Revering one's societal customs and traditions, is not, NEVER WAS, the same as "putting them a notch above Humanity and Natural laws". If by natural definition, two people are NOT related by blood, no tradition in the wide world can make them bonded thus. Its time we stopped being medieval and take an effort to stop India's name being added alongside the likes of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. That's NOT an admirable slot to crave...whew!

i understand what you are trying to say but here's what i often say to my son - "God gave you a brain, USE IT!" it's something i strongly believe in - God gave me a brain so it's my moral obligation to think thru all existing norms of said society and accept the rules that benefit the world today but discard the ones that are detrimental for progressive growth!
i expect Priya to do just the above. i expect her to use her brain and not follow society's rules blindly. i also request you to not take the easy way out by telling everyone that they don't understand since they don't live in your society, but to take the right approach and question yourself if the rules you practice make any sense in today's world.
take care.

^^ Thanks. Atleast I don't share the mentality which you showed in your post(s). As somebody said, smell the coffee. No right-minded person would agree with you here, I'm guessing you're already more than aware of that. Ain't it so?

you can't judge one's personality, thinking or character just on the basis of the argument in which you disagree with the other person. and just for your information its not the easy way in fact what you are saying is the easy way out to avoid any discussion when you don't have any solid point. neither i have the superiority complex that i'm the only one who use brain nor i'm trying to degrade anyone's thinking. also i included in my first post that its not my pov or thinking that just happens in our society. and i very well understand that its the people who makes the society not the vice versa.

i'm sorry if i made you feel like i was judging you. trust me, that is the farthest thing from my mind. that said, are you sure YOU are not trying to judge me? you are implying that i have a superiority complex, right?
you are also saying that i'm avoiding discussion and not giving any solid points. however, i gave you solid points again and again but you gave none. i told you about their caste being different, about their blood not being the same, but so far all you have said is - this is the belief in your society. that is not a solid point dear!
you say that since Vidya married into a jat family, she must follow their customs - WHAT marriage??? Vidya has already washed her hands off that marriage and i'm with her all the way. marriage is not just made by saat phere, it's made by 2 people committing to each other. whatever phere gaurav took with her were a lie, so there is no marriage. Vidya is free of that marriage and free to make a life with Cheenu or any other man for that matter.
