved on to other books, these two are like, I have read them. I wish someday, I can write about a book the way Nupur and MD write about them.
