"The greatest pleasure in life is to love and to be loved.."
Mere haath me.. is an extremely romantic song and not many actors, especially on television, can carry it off convincingly. Add to that some far from alluring costumes and an eternal struggle for run time - the task gets even more difficult. But despite everything, Arjun and Rati were so par excellence in their portrayal of the characters that the task ceased being a task at all. Mere haath me seemed to me a love story straight out of a fairy tale; the kind of love that lasts eternally and never dies out... After what seems like eons, I am presently in the kind of mindset that almost allows me to forgive all the flaws in MN's track. Well, this may be a beginning! 😉You stole the words right outta my mouth... This is exactly what I was thinking after watching the episode... I am willing to overlook all the flaws in their track cuz it finally seems to be coming back on the right path and hopefully it will stay now..
My favourite parts:
* The beginning of the verse - mere haath me - I thought Arjun was brilliant there. The choreography given to Mayank could have been a little better but with whatever they had Arjun did do a brilliant job
* The scene when both are at the makeshift balcony - Rati gets phenomenal by the minute. She was S-U-P-E-R-B. This girl need to be in bollywood.. its like you said she is just SUPERB in every single scene even if it has the cheeziest dialogues and choreography ever..
* The hug - its beyond description or dissection. Mayank was initially surprised and then so clearly ecstatic about Nupur probably reciprocating his feelings. How tightly he hugged her, and she did too, seemed to foretell how they would never let each other go.. This was clearly the best part of today's episode.. The hesitation he had initially and then the realization that it is actually Nupur and not Isha who is hugging him. The expressions on their faces were just out of this world. They took a very simple overdone scene to a whole new level.
* Mayank confronting himself about how things were unpredictable for the first time in his planned life. It said so much about Mayank as a person and to me, it justified so much as well. Mayank tried out those theories on Nupur only to keep his life planned.. he tried to carry over the values he put in his work to his love as well.. but Mayank finally knows that love doesn't work that way. Finally Mayank is back in character.. Instead of smirking and mouthing off cheezy dialogues to himself, he actually spoke something that made sense and something that Mayank would do. And him running behind Nupur just showed that that is exactly what "old" Mayank would do in this situation... Trying to see if she was okay regardless of the fight.
* Nupur thinking about why she had hugged Mayank. Rati does everything so well - I could feel Nupur's pain and confusion. Sheer brilliance! The best part about this scene was in the very end where she shuts her eyes.. It almost seemed like she just wants to take that piece of her heart that keeps thinking of Mayank and throw it out but she is unable to do so... and every time she closes her eyes she still thinks of Mayank..
What I did not like:
* Putting Sajan in the song for such meaningful lines was a bad idea, in my opinion. It did affect the pace and the impact of the scene and was totally uncalled for. Oh well. In PD's words editing of intercutting between scenes is supposed to pace up the scene. I guess the creatives just don't see how it takes away the intensity of a passionate scene when u paste in other stuff there. Editing has always been a major problem with this show.
On the whole, Fanaa was magical. I like to dwell on what is rather than what could have been. And at present, love is all there is. Things like reasons, build ups, logic and clothes have ceased to exist.. at least for a while. 😃 I actually even liked Nupur's outfit today. It really suited her. The logic stuff yeah I guess we can't change what we have now. We can hope from hereon, they will not go off track with Mayur. I hope the confession is subtle and something only for Nupur to understand rather than a cliche' scene with Mayank going extreme DTPH stye..
