OK - I just googled and found that a farasan means a gujarati side dish or savory. But does it need any specific kind of cooking to be a farasan?

But one thing is definite (just goggled), that Bengalis traditionally eat on the ground with a large banana leaf serving as the plate and they also wrap fish and other meats and vegetable in banana leaf before steaming etc. But it was evident that Doyle was familiar with uses of banana in normal cooking.

Oh ok.. But using banana leaf and steaming in leaf does not mean they use raw bananas in dishes. Yes, Doyal said she likes it and makes it but I got confused when you tried to imply that raw bananas were given in this round as they are a bengali specialty. But its ok. You did not know. It is actually used a lot in South Indian cuisine and even the kofta curry made from it in North India is inspired from the South. I just love the different types of things we make in different parts of India ...😳

I don't think so. My Gujarati friends use that term for all those snack items they have - dhokla, samosa, khandvi plus all the chaat stuff like sev, those maida puris (dont get the name but used in chaat dishes)..

I was so sorry to see Yasmin eliminated. Both Doyle and Yasmin are good and creative. When Doyle was contemplating how she would use the bananas, it was obvious that she had used that recipe and raw bananas a lot of time. She seemed very comfortable with them.

Doyle was more innovative as far as all her dishes went and I applaud her for it.

Then there was Yasmin, who had already given up before the competition even began. Her dishes were not perfected and completed in time. So this round goes to Doyale who seemed composed throughout the competition..

The question is...did the judges choose bananas knowing that it is very often used in Bengali cuisine. I suppose we will never know that.

I sincerely wish Yasmin all the best in opening a restaurant and becoming very successful. I am proud of you Yasmin.
God Bless you

Excellent observation 👏

When they wish they save someone (last week) & now their work is done, so they discard them 😡 just to save some undeserving people 🤢 for some pathetic trps 🤢 😡

doyle definitely cooked better than yasmin today, the later on the other hand had lost hope before the task began. she was quiet sure herself that doyle is a better cook.

2nd point : why is der so much hype abt raw bananas? if doyle like raw banana or if they r used extensively in bengal so wht?
last time yasmin cooked a normal Anda curry... i mean no innovation at all, her dish was nothng agnst devyani's but still she got safe.

not to forget today there were two other main ingredients too. doyle topped in all the three farzans and not jst d banana based.

doyle did better so she won. yasmin deserved to lose with the farzans she made... fair game. atlst one fair game aftr long time

Whats wrong in hyping about raw bananas? Some of us got to know some more about Bengali style of cooking based on comments about bananas being used in Bengal cuisine.

As much as I rooted for Yasmin, you are right in saying that in this round, Doyle topped because she presented some better farzans. It was a fair win for Doyale

Amazed at discussion here. Bengalis eat raw bananna in villages as an alternative to medicine when stomach is upset and that too it is eaten boiled and with salt only and no other cooking.

There are very specialised receipes using raw bananas off course but that will be there in every cuisine. My mother cooks raw banana may be not more than twice a year and so certainly it has no bengali touch.

Doyel is not a village girl and hence her idea about raw banana will be no more than common sense anyway.

How jealous and biased people keep inventing conspiracy theories amaze me.

Just accept the fact that Yasmin is a pretty average cook and the fact that she could stay so much time by selling her tears is more than what she deserved!
