Chapter 3 : A little to close to home

Ranveer and Harshad who had arrived at the police station , met sergeant Arjun who was Harshad's partner. " I am sorry that you guys had to leave the party"

"Now that we are here , tell us about the case ?" said Ranveer who was at hurry he wanted to get done with this fast as possible . After all it was Ishani's engagement party and he wanted to bee there for her every step on the way, but that was not possible right now.

"Priya Pallavi was killed in her home, by a single shot in the chest.Her daughter called us and said that and claimed that she killed her mother in cold blood." explained Arjun.

"But you dont think she is telling the whole truth, you think she is covering up for someone."stated Harshad.

"Yes, but not likely as you think. I do think that she has killed her mother , but the evidence points towards that she killed her mother and it also suggest it was in self - defense .'said Arjun.

"She was protecting herself " said Ranveer and one could notice that the atmosphere in the room had changed dramatic.

"Yes , but we don't have enough evidence to support self- defense , if she is not willing to testify for it." explained Harshad to Ranveer.

Ranveer knew exactly what to do in this kind of situation.The whole case was hitting to a little to close home for him, and it felt uncomfortable. He knew he could connect to this girl who had her whole life in front of her ; he could help her to help herself. At the end of the day that was more important than his fears, he just had to man up and meet those demons.

"Where is she now?" said Ranveer which shifted his attention towards Arjun.

" She is in the interrogation rom, but why do you ask ?" answered a confuse Arjun.Ranveer never responded to his question, but went quietly into the interrogation rom, his hearth beating against his chest.

"What the hell is he doing ?" questioned Arjun. Harshad who had understod what Ranveer was going to do , decided to go there as well to show his support. Just like Ranveer he also went to the interrogation rom without answering his partner.

In that moment Ishani reached the police station, the first person she saw was her father's partner. She hurried towards him, and before she could say anything the sergeant showed her the screen where you could see what was happening in the interrogation. She could see a young girl her father and Ranveer all three sitting in the room.

Ranveer studied the little girl who sat opposite him; she had a bruise on the left side of the face. He opened the folder Harshad had brought inn, what he saw in the folder made him sick. He took his eyes off the folder and directed it towards her again.

"My name is Ranveer , and the man sitting beside me is sergeant Harshad, I am not a police officer yet my training is not completely done. But I am allowed to assist on some cases. " explained Ranveer to the girl. The girl continued to look at her shoes, but that did not stop Ranveer ".


" I want to become a cop , because I want to help people. Fight for those who don't know their rights. Women and children, who are being abuse every day, deserve to know that they deserve more than that. They have more value than they think. You Alia have more value than you think, you deserve more than you ever been told. I am going to fight for you, but to do that you have to help me .


Alia looked at him, and then turned her eyes back to the shoes. "How did you get that bruise, Alia ?" asked Ranveer , care clear in his voice. Alia muttered something in reply, but Ranveer was not one of those who give up so easily.

" I'm sorry what was that ?" Questioned Ranveer

"I said I fell" Alia said, one could hear clearly from her voice that she was annoyed. Ranveer in return gave her a smile and said "Of course "like he was expecting that answer.


"But you see this folder here "Ranveer opens the folder in front of her and continue saying "Gives me some background information about you. You are ten years old, you have pretty decent grades in school. Your father died in a car accident when you were seven. But that is not all I got." He takes out some pictures out of the folder and shows it to Alia. He hears Alia gasp, no doubt by reading her face expression that she was shocked.

So I decided to write a longer chapter 3 :) Hope you guys don't mind :) Sorry for any typos and let me know what you guys think :)

Oh God, this is just getting better and better! ❤️Harshad and Ranveer are police officers and Ranveer has been through a past similar to the girl's. This is getting really good now. Kudos to you, MM and you are really doing a great job with this. 👏

Chapter 4: Connecting with the suspect

Ishani looked at her best friend with a sinking feeling as if she had missed something important. She looked at him as he spoke with Alia, she could see a determination in his eyes. She had noticed the body language of Ranveer and how he seemed tense that it was something that bothered him. He was not calm and relaxed as he otherwise used to be, there were few cases she had seem him like that. It gave her a certain idea that this mattered much to him that this girl meant a lot to him. She could not stop herself to be a little jealous of this girl, because she saw the change in his friend because of this girl. Her bestfriend had always tried to hide his emotion, she had worked very had to try to take off the wall he had built around his heart. After all he had been able to take her wall down; she was determined to do the same regarding him.

In few cases had he opened up for her, and also after that she nagged him about showing some emotions. But this girl, Alia did not have to even try . When it went up for Ishani about what she was thinking about she got ashamed off her self.

What am I thinking of? I do not know what has happened with this girl and am I getting jealous for no reason. It 's true what they say about love, that it makes you crazy and overly possessive.

Ranveer stood up from his chair and sat down on his knees beside Alia 's chair. He grabbed one of her hand and looked deep in her eyes.

"I 've been in your situation before, I know how it is to be afraid, to feel guilty and feel that no one can help you . But it is not true Alia, I got help and I will do anything I can to help you, that you have my words on."

Alia just snorted and said: "You know what I am going through? You work for the police and people like you are very different from people like me. Our lives are different; you are nothing more than a corrupt and a liar. "

Following the harsh words of Alia, there was a brief silence, but if you thought the hurtful words of Alia stopped Ranveer to help her, then you were wrong. He just got more determined.

"I 'm going to go through two situations. Your job is to tell me if any of them sound familiar, okay? That's all you need to do. Situajon 1: your mother drank, she is full and very angry. She hit you because she needs to get all this anger out and there you are the perfect victim. When she gets sober and watch the injuries she begins to excuse herself and cry. She tells you again and again that she loves you, until you feel it is safe again to trust her. So you decide to keep it to yourself and decide to not tell anyone But what she has promised you she is unable to follow, because it happens again, again and again. But it is not the only thing that did not change, because you still don't tell anyone. B Because at the end of the day she is still your mother and she loves you, and it's not her fault. She does not mean it to happen , it's just an accident."

Ranveer takes a break and breathe out. He looks at her to watch her reaction to what he has said so far. He sees a tear in corners of her eyes, it was a good sign. It was a sign that he could break through this wall she had built to protect herself. So he goes on:

"Situation 2 : Your mother is angry . She is pissed, maybe she is drunk, or maybe not. But there is no doubt she is pissed on you, because you have messed up, maybe because she believes that you have behaved rudely or that you got a bad grade. She let's you know that she is disappointed on you . It hurt's , and you try to apologize. She does not forgive you , and tells you that she does not like this more than you and also keeps reminding you that are worthless and that you have to pay for your actions. You are nothing, but a mistake for her. You don't tell anyone about how your mother hurts you, because you believe she is right. You start believing her word and starts thinking that you are a mistake."

Alia 's eyes are full of tears until he finished speaking situation two. Heck, Ranveer himself struggle to keep his emotions at bay. Ranveer keeps silent for some minutes, but she does not respond. He knows there is no exit now, he exhales. "When I was little, I was in situation two. Thanks' to my father. " There it was, the past he had escaped. Her eyes fixed on his face; there was no doubt that she did not expect this. He knew he had her attention, now he only wished he had her trust also. So he could get her out of the mess, she newer deserved to bee in.

Sorry for the late reply MM. 😛Finally we get an insight into Ranveer's past.😳 I loved Ishaani's reaction on seeing Ranveer's behaviour change around Alia. 😆😆😆
