@Darlunia,
I read all your analysis in one go!!! Fab job! Since I have been missing the last couple of episode and only happened the saw the one aired yesterday (Maha Episode), I don't have much to comment right now! So will be waiting for you to write about the Maha Episode and then add my comments!
I do have one bone to pick with Aditya! Endearing as the man is, I also find him very impractical and just a shade too impulsive! The fact that most of the audience is ga-ga over him is, I would like to believe, because of Raquesh the actor, rather than Aditya, the character! Raquesh gives a lot of level-headedness and equanimity to Aditya's OTTness!😃
As you have mentioned credits to the screenplays in your posts, and I agree with you on this...what surprises me is that how could the creatives ignore some basics! Priya's father who is shown to be tactiturn and bitter in the beginning is now shown to completely endorse Aditya's proposal of marriage to Priya! I understand that Mr. Pradhan wants his daughter to get out of the hell she is currently in, but afterall Aditya is a rank stranger...they met only a few days back and without any information on his background, how could someone like Mr. Pradhan not only withstand Aditya proposing Priya in their drawing room (damn cute the scene was nevertheless!) but encourage Priya to accept Aditya's proposal? He did not even feel the need to ask Aditya about his vocation? What does he do? Can he support his daughter or not? What impact would Priya's past have on his family? It somewho jarred too much! I really wish the creatives would have taken the slow route to Adi and Priya's relationship instead of jumping the gun in this manner!
Aditya does have a one-track mind! 😆 Couldn't have worded it better than you did! He just goes on like a bullet train...never stopping to think what the other person feels or thinks! It also shows Aditya's basic immaturity...did he never stop to imagine why a beautiful and young girl like Priya would be so sad and heartbroken all the time? That if her neighbours are speaking so badly about her, there must be something awful in her past? Strange...that he seemed willing to listen to Priya at Mansa Devi and actually demanded Priya to disclose her past to him, when they barely knew one another and now he is not willing to listen to her when she is so desperate to tell him all!
But ignoring all the practical questions that came to my mind, I still admit to being hooked on to Aditya and Priya's love story! 😳 A huge credit is to the actors who share a sparkling chemistry between them and also to the individual characters, who despite their share of flaws, have something which is very unique and hence gives an edge to their love story!

Hey Jaya,

Watched the maha episode late last night. Here are my thoughts:

The show played out brilliantly as expected. I love the cinematography of the show and it was great as always. All the actors were wonderful as always. The plot, as expected, was all about revelation of Priya's story.

Here is where I was disappointed. Priya tells Aditya her past in a letter and that is all so soapy and cliche. The letter hasn't yet gotten into Adi's hands and as with letters they never quite make it the rightful recipient. There are misunderstandings until a dramatic reveal. With this show I wanted the truth to come out and for them to deal with it head on. As you can imagine I didn't like the story coming out in a flashback to the audience not Adi.

Another disappointment was Bramhanand being the real negative character in the show. I really liked his character of a strong handed patriarch of the family and enjoyed his relationship dynamics within the family from his father, to wife to the two sons and employees. Now regardless of what he does he can't redeem himself from his past and can't be forgiven. I feel a bit sad that everything he does will be tainted by that one heinous act.

I know that Priya's story and what happened to her is beyond anything but I am actually glad that she wasn't actually raped (at least I hope so) because if she was then she can't marry Adi and be forever related to her rapist. That would be beyond horrible.

Overall I feel the maha episode was not all that maha as it didn't propel the story any farther. It did nothing they couldn't have easily done on Monday.

@Tanu - really like Gaurav as a character. They are developing him very nicely. He is charismatic, sensitive and strong but is still vulnerable to his mother. You have to love a man who loves and respects his mother. He is shown being very nice to Vidhya's family and despite his feelings for someone else, he is being very respectful and wonderful to Vidhya and her feelings. With her we seeing him smiling and taking pleasure in the small things which is unlike his normal brooding self. I saw a bit of a manipulative characteristic in him when he jumped all over Vidhya's misunderstanding.

So true Shelly. There are so many aspects to Gaurav's character. The son to Devyani...loving, weak and dependent. As a husband, he is aware of what his choices will do to Vidya...manipulative and friendly. As a lover to the mystery person...weak and loving. In each significant relationship, he displays the stronger and weaker aspects of his character.

Over all love the way Divyani's character is developing. She may seem subservient to her husband but we are starting to see the steely interior.

