Its all about his insecurities! And he could not handled it with sanity!!! he is already guilt ridden after passing away of mandar!! As he feel its because of him!!

Since episode 1 he feels that his daughter in law should not go away from him, .

But sulochana provoked him badly against raghav and he couldn’t handle that insecurity and he thrown her out of the house and this is where ge made biggest mistake..

The redemption will be there and he himself may handover pallavi to raghav!!!

He needs to understand the fact!

I never saw his love for as skin deep but cannot blame you for it either as it does seem to be going overboard now. I had hoped the writers would have been more sophisticated and beneath this anger was a father who has lost his daughter to another man. When Pallavi married into the home she would have been his daughter but if she were to marry someone, then he would lose his daughter. I found signs of this in the initial actor who played Vijay but with the change in actor and the story progression this angle does not seem to be happening. Sometimes the writing team fails to update the replacement actor who has to do his best to step into a part midway without getting the background on the character or the writer's intent and the poor actor ends up giving the audience the wrong impression of the character.

What is also not clear is don't these people know why Pallavi married Raghav? I would have though the mother knew and she would be more supportive of her.

Feel his "love" is skin deep. Makers are showing him as a grey character. Even if we ignore the whole throwing(literally 🤮) pallavi out act, his initial character graph was not great to begin with.

1) During the sangeet, not only is he uncaring about her safety but he actively prevents nikhil from going out and looking for her. The scene immediately cuts to a stranger threatening with a knife on pallavi. Makes me believe the writers want us to hate the VD character. VDs anger and shown alongside with Raghav following pallavi to safety inspite of his hate for her. No matter the provocation or his issues with Pallavi, VD not caring about her when she is out late night is unpardonable.

2) I remember in earlier episodes when he suspects something between pallavi and raghav, he goes and tries to warn off raghav. It was ok till here, but he then goes to the DSE shop and enquires krishna "Raghav rao aur pallavi ke sambandh kaise hai". Which father does such puch thach at his daughters workplace. From this moment he stopped being a character with flaws and has moved onto grey zone.

Both points, very well pointed out. I just saw him as uncaring. He's an egoistic man and even when it comes to Pallavi, its always about how he feels, his respect, his love for her (non existent), his guilt, his shame....where is Pallavi in this bond? Has he ever thought that she is a young woman and it's natural for her to develop feelings for another man? If she indeed had a relationship with Raghav, he ought to have discussed with her and not go spying on her. When a father spy's on his daughter, its disgusting. But it doesn't come to me as a surprise that dialogue in this crazy family is not encouraged.

Another thing, when Raghav said she's a young beautiful woman and she is entitled to have her share of fun, as much as he said it in bad taste, there was a huge point here for the D's to consider. How long were they planning to keep her in that house? Pallavi is bound by their love or should I call it their favors, and that is why she always feels indebted to them. A family never makes a member of their family feel indebted. Where there is love, there are no favors to be spoken of.

U know I always wondered if he was not willing to just give over all responsibility to pals it would not have been possible for pals to show fake accounts. I feel VD plain never bothered. He was just enjoying chilling. otherwise a person who handles a business his whole life will never casually visit his shop and check things out? Also not only sangeet, there were so many times Pallavi was out at night and was also threatened by Raghav in the road but he is never shown worried. his whole behavior is completely seesaw.