With Devyani, her strength is right there...below the surface. But like a lot of women who's lives primarily revolve around their abusive husbands, she is craving his approval...almost like she feels his love only when he approves of her actions. I can't wait to see what event will push her over the edge to fight back against Brahmanand...could be Priya's story.

Gaurav - someone suggested not sure who the whole cougar/older woman element. Really like that idea. Or someone totally inappropriate because she is married or stuck in a loveless marriage, or looking after a sick husband etc. I like!

Wonder how such a scenario would play out with some of the dialogs from earlier episodes... remains to be seen I guess.

Viddha - love how her character is coming together...can't wait for her to grow up and see Gaurav as a real man with all his faults as apposed to prince charming.

I think it will take some time for Vidya's character to grow up and see her world for what it is. Also, from a story standpoint, she will hopefully be the lighter side to the heavy duty stuff in the other characters lives.

Priya's father - really like how he reacted to Adi's proposal. First what the H, then interesting to it is all up to my daughter to have the heart to heart conversation. Even like the fact that the conversation happened in the kitchen while she is washing the dishes. Soaps so often forget the mundane day to day stuff women do. Not everyone lives in mansions with servants.

True. The screenplay always seems to have Priya doing mundane normal stuff...like washing vessels...or folding clothes while talking to her father during Friday's episode.

Priya - yes she is the weakest link in this cast. But I like her with Adi. Espcially like how comfortable they were during the filmy dance number they did .. with her in the white sari. Like how they are comfortable touching each other and getting really close. Quite often this is where the inexperience of an actor shows because they get all stiff around the lead of the opposite sex.

I am yet to see yesterday's episode...hopefully she pulled it off.

Hi Priya,

is it just me who finds Gaurav's character completely spineless....every new day i'm hating him more.....he is manipulative just like his mom....lets say he is gay....then he is trying to have the cake and eat it too....while not allowing Vidya any cake at all.....he not a strong person at all...bend to the wills of social pressure and married a girl but still having a relationship with someone else.

I think there are so many different aspects to his personality...stronger & weaker aspects in each of his significant relationships. From the standpoint of going ahead with his marriage to Vidya while loving somebody else...yeah...sure that is his is weakness...a big one. But with his characterization, he prioritized Devyani over any other emotion I would imagine.

If a person is Gay...that doesn't give him any right to ruin another's life....If you choose to live your life to your own wish then you should give the other person the same right as well....All i see in Gaurav is a manipulative, self centered and opportunistic guy.....just because he shed a few tears doesn't make him any better a person....it makes him unable to control his emotions.....not a good sign in a grown person at all.

We are jumping the gun here, but, if we assume for arguments purposes that he is...coming out as gay is a complex decision. Even in the western world where there are far more openly gay individuals than among South Asians, this is an extremely hard decision. Then when you take that personal choice and place it in a story set in India...not in the metropolitan India but in a traditional Haryanvi family, that decision gets even more complicated. There are numerous real life stories of women and men getting in to traditional marriages out of fear of repercussions they would face if they were to come out openly and live their life as gay or lesbian. Is it fair to the person they are marrying...certainly not...but the decision, in my humble opinion, cannot be viewed from just that perspective.

It is so strained with Gaurav and so easy-going and friendly with Aditya? On the other hand, he does not communicate with his own father at all. It is Devyani who deals with her FIL.

Hi Hema...so glad you are reading...🤗. I love how the writers here show the two sides of each coin in the various stories. Brahmanand's contrasting relationships with his sons...Rishabh's contrasting interactions with Devyani & Uttara and so on.

Jays and everybody, had a really good time reading all the viewpoints. Is there any particular time you folks are online compared to others? I think this series is worthy of discussion and you guys have such good things to say.

I just caught up with the maha-episode and have to say it was good...but I am disappointed. The big event was a molestation and I am wondering if that was a change in the story that came about recently. I would have preferred it to be a rape by cops other than Brahmanand rather than it be a molestation at the hands of the SSP. I feel like something changed. Like we were debating Jays, I wonder too if this was a way for the writers to give Devyani's character that trigger to fight back. For Devyani's character to break out of her shackles, the trigger needs to be really big...and finding out her husband molested her daughter-in-law would be HUGE for her.

Jays, I read your initial views on the women...how about spending some time analyzing the men...😃...should not be too hard...🤣.

Loved your takes and everybody's views.
